"The world think LeBron really might be doing that" - Teague explains his father asked him to take back what he said about James doing PEDs

"The world think LeBron really might be doing that" - Teague explains his father asked him to take back what he said about James doing PEDs originally appeared on Basketball Network. Former Atlanta Hawks All-Star guard Jeff Teague made a controversial statement during a recent episode of his "Club 520" podcast. During that episode, Teague accused the Miami version of LeBron James of taking steroids to dominate the league. Interestingly, however, Jeff took back his accusations almost immediately, tweeting that he was just joking and that he was trying to drive home the point that LBJ was so dominant during that period that he had to use a wild comparison. "What I was saying was he was so good that we had, you know, when somebody be rich and they black, we say they Illuminati…" said Teague on the recent episode of Joe Budden's "Patreon Podcast." When Budden pushed him to say who got him to retract his statement, Teague said it was his dad. "Nobody called. My pops told me like, 'Yo, why you say that?' And I was like, 'Say what?' I was like…they took that the wrong way, so I was like, 'I need to back that up.' Cuz he said, 'We know you joking, but the world think LeBron really might be doing that.' Like, I don't know LeBron. I ain't never spoke to LeBron. He said, 'Wassup' to me twice in my life," he added. Teague claimed James used HGH During that particular episode of Teague's podcast, he claimed that James used synthetic Human Growth Hormone (HGH) during his "Big 3" days with the Miami Heat. Jeff claimed that when the NBA began testing for HGH, LeBron sat out for three weeks with a back injury, and then when he returned, he was noticeably skinnier. However, the NBA did not start testing for HGH until the 2015-16 NBA season, or at least two seasons after LBJ left the Heat. That alone made Teague's claim a baseless lie. And although James was investigated by authorities in 2013 during the Biogenesis scandal, he was never accused of anything. "If he was doing that, don't you know I would have did it. S–t, I would have took them…If I could have been half the ni–a he was, come on, bro. If we talk about $100 million, $300 million, I would have did that," Teague aired out another trolled Teague for recanting Right after Teague took back his statement, fellow former All-Star Gilbert Arenas trolled Jeff for backtracking so quickly. Agent Zero then joked that instead of making false claims against King James, Teague might want to join him and other talking heads in the Klutch payroll, insinuating that Bron controls the media and the narrative around him. "Jeff Teague hit us with the ol', 'My bad, Bron!' Like he ain't just accused LeBron of sippin' on that Avengers serum. Bro walked it back so smooth I thought he was moonwalking. Next time, just say, 'LeBron built different' and keep it pushin! Jeff, you better stop it, cuz there are a few people you can't talk about - LeBron James, Bronny James. That's it. Nobody else got that power. You see, your daddy called; they got to him. Boy, you better buy your LeBron jersey, man and then sit back and be Team LeBron like the rest of us," Gil said. To be fair, LeBron has never failed a single drug test during his 22-year NBA career. Save for that 2013 episode involving Biogenesis, James is as clean as a whistle when it comes to drugs, steroids, and PED issues. So, unless proven otherwise, why can't people just say LBJ is genetically gifted? That may be what he really story was originally reported by Basketball Network on Aug 5, 2025, where it first appeared.

