How India broke the web of Turkey's most-famous Bayraktar drones, Erdogan is now worried because...

Bayraktar TB2 (File) How India destroyed Turkey's Bayraktar TB2 drones: Due to the massive success of Akash air defence system and Akashteer intelligent warfare, a sense of panic has spread across the US. However, there is another country which actively helped India's enemy during the recent India-Pakistan tensions and as a result, it's defence industry has taken a massive hit. Reports have it that Pakistan used Turkey's Bayraktar TB2 drone during its recent conflict with India. In order to counter the drone threat, the Indian Armed Forces shot down all the drones received from Turkey by Pakistan using the indigenous 'Akashteer' air defense system. About Akashteer air defense system Akashteer is a vehicle-based air defence system designed to automate detection, tracking and engagement of enemy aircraft, drones and missiles. It integrates various radar systems, sensors and communication technologies into a single operational framework. With its intelligent warfare capabilities, Akashteer showcased India's dominance in real-time, automated air defence warfare. As per a report by PIB, Akashteer is part of the broader C4ISR (Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) framework, working in coordination with other systems. How India destroyed Turkey's Bayraktar TB2 drones Media reports have said that the Akashteer air defense system was extensively used to counter Turkish drone threat during the recent India-Pakistan tensions. A senior army official was quoted as saying by a Navbharat Times report that 'not even a single drone was able to achieve its target'. Pakistan, Turkey and Azerbaijan set to strengthen anti-India nexus The growing nexus between Islamabad-Ankara-Baku is expected to deepen and broaden further during the visit of Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Azerbaijan after concluding his ongoing visit to Iran. According to reports, a trilateral summit of Pakistan, Turkey and Azerbaijan is expected to be held in Lachin, a strategic city that connects Azerbaijan to Armenia, in the next 48 hours to take 'important decisions on joint strategies' in several fields, including defence. BJP Planning To Distribute Sindoor On Modi Govt's Anniversary? PIB Fact-Checks Viral Claim

Last Updated: Before the PIB's fact-check, the BJP had already dismissed as fake news a report claiming that the party plans to distribute vermilion to women to mark government's anniversary. The Press Information Bureau's fact-check unit on Friday dismissed reports claiming that the BJP planned to distribute vermilion (sindoor) to women as part of a nationwide campaign to mark the Modi government's anniversary. The false report emerged after the BJP announced an outreach campaign—scheduled to start on June 9, the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi took oath for his third term—to highlight the party's achievements over the past 11 years. 'Some social media posts and media reports are claiming various decisions to mark the anniversary of Modi 3.0. The claim is fake," the PIB said in an X post. While the party has not officially disclosed its full plans, it has indicated that the month-long campaign will feature BJP leaders, including Union ministers and MPs, undertaking 'padyatras" to showcase achievements such as Operation Sindoor and the government's stance on the caste census, among others. He accused opposition parties, which had cited the report to slam the BJP for politicising Operation Sindoor, of spreading this propaganda to belittle India's military action against Pakistan and terror sites there. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had slammed the Modi government on Thursday after the prime minister launched a sharp political attack on her government. Referring to the fake report, she said, 'Please remember, every woman has respect, they accept sindoor only from her husband… The way you are talking… you are not the husband of everybody; why are you not giving sindoor to your Mrs first?" Brazil economic growth stays strong, supported by farm output, investments

BRASILIA, May 30 (Reuters) - Brazil's economy posted robust growth in the first quarter despite climbing interest rates as fixed investments, household consumption and strong farm output underpinned activity, pushing inflation to a two-year high. Gross domestic product in Latin America's largest economy rose 1.4% in the January-to-March period from the previous quarter, government statistics agency IBGE said on Friday, in line with the growth forecast in a Reuters poll of economists. GDP expanded 2.9% from a year earlier, below expectations for a 3.2% increase. On the supply side, agriculture stood out with a 12.2% gain from the previous quarter, fueled by a bumper soybean harvest. Services, which make up roughly 70% of Brazil's economy, expanded 0.3% amid a tight labor market, while industrial output slipped 0.1%. On the demand side, investments measured by gross fixed capital formation stood out with a 3.1% rise from the prior quarter. Household consumption also contributed with 1.0% growth, supported by measures from leftist President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to boost disposable income, including a minimum wage hike. Government spending increased by 0.1%. The strong economic performance came despite the central bank's aggressive monetary tightening, which has raised the benchmark Selic interest rate by 425 basis points since September, to a nearly 20-year high of 14.75%. The government expects soaring interest rates to weigh more on economic activity in the second half of the year, projecting GDP growth to slow to 2.4% in 2025 from 3.4% last year.

Cabinet clears Rs. 3,653 crore Badvel-Nellore highway project to boost industrial connectivity in Andhra Pradesh

In a significant push to infrastructure and logistics enhancement in Andhra Pradesh, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the construction of a 4-lane highway corridor from Badvel to Nellore. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The project will be implemented under the Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Transfer (DBFOT) model at an estimated capital cost of Rs. 3,653.10 crore, according to PIB press release. The 108.134-kilometre-long corridor will begin at Gopavaram Village on National Highway 67 (NH-67) in YSR Kadapa district and terminate at Guruvindapudi near Krishnapatnam Port Junction on NH-16 (part of the Chennai-Kolkata corridor) in SPSR Nellore district. This strategic route will provide improved access to Krishnapatnam Port and connect key nodes across three major industrial corridors in the state. These include: Kopparthy Node on the Visakhapatnam–Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC) Orvakal Node on the Hyderabad–Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (HBIC) Krishnapatnam Node on the Chennai–Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC) According to the government, the new corridor will reduce the travel distance between Badvel and Krishnapatnam Port by nearly 34 kilometres- from 142 km to 108.13 km- cutting travel time by an estimated one hour. This reduction will significantly lower fuel consumption and vehicle operating costs, contributing to both economic efficiency and environmental sustainability through a decreased carbon footprint. The project is also expected to generate substantial employment during its development. Estimates suggest the creation of approximately 20 lakh man-days of direct employment and 23 lakh man-days of indirect employment. Additionally, the improved infrastructure is anticipated to catalyze economic activity and job opportunities in the surrounding areas. Officials say the enhanced road infrastructure will contribute positively to India's Logistics Performance Index (LPI), further strengthening supply chain connectivity and boosting industrial growth in the region.
