World's largest single-site titanium remelting facility inaugurated in Lucknow

LUCKNOW: Defence minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated India's largest Titanium and Superalloy Materials Plant operated by Aerolloy Technologies Limited , a PTC Industries Limited subsidiary, and laid the foundation stones for additional state-of-the-art facilities under India's first Strategic Materials Technology Complex at the Lucknow node of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor . The newly inaugurated Titanium Plant spread across 50 acre has an annual capacity of 6,000 tonnes and stands as the world's largest single-site titanium remelting facility . Advanced technologies such as Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR), Electron Beam (EB), Plasma Arc Melting (PAM), and Vacuum Induction Melting (VIM) enable India to produce aerospace-grade materials domestically. Alongside the titanium plant, foundation stones for seven additional advanced facilities were laid, including the Aerospace Precision Castings Plant, which will enable Single Crystal Castings production crucial for jet engines; the Aerospace Forge Shop & Mill Products Plant, which will eliminate the need for imports of billets, bars, and plates for aerospace applications; and the Aerospace Precision Machining Shop, which will allow the export of ready-to-assemble ultra-precision CNC machined components. The STrIDE Academy will function as a skilling hub for CNC, robotics, welding, and mechatronics, while the R&D Centre will drive alloy and process breakthroughs. Collaