Provide clarity and announce proper guidelines on Annadata Sukhibhava scheme: A.P. Tenant Farmers Association
The Andhra Pradesh Tenant Farmers Association has demanded that the State government provide clarity and announce proper guidelines regarding the Annadata Sukhibhava scheme. The association secretary Maganti Haribabu and others, in a statement on Wednesday, expressed concern that during the recent Cabinet meeting, the government did not issue a clear statement on the implementation of the scheme. According to some media reports, the State seems to be waiting for funds from the Central government before initiating the scheme. Currently, the Central government provides ₹6,000 in three instalments under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi to land-owning farmers. However, tenant farmers are excluded from that benefit, the reports said. In the recent budget session, the Agriculture Minister had announced in both the Legislative Assembly and the Council that the government would amend the Tenant Farming Act and provide the Annadata Sukhibhava benefit to all tenant farmers. However, now with the agricultural season approaching and no announcement of operational guidelines, several doubts have arisen. There are doubts whether the benefits will be extended to all tenant farmers or only to SC, ST, and BC categories like the previous government did, leaving out the OC category. If multiple tenants cultivate under a single landowner, will all of them receive the benefit or only one, remains another. These are some of the unresolved issues. Therefore, the government must immediately issue clear guidelines regarding the Annadata Sukhibhava scheme. As the agricultural season begins, ₹20,000 should be credited in one instalment into the bank accounts of all tenant farmers in the State to help them with investment needs. Delays may force tenant farmers into the clutches of private moneylenders, leading to severe losses. Hence, the State government should recognise tenant farmers through 'gram sabhas' (village assemblies) without insisting on landowner consent. Every identified tenant farmer should receive the Annadata Sukhibhava benefit, the association added

Zero achievement: Karnataka BJP on Cong govt completing two years
Bengaluru: The Karnataka BJP on Tuesday slammed the Congress government for its 'Sadhana Samavesha' celebration to mark two years of coming to power, claiming that it has zero achievements and endless advertisements. State BJP President B. Y. Vijayendra said, "Beyond the glossy headlines and front-page ads, government stands exposed for rampant corruption, relentless price hikes, soaring farmer suicides, alarming maternal deaths, escalating crimes against women, Hindu lives under constant threat, deteriorating infrastructure, safe harbour for anti-national elements, skyrocketing unemployment, broken promises and failed guarantees, stalled development and suspension of farmer welfare schemes like PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi, Raitha Vidyanidhi, and more. " "The youth, women, and elderly are completely disillusioned. Their daily struggles are magnified by continuous price hikes and the increased financial strain on their savings," Vijayendra charged. He stressed that "rising atrocities" and "crimes" have pushed Karnataka into the national and international spotlight for all the wrong reasons. "Namma Bengaluru, once hailed as the Silicon Valley of the East, is now plagued by pothole-ridden roads, choking traffic, frequent flooding, and overflowing sewage. Tech giants are pulling out, investors are alarmed, and infrastructure is collapsing - but the government remains indifferent," Vijayendra criticised. "Farmers, our backbone, were abandoned during their time of distress. Their cries are unheard by this heartless government," he stated. Maternal mortality is at an all-time high, reflecting a shattered healthcare system and a government that has failed its most vulnerable, he noted. Vijayendra claimed that when it comes to real work, the Congress government has nothing to show. The only 'Sadhana' this government has mastered is "lavish spending" on offices and "deceptive" advertisements, he said. Notably, the BJP, in full-page newspaper advertisements, released posters on how prices of essential commodities have increased during the tenure of the Congress-led government in Karnataka. The BJP has provided a comparative chart of prices of essential commodities and the schemes and projects brought out during the tenure of the BJP and halted by the Congress-led government.

Network issues, tracking woes hinder registration of 30 per cent of Tiruchy's farmers under 'Farmer Registry'
TIRUCHY: Out of the total 1.83 lakh identified farmers in the district, the agriculture and farmers' welfare department has enrolled about 1.25 lakh under the 'Farmer Registry' so far. With the deadline to register in the centralised registry that aims to streamline access to government benefits set at April 30, agriculture officials grapple with network issues and even tracking several of the remaining 30% farmers down to ensure they aren't left behind. With 'many' of the farmers in the list based on the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme beneficiary rolls showing 'little' interest in registering on their own, agriculture officials say that they are making efforts to ensure all eligible farmers are brought under the 'Farmer Registry'. Under the PM-Kisan scheme, an assistance of Rs 6,000 per year is provided to farmers. The money is directly credited to the farmer's bank account. To streamline access to government benefits like under the PM Kisan scheme as well as boost market opportunities for farmers, the state's agriculture department is carrying out their registration and well as their landholdings in the 'Farmer Registry'. The 'Farmer Registry' is being implemented as part of the Union government's Agri Stack programme. While farmers can register themselves, the agriculture department, besides reaching out to them individually, is conducting special camps to collect their data and e-signature, and generate unique IDs. An agriculture official, however, said, "Several farmers have migrated to other places for work, making it difficult for us to contact them on the phone. The registration process requires the entry of OTPs sent to their (farmer's) registered mobile number thrice. Many farmers also struggle to follow our instructions over the phone. Network issues further complicate the process, even though the farmers express willingness to cooperate." Further, a significant number of farmers depend on others for providing us with the required details, which led to further delay, the official added. Issues with farmers' land records also pose a significant challenge in completing the registration, officials said. The department, however, remains confident of completing the registration on time, they added.
