Several Ministry of Public Health service departments will be open during the Eid holiday. The Qatar Health Care Unified Contact Center 16000 operates 24/7, Hamad Medical Corporation All emergency departments and the Ambulance Service will continue to operate as normal, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for medical emergencies and individuals requiring emergency medical assistance. The Pediatric Emergency Centers will remain open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for medical emergencies involving children under the age of 14. The Nesma'ak 16060 call center and the 16000 Government Healthcare Hotline will continue to operate 24/7. All HMC Outpatient clinics will be closed from 5 June to 9 June and will re-open on 10 June. Please note that patients with scheduled outpatient appointments during the Eid period will be contacted if there is any change to their scheduled date. The Urgent Consultation Service and the Pharmacy Home Delivery Service (both accessed via 16000) will be closed from 5 June and will reopen on 10 June. The National Mental Health Helpline (accessed via 16000) will be operating as usual, 8 am to 6 pm, Saturday to Thursday. Therapeutic Dietetics and Nutrition Services (accessed via 16060) will be open on 5 June from 7 am to 12 pm. The service will be closed on the first day of Eid. From the second day of Eid until 9 June, the service will operate 7 am -12 pm, except for weekends when they are closed. The Qatar National Blood Donation Center will be open on 5 June from 7 am to 10 pm. The Center will be closed on June 6 and 7 and re-open on 8 - 9 June from 8 am to 8 pm. The event served as a platform to honour the exceptional contributions of clinical faculty members and their pivotal role in preparing and equipping the next generation of healthcare leaders. It also highlighted the importance of strategic collaboration between QU and its healthcare partners to ensure the development of a healthcare workforce capable of meeting future demands. In a statement, Prof Asma Al-Thani, vice president for medical and health sciences at QU, emphasised the essential role of clinical education, stating, 'Clinical education plays a pivotal role in developing the competencies of our future healthcare professionals. It provides students with evidence-based practical experiences that enhance their clinical skills and align with global best practices. Clinical faculty members are key elements in this system, serving as academic mentors who guide students and integrate them as active practitioners in healthcare environments.' Dr Khalid Mohammed Al-Jalham, chief medical officer at HMC, stated, 'The future of health care lies in the hands of those we educate today. Our clinical faculty are not just teachers—they are mentors, role models, and the guiding force behind every great healthcare professional.' Prof Hiba Bawadi, director of clinical affairs at QU, added, 'This is a very important day for the health sector, where all clinical staff from the major healthcare institutions in the country are honoured for their efforts in educating and training students from the colleges of medicine, dental medicine, pharmacy, nursing, and health sciences. It shows that QU values and appreciates everyone involved in the education of its students.' Prof Abdulaziz Al Khulaifi, chairman of the Cardiothoracic Surgery Department at HMC, remarked, 'This recognition by the College of Medicine at QU, which takes place every year at the end of the academic year, celebrates the efforts made by the clinical staff. We take pride in our role in teaching medical students who represent the future.' Maryam Al-Rashid, head of academic affairs and senior consultant family medicine at PHCC, stated, 'At the PHCC, we take pride in our strategic partnership with QU and reaffirm our strong commitment to supporting the advancement of health education in the State of Qatar. These clinics allow patients to access psychiatry and psychology services in a familiar and non-stigmatising environment, alongside their regular physical healthcare. The integrated clinics in PHCC cover multiple specialist areas, including adult psychiatry, ADHD, and older adult mental health. These services are delivered in close collaboration between HMC psychiatrists and PHCC teams, ensuring high-quality, coordinated care. HMC also offers outpatient services at multiple locations including Hamad General Hospital, Mesaieed General Hospital, Al Wakra Hospital, Al Khor Hospital, Aisha Bint Hamad Al Attiyah Hospital, Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital, and Muaither addition to physical outpatient clinics, HMC has expanded its virtual care services. The National Mental Health Helpline (telephone 16000) offers immediate access to trained mental health professionals. Patients can also attend follow-up psychiatric appointments remotely using secure telehealth platforms, making it easier for people to continue their care from home. Specialist virtual services, such as the Women's Mental Health Service, provide confidential support tailored to the unique needs of different patient groups. 'The key to improving mental health outcomes is early intervention and making access to care easy and stigma-free,' said Amal Alobaidli, acting executive director of nursing at the Mental Health Service. 