Jhoan Duran trade grades: Breaking down Phillies-Twins deal

Dave Dombrowski finally did it. Just ahead of Major League Baseball's trade deadline day, the Philadelphia Phillies' president of baseball operations made a big splash by landing one of the top closers on the market — Jhoan Duran from the Minnesota Twins for Mick Abel and Eduardo Tait. The move by the Phillies is a big one with the team in a "win now" stage with Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, Zack Wheeler, J.T. Realmuto and Kyle Schwarber towards the end of their primes or on expiring contracts. Here's how we're grading the Jhoan Duran trade from the Twins to the Phillies: REQUIRED READING: MLB trade deadline rumors: Latest news and updates from around baseball Jhoan Duran trade details Phillies receive: RHP Johan Duran Twins receive: RHP Mick Abel, C Eduardo Tait The Phillies acquired star right-handed closer Johan Duran from the Twins for prospects Mick Abel and Eduardo Tait. Jhoan Duran trade grades Phillies: A Going into this week, it was no secret that the Phillies needed to bolster their bullpen in a big way. Their big offseason bullpen move of signing Jordan Romano (one year, $8.5 million) hasn't worked out and star left-handed reliever Jose Alvarado is currently serving an 80-game suspension after testing positive for PEDs. Alvarado is not eligible for the postseason. When the reliever market began to heat up on Wednesday, reports began to surface that the Phillies would likely need to give up their No. 1 prospect (Andrew Painter) in addition to other top prospects in a package for a high-end reliever like Duran. The odds of Dombrowski landing a reliever seemingly started to dwindle. He confirmed to reporters in Chicago after the Phillies' loss to the White Sox that the team wasn't going to trade Painter. Dombrowski then made a big acquisition while not having to give up Painter, who is throwing in Triple-A right now and working his way back from Tommy John surgery. Got to give Dombrowski credit for this. Landing a reliever like Duran is a big get for the Phillies, whose bullpen is ranked No. 24 in MLB with a 4.33 ERA. At 27 years old, Duran is also under team control for an additional two full seasons, which aligns with their current window with Harper, Wheeler and others. One of the top relievers on the market, Duran's fastball is electric and averages 100.2 mph, which will certainly work late in games for manager Rob Thomson. In four seasons with the Twins, Duran has posted a 2.47 ERA and 74 saves. That, too, will play for the Phillies, who haven't had a surefire, lockdown closer since Jonathan Papelbon. The Phillies have their closer of the future. Not a bad way to go into Thursday's trade deadline for Dombrowski and his staff. "We would not have paid this price for a rental," Dombrowki told reporters in Chicago after the Phillies officially announced the trade. Enough said by the future Hall of Famer. Twins: B+ Though the Twins didn't get a prospect of Painter's caliber back for Duran, Minnesota still did rather well in its return for the closer. Headlining the package for the Twins is Abel, a former first-round draft pick by the Phillies in 2015 who has pitched at the major league level this season. Called up on May 18 to fill the spot in the rotation for an injured Aaron Nola, Abel posted a 2-2 record with a 5.04 ERA across six starts and 25 innings pitched. Abel, the Phillies' No. 6-ranked prospect, struggled over his final starts, which ultimately led to him being optioned back to Triple-A. Abel specifically struggled with his command, as he gave up nine runs and five walks in his final two outings vs. the Mets and Padres. Though he will be sent to Triple-A, he is a major league-ready arm for the Twins, should they have a need in the coming days and weeks. Then there is Tait, who is the first Top 100 Prospect traded at the deadline since 2023 and the highest-ranked since 2022. At 18 years old and playing as high as Single-A, Tait is viewed more as a project prospect. He does possess some power and has a grade score of 60 for his arm, according to MLB Pipeline. Phillies Reportedly Targeting Moves For Bullpen Help Ahead Of Trade Deadline

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Philadelphia Phillies are one of the better teams in baseball, but there are still some massive holes on their roster to patch up. The biggest hole the Phillies have is in the bullpen, created by the suspension of closer Jose Alvarado. Alvarado was suspended for 80 regular-season games and the postseason after failing a drug test for PEDs earlier in the year. Philadelphia signed David Robertson, but it still needs to add on. Bob Nightengale of USA Today recently reported that the Phillies were looking to add another bullpen arm in the next few days. More Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images "The Philadelphia Phillies, after signing free agent David Robertson to a $6 million contract, want to add one more high-leverage reliever by the deadline," Nightengale wrote. With the Phillies reportedly eyeing a high-leverage reliever, it's important to look at some of the options on the market. It seems like Mason Miller and Emmanuel Clase are off the market, which leaves pitchers like Jhoan Duran, David Bednar, and Ryan Helsley as some of the best relievers on the market. If the Phillies don't want to go after a big-name closer, somebody like Griffin Jax could make a lot of sense. Jax would slot in well in Philadelphia. Phil Maton of the St. Louis Cardinals or Raisel Iglesias from the Atlanta Braves make sense, too. There are plenty of options to explore. At the end of the day, it's important that the Phillies add a talented pitcher to their bullpen. It could be one of the names listed, or it could be a different name. Either way, the Phillies need to keep adding on. More MLB: Padres' Trade Deadline Takes Wild Turn After Red Sox's Jarren Duran Decision

Rams training camp preview: How many roster spots are available for WRs in 2025?

