12 lakh new admissions in government schools: Rajasthan education minister

Rajasthan has witnessed a remarkable increase of more than 12 lakh new students enroling in government schools this academic year, Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar confirmed on surge marks more than double the enrolment compared to the previous year and signals growing public confidence in state-run minister attributed this growth to improved standards of education, better infrastructure, and proactive policies such as the Praveshotsav campaign, which extended the admissions deadline for classes 9 to 12 until August 16 to accommodate more CONNECTED TO PRAVESHOTSAV CAMPAIGN Under the Praveshotsav initiative, Rajasthan saw enrolments rise to 12.27 lakh in 2025-26, compared to 5.97 lakh in the preceding year -- representing more than a twofold record turnout was driven by mass drive activities and community mobilisation at school levels to attract students to public performance in Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) exams also boosted state recorded high pass percentages: 98.4% in Science, 99% in Commerce, and 97.8% in Humanities streams for Class 12, Class 10 and Class 8 recorded pass rates of 93.6% and 96.6% RISE REFLECTS QUALITY GAINSMinister Dilawar explained that the state's standing improved significantly in a recent national education survey. Rajasthan now ranks third among Indian states, up from its previous position of around 13th or improvement was noted as a sign of enhanced learning outcomes and educational delivery across government stated, 'This time, more than 12 lakh enrolments have taken place, i.e. new students have taken admission in government schools. The reason for this is that the inclination towards government schools has increased."The standard of education in government schools has improved in the last 1.5 years. The national survey that has been conducted has given us better results than the average," he ON INFRASTRUCTURE AND ENGAGEMENTThe surge is also attributed to upgraded facilities such as smart classes and IT labs, regular textbook distribution, and inclusive strategies like birthday celebrations at English medium schools to boost student government undertook community-level mass enrolments, with instances of dozens of new admissions logged in single days at rural officials hailed the numbers, stakeholder groups and teachers' associations stressed the need for continued improvement in Anganwadi and school infrastructure standards to sustain engagement beyond enrolment phases.(With inputs from ANI)- Ends