'Our recent strategy has prioritised providing mental health services in the heart of communities across Qatar. Tribune News Network Doha On the evening of Wednesday, May 28, the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) held its Annual Corporate Forum in the presence of Minister of Public Health HE Mansour bin Ibrahim Al Mahmoud, and PHCC Managing Director Dr. Mariam Ali Abdul Malik. The event was also attended by several members of the executive leadership team, health centre managers, department heads, honoured employees, and several clinical and administrative staff. This annual forum serves as a tribute to PHCC employees and their outstanding contributions to the ongoing journey of healthcare excellence and development. It reflects PHCC's commitment to a culture of recognition—one of the pillars of a positive and motivating work environment. National Health Strategy At the beginning of the ceremony, Dr. Mariam Ali Abdul Malik delivered a speech highlighting the corporation's major achievements in 2024 and early 2025, including success in international accreditations, improvements in service quality, expanded access to care, development of national talent, and enhanced employee satisfaction. She said that the 'continued support of our wise leadership, along with our commitment to Qatar National Vision 2030 and the National Health Strategy 2023–2030, is what drives us toward excellence. Within this framework, we launched our Corporate Strategic Plan 2024–2030, which focuses on population health and expanding access to high-quality healthcare services. 'The year 2024 witnessed key accomplishments, including PHCC receiving the Canadian Diamond Accreditation for the fourth time and winning the Patient-Centred Care Award. We also enhanced our preparedness through business continuity workshops and strategies and field exercises. 'In the field of education and development,' she continued, 'we maintained ACGME-I Accreditation in Family Medicine and received, for the first time, ACGME-I Accreditation in Community Medicine. We also signed a research collaboration agreement with Hamad Bin Khalifa University.' She noted the expansion of services, with over 1.8 million registered beneficiaries and more than 3 million family medicine visits—a 28% growth. New specialized services were launched, including urgent care, sepsis detection, cancer survivor care, and expanded ophthalmology services. Regarding human resources, nationalization reached 27%, with over 400 Qatari employees promoted. The Corporation also achieved strong job satisfaction levels and introduced new motivational initiatives. 'Ataa' group speech Dr. Muna Taher delivered a speech on behalf of her colleagues in the 'Ataa' group—employees who have served PHCC for over 25 years. 'I am honoured to stand before you today on behalf of my colleagues who have dedicated a quarter of a century to PHCC,' she said. 'Twenty-five years have passed, and our steps have never faltered. We walked this path with love, sincerity, and hope for fulfilment.' She recalled attending her first recognition ceremony at the start of her career, admiring the honourees and wondering if she would one day stand among them. 'And here I am today, grateful for every moment and for everyone who accompanied me on this journey,' she said. She shared that although she began her career in paediatrics, a simple moment with her father led her to switch to family medicine, where she found deeper meaning and connection with people. She closed her speech proudly: 'After 25 years, I say with pride—it has been a journey full of giving. I thank the Corporation and its leadership and pledge to continue serving our country with sincerity.' Honouring outstanding staff The ceremony included the recognition of distinguished 'Ataa' employees who have served PHCC for over 25 years, in appreciation of their long professional journeys and loyal service. Awards were also presented to outstanding directorates and health centres across the northern, central, and western regions, as well as to the winners of the Staff Satisfaction Survey Award, reflecting PHCC's commitment to improving employee experience and fostering positive competition. PHCC announces the launch of ICOPE clinic at QU Health Centre

Tribune News Network Doha The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has officially announced the launch of the Integrated Care for Older People (ICOPE) Clinic at Qatar University Health Centre on Thursday, May 15, 2025, a new step forward in expanding services dedicated to the elderly population. This expansion follows the successful implementation of the service in three other health centres where the clinic is already active: Leabaib: Mondays, 8am to 1pm; Al Wajba: Wednesdays, 8am to 1pm; and Rawdat Al Khail: Thursdays, 8am to 1pm. The launch of the clinic at Qatar University Health Centre marks a significant addition, reaffirming the success of the initiative and the effectiveness of its services in supporting the health of older adults. What is the ICOPE Screening Tool? The ICOPE screening tool was developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) to address the various physiological changes associated with aging. The risks of experiencing declines in physical and mental capacities increase for older adults. In collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), the pilot phase of this service will be targeted at older people aged 60 and above. The clinic offers a person-centred, integrated care model managed by a multidisciplinary team. The Screening Tool Assesses: Visual impairment, hearing loss, cognitive decline and depressive symptoms, malnutrition, and mobility loss and falls. Currently, the service is available only to registered patients at Qatar University Health Centre. Eligible patients are identified and invited to undergo screening. PHCC will announce at a later stage when the service is expanded to accept referrals from all health centres. The clinic operates every Thursday from 8am to 1pm at Qatar University Health Centre.