Can Jordan Whittington, Konata Mumpfield and other WRs make some noise in camp? The Los Angeles Rams' receiving corps looks like one of the best on paper entering 2025. Puka Nacua is back as a top playmaker, while Davante Adams joins the roster as a free agent – and a big one, at that. Tutu Atwell returned on a $10 million deal and Jordan Whittington is entering Year 2 after showing promise as a rookie, giving the Rams great depth at the position. That should make for some exciting and intriguing camp battles this summer as players not only jockey for a roster spot, but also for positioning on the depth chart. Here's a look at the receiver group heading into training camp. Roster locks Nacua, Adams and Atwell are all obviously going to make the team, being the top three receivers on the team. Nacua and Adams are 1a and 1b, while Atwell's $10 million fully guaranteed contract make him a lock. Whittington may not seem like a lock as a former sixth-round pick but there's no chance the Rams are going to let him go. He offers too much value as a WR4 and return specialist, as evidenced last season when he filled in admirably when the Rams were banged up. Likely to make it Mumpfield was drafted by the Rams in the seventh round this year but that doesn't guarantee him a roster spot whatsoever. Teams cut seventh-round rookies all the time, so Mumpfield will have to earn his place on the team. The Rams really liked him as a late-round prospect so he does have the benefit over the undrafted rookies, but he has work to do in order to carve out a role for himself. On the bubble Based on these projections, the Rams have five wideouts who are likely to make the team. They'll probably keep six or more wideouts when they trim their roster to 53 players, which means there might only be one player from this group who sticks around into September. Smith and Covey both have an advantage thanks to their special teams ability as returners, but will the Rams really keep both of them? Probably not. Edwards, Williams and Presley are undrafted rookies who have encouraging skill sets, and Stoops is facing a two-game suspension for PEDs, so that puts him behind the eight ball. Position battle to watch Whittington is a really exciting young player who plays similarly to Nacua in the fact that they're both physical and aggressive, putting their bodies on the line every play. Mumpfield has far more to prove as a late-round rookie but his route running is great and he's just a well-rounded receiver who does a lot of things well without being outstanding in one area. It's possible Atwell, Whittington and Mumpfield will all rotate on offense, but the most important position battle is the one between Whittington and Mumpfield. Potential sleeper Williams is an undrafted rookie who stands at 5-foot-9, but he's lightning quick and like Covey and Smith, he can be a return specialist for the Rams. He's still a long shot to make the team, given the depth Los Angeles has atop the depth chart, but he's someone who shouldn't be ruled out. Phillies 'Hoping To Acquire' Star Relief Pitcher From Struggling AL Club

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The Philadelphia Phillies are one of the best teams in baseball, but they still need to hunt for some major upgrades ahead of the trade deadline. The biggest hole on the Phillies' roster is in the bullpen following Jose Alvarado's crushing suspension. Alvarado was dealt an 80-game suspension that'll also see him ineligible for the postseason following a failed drug test for PEDs. Luckily for Philadelphia, the trade block is set to have quite a few talented relievers available this year. Bob Nightengale of USA Today recently reported the Phillies were hoping to acquire at least one of Griffin Jax or Jhoan Duran from the Minnesota Twins. ST LOUIS, MO - MARCH 27: Jhoan Duran #59, Justin Topa #48 and Griffin Jax #22 of the Minnesota Twins look on prior to the game against the St. Louis Cardinals on March 27, 2025... ST LOUIS, MO - MARCH 27: Jhoan Duran #59, Justin Topa #48 and Griffin Jax #22 of the Minnesota Twins look on prior to the game against the St. Louis Cardinals on March 27, 2025 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri. More Brace Hemmelgarn/"The Philadelphia Phillies have been extensively scouting Minnesota Twins relievers Jhoan Duran and Griffin Jax of the Minnesota Twins, hoping to acquire at least one of them," Nightengale wrote. "The Twins also are drawing strong interest from the Detroit Tigers, Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Cincinnati Reds." It would make sense for the struggling Twins to trade both of these relievers this year. For the Phillies, it would come down to how much prospect capital they're willing to part with to land the reliever they want. If Philadelphia is willing to trade a huge haul, it could secure Duran. Duran is one of the more talented relievers in baseball and has team control on his contract through the 2027 season. Jax is nearly as talented, but his trade value should be much less than Duran's. The Phillies could try to swing a monster trade to acquire both pitchers from the Twins if they're willing to put together a blockbuster prospect return.
