Kyra Sedgwick's Signature Dish Is So Relatable (and Approved By Kevin Bacon)

Kyra Sedgwick's Signature Dish Is So Relatable (and Approved By Kevin Bacon) originally appeared on Parade. Over the years, Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, who fell in love on set while filming the 1988 movie Lemon Sky, have made it clear that food is one of their love languages. If you actively follow Bacon on social media, you'll know that the Footloose actor is an avid home cook and you've probably seen him cooking for Sedgwick. When she was coming home from being on the road, Bacon shot a video of himself prepping her a mostly vegetarian bolognese pasta. Bacon told PEOPLE Magazine that on Sunday mornings, he makes his signature 3-ingredient banana pancakes while Sedgwick is still sleeping. Related: And now, just in time for Bacon's birthday (June 8th), the Hollywood couple has shared a closer look into what Sedgwick likes to make when it's her night to cook. And judging by Bacon's bold proclamation, the dish very much has his stamp of approval. "My wife is making her signature dish, pantry pasta, and you better tell her it looks good," Bacon says as he stares directly into the camera in a recent TikTok video. (This intensely supportive partner bit is a new-ish TikTok trend.) The camera moves over to Sedgwick, who explains the main components of her pasta. "It's got olives and capers and tomatoes and tuna," she says. That combination of ingredients is guaranteed to be something good, so if you're looking for a nice and easy dinner for you and your honey, you might want to try Sedgwick's pantry pasta. She doesn't call it out as such, but based on Sedgwick's description, her pantry pasta is most likely a variation on pasta alla puttanesca, a classic Neopolitan pasta dish flavored with garlic, anchovies, capers, olives and tomatoes. Classic puttanesca pasta is savory and tangy, hearty but still light. The best part? It can be prepared completely without any ingredients from the fridge. According to New York Times food writer Mark Bittman, "There are almost as many explanations for the origins of pasta puttanesca as there are ways to make it." And in Segwick's case, it seems that she skips the anchovies and adds tuna. Related: When Bacon calls, the people answer, and boy did people flood the comments, per his request. "Hell, yeah there's nothing better than pantry pasta," wrote one commenter. "I don't like olives, but I'm kinda afraid of Kevin, so that looks delicious," said another. Finally, another fan posed the all-important question to the couple: "It looks great Kyra. When do we eat??!!" Related: It would be great if Bacon and Sedgwick opened up a pop-up, but don't worry if that doesn't happen. Pasta alla puttanesca is deceptively easy to make. All you have to do is cook garlic and anchovies (or tuna) in olive oil until the garlic turns golden. Add crushed canned tomatoes, season with salt and pepper and cook until you have a chunky sauce. Stir in olives and capers (plus some red chili flakes, if you'd like). Cook your favorite pasta according to package directions. Drain the pasta and transfer it to the pan with the sauce (don't do what Sedgwick did and spill half of the pasta on the stove). Toss to marry the noodles and sauce together, like a happy couple, then serve it Sedgwick's Signature Dish Is So Relatable (and Approved By Kevin Bacon) first appeared on Parade on Jul 8, 2025 This story was originally reported by Parade on Jul 8, 2025, where it first appeared. Boy, 11, dies in brother's arms after trip to public park ends in tragedy

Police are urging anyone who may have information about the shooting to come forward and say: "We are following every lead, but we need the public's help to solve this" An 11-year-old boy died in his brother's arms after being shot at a public park. The tragic incident occurred on Monday, June 23 shortly after 2pm local time. Police officers responded to a report of gunfire at Folwell Park on Dowling Avenue North in Minneapolis. Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle driving through the park and two other vehicles moving through the adjacent car park at around the same time of the shooting. ‌ According to a Minneapolis Police press release shortly after a resident sitting on his porch near Morgan Avenue North and Dowling Avenue North heard cries for help. He discovered the boy suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound, along with two other males, outside his home. ‌ The police statement added: "The resident placed the child and one of the males into his vehicle and began driving toward the hospital. On the way, he flagged down an officer near Penn and Dowling Avenues. The officer immediately removed the boy from the vehicle and initiated lifesaving efforts. Despite efforts by police, fire, and EMS personnel, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene." The victim has been tentatively identified by the county medical examiner as 11-year-old Amir Atkins, reports PEOPLE Magazine. A GoFundMe campaign has been created to help his mother with funeral expenses. A message from Amir's uncle on the page read: "My sister has lost one of her babies. She will need help with any kind of support or resources." He went on to say: " We are devastated to announce the passing of our precious Mir Mir, who left this world far too young at just 11 years old. "Yesterday, in a moment of crisis, his older brother's love shone through as he carried Amir, seeking help. A compassionate stranger then stepped in to rush them to medical care, but despite their valiant efforts, Amir could not be saved. "Amir was a beacon of light in our lives – a joyful, loving child whose laughter filled our hearts. He had a unique spark that touched everyone he met, and his absence leaves a void that can never be filled." The Minneapolis Police Department is actively investigating the circumstances and urges anyone with information to reach out. Police Chief O'Hara said: 'I cannot emphasize enough how terrible it is to have an 11-year-old boy shot and killed in the middle of the day. We need anyone with information to come forward so we can bring some sense of justice to this child's family. We are following every lead, but we need the public's help to solve this."
