It's been over a decade since PK first hit the big screen, but the charm of the alien in a red helmet still hasn't faded. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani and starring Aamir Khan, the 2014 satirical drama became one of Bollywood's biggest hits both critically and commercially. With its mix of humour, heart, and social commentary, PK sparked conversations and broke records. Ever since, fans have often wondered: will there be a PK 2? Well, we finally have an answer from the man himself. Aamir Khan addressed the long-standing buzz around a sequel to the blockbuster. Shutting down speculation once and for all, he told us, 'The possibility of PK 2? No, Raju (director Rajkumar Hirani) and I have never discussed it—never. I know there were rumours because of the ending, but we were just having fun with that. We never had any actual plans. It was a nice ending, yes, but there's no plan to make PK 2." The quote refers to the film's closing scene, which cheekily hinted at a possible sequel when PK (Aamir) returns to Earth, this time with another alien, played by Ranbir Kapoor. That small scene was enough to fuel fan theories and hopes. PK was written by Hirani and Abhijat Joshi and jointly produced by Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra under the production banners of Rajkumar Hirani Films and Vinod Chopra Films, respectively. A religious satire addressing superstition and pseudoprophets, the film starred an ensemble cast of Aamir Khan (as the title character), Anushka Sharma, Sushant Singh Rajput, Boman Irani, Saurabh Shukla and Sanjay Dutt. PK was released on 19 December 2014. Meanwhile, Aamir Khan is currently busy promoting his upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par, which drops in theatres on June 20, 2025. It marks Aamir's return to the big screen after a brief break since Laal Singh Chaddha. Sitaare Zameen Par is a sports comedy drama film directed by R. S. Prasanna, and produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit. A spiritual successor to Khan's 2007 film Taare Zameen Par, it stars Khan and Genelia Deshmukh. It is a remake of the Spanish film Champions. Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra and Simran Mangeshkar will make their Hindi cinema debut in Sitaare Zameen Par. Aamir Khan And Lokesh Kanagaraj To Team Up For A High-Octane Superhero Film
New Delhi: Aamir Khan is all set to embark on an exciting new journey. The actor has teamed up with Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj for a big-scale superhero film. The highly anticipated project is slated to begin production in the latter half of 2026. Aamir confirmed the news during a media interaction on Thursday, as reported The Hollywood Reporter. What's Happening After Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan is all set to team up with Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj, for a superhero movie. As per a report on The Hollywood Reporter, the actor confirmed the news on Thursday. The actor said, "Lokesh and I are doing a film together. It's a superhero film — a big-scale action outing. The film will begin in the second half of 2026. We have both signed it. I cannot reveal anything further." Denying rumours of PK 2, Aamir added, "That's a rumour. This is the first time I am hearing about it.' The actor also confirmed a biopic on the pioneering filmmaker and the father of Indian cinema, Dadasaheb Phalke. "The Dadasaheb Phalke biopic is happening. Raju (director Rajkumar Hirani) and I are working on it," he confirmed. Aamir Khan's Other Upcoming Projects Aamir Khan also opened up about his long-held ambition of adapting the Mahabharat on screen. He said, ' Mahabharat has been my dream for the last 25 years. A subject like that will require intense preparation. Unless I have walked that path and created an initial foundation, I cannot say if my dream will come true. But I am going to begin work on it.' Sitaare Zameen Par Meanwhile, Aamir Khan's upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par is set to release on June 20. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film is a spiritual sequel to Aamir's 2007 film Taare Zameen Par. The original also featured Darsheel Safary and Tisca Chopra in key roles. Sitaare Zameen Par features Genelia D'Souza as the female lead. As for the plot, Aamir Khan plays the role of a basketball coach who has the task of mentoring a team of individuals with special needs. Bankrolled by Aamir Khan Productions, the movie also introduces 10 debutants - Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra and Simran Mangeshkar. In A Nutshell Aamir Khan confirmed that he is in talks with Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj for a superhero film. The film is slated to release in theatres on June 20, 2025. News of Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani reuniting for their third collaboration for a biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke, Father of Indian Cinema, has been making the rounds for a while. An official statement from Aamir Khan's team stated, "It's surprising that no one in Hindi cinema has yet told us the story of cinema in cinema. VFX studios from LA have already created AI designs for the era and period of the film." Now Pinkvilla has reported that Aamir was brainstorming on multiple scripts before he finalised his next with Rajkumar Hirani. Another interesting update shared by the source is that PK 2 is in the works. What's Happening Aamir Khan will begin prep for Rajkumar Hirani's Dadasaheb Phalke biopic soon after the release of Sitaare Zameen Par. The actor was busy developing 10 scripts simultaneously before he gave a nod to Rajkumar Hirani's film. A close source told Pinkvilla, "Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani have together dreamt of making a film on the Father of Indian Cinema - Dadasaheb Phalke and the script work was going on for the longest time. While Raju was working on Dadasaheb Phalke, Aamir was simultaneously creatively involved in developing multiple scripts - ranging from two Rajkumar Santoshi films: Char Din Ki Zindagi and Andaz Apna Apna 2 to Ujjwal Nikam biopic with Dinesh Vijan, the Anurag Basu directed Kishore Kumar and a film with Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra among others." The source added, "Aamir is a creative person, and loves to work on content that has potential. He did ample meetings and is committed to delivering content that hits the bullseye. Every film that he discussed could happen shortly, though, at the moment, he is all committed to playing Dadasaheb Phalke." For everyone who has been waiting for an announcement regarding a sequel to PK, the source revealed, "There's a definite idea for PK 2, which Hirani, Abhijat and Aamir are excited about and they will revisit it after the Dadasaheb Phalke. It's a plot that organically leads itself to a sequel, with Aamir Khan and Ranbir Kapoor, but the boat is far away from sailing. Ranbir too is aware of the idea and is excited to play an alien." The Dadasahab Phalke biopic will mark their third project together and hence fans are excited. Jr NTR's Dadasahab Phalke Biopic Jr NTR is also a part of another Dadasahab Phalke biopic in the making. Titled Made In India, the project is being produced by Varun Gupta and SS Karthikeya and backed by SS Rajamouli. The film was announced in 2023.
