Haryana targets 2.2 lakh rooftop solar installations
In a major push towards clean and sustainable energy, Haryana has set a target of installing 2.2 lakh rooftop solar (RTS) systems under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG: MBY) by 2026–27 fiscal. Haryana chief secretary Anurag Rastogi chairing a meeting in Chandigarh on Thursday. (Sourced) The roadmap was unveiled during the state-level coordination committee (SLCC) meeting that chief secretary Anurag Rastogi chaired while senior officers presented the scheme's progress and outlined strategies for faster rollout. The state also aims to solarise all government buildings by 31 December 2025, without availing any central financial assistance (CFA). Surveys have already been conducted on 4,523 government buildings, identifying a cumulative solar potential of 122 MW. 'Haryana is not just promoting solar energy, we are ensuring it reaches the doorstep of every household, especially in rural areas,' said chief secretary Rastogi. Additional chief secretary (ACS-energy) AK Singh said so far 30,631 rooftop solar (RTS) installations have been done in the state and the state DISCOMs are working on bringing special booster schemes for accelerating the RTS installations. Haryana has also launched the model solar village (MSV) initiative, under which one village in each district will be developed as a self-sufficient solar-powered hub. Villages with a population of over 5,000 are eligible for a CFA up to ₹1 crore. Balu village in Kaithal has already earned the distinction of becoming the state's first MSV, with selections underway in Karnal and Kurukshetra. These villages are being equipped with solar-powered streetlights, home lighting systems, water supply systems, and pumps, creating a 24x7 green energy ecosystem.

Haryana aims to solarise all govt buildings by Dec
Last Updated: Chandigarh, Aug 7 (PTI) Reinforcing its leadership in green energy adoption, Haryana aims to solarise all government buildings by December 2025, an official statement said here on Thursday. 'The state aims to solarise all government buildings by December 31, 2025, without availing any Central Financial Assistance (CFA). 'Surveys have already been conducted on 4,523 government buildings, identifying a cumulative solar potential of 122 MW," the statement said. In a major push towards clean and sustainable energy, Haryana has set an ambitious target of installing 2.2 lakh rooftop solar (RTS) systems under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG: MBY) by 2026-27. The roadmap was unveiled during the State-Level Coordination Committee (SLCC) meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, where senior officers presented the scheme's progress and outlined strategies for faster rollout. 'Haryana is not just promoting solar energy, we are ensuring it reaches the doorstep of every household, especially in rural areas," Chief Secretary Rastogi said. To make the transition to solar financially viable, the government is offering dual subsidies — Central Financial Assistance (CFA) by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, which is directly transferred to consumer bank accounts within 15 days of installation approval, and State Financial Assistance (SFA) for 1 lakh 'Antyodaya' families, provided on a first-come first-serve basis. These twin subsidies significantly reduce the upfront cost of installation for economically weaker sections. These combined incentives will provide sufficient financial aid for encouraging large-scale adoption among middle and service class sections, he said. In a bid to inspire community-wide transformation, Haryana has also launched the model solar village (MSV) initiative, under which one village in each district will be developed as a self-sufficient solar-powered hub. To facilitate smooth implementation, Haryana's Discoms have developed an integrated online portal and established over 280 help desks across subdivisions. MNRE, Odisha discuss clean energy roadmap, focus on Green Hydrogen export
New Delhi: Odisha is set to play a key role in India's clean energy transition, with the state aiming to become a major producer and exporter of Green Hydrogen derivatives and intensify rooftop solar adoption under two national flagship schemes. This was reviewed during a high-level meeting chaired by Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) Secretary Santosh Kumar Sarangi and Odisha Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja. Highlighting Odisha's potential, the MNRE Secretary said the state is 'uniquely positioned to play a critical role in India's Green Hydrogen scale up' and is attracting 'significant interest from domestic investors' for production of Green Hydrogen derivatives such as Green Ammonia and Green Methanol, particularly near Paradip and Gopalpur ports. According to MNRE, the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) aims to position India as a global hub for Green Hydrogen production, usage, and export. The Odisha government expressed commitment to establish the state as a preferred destination for investment in this sector. The meeting included participation from senior officials of central ministries, state departments, and Green Hydrogen developers, focusing on challenges in developing large-scale Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia projects, particularly at the SEZ in Gopalpur. Chief Secretary Ahuja said Odisha's strategic coastal location, industrial ecosystem, and policy framework make it favourable for Green Hydrogen production and export. He also noted challenges such as water availability, large-scale renewable energy integration, and infrastructure needs. The performance of the state under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (PMSG: MBY) was also reviewed. MNRE instructed District Collectors to expedite the pace of rooftop solar installations. Ahuja directed officials to conduct regular SLBC meetings, coordinate with vendors and bankers for prompt loan sanctions, and implement the Utility-Led Aggregation (ULA) model with focus on low-income households installing systems below 1 kW. The Ministry shared best practices from other states under PM-KUSUM to scale up agricultural solarisation. The Chief Secretary directed the state nodal agency to adopt Feeder Level Solarisation in Odisha to extend clean energy to the farming community.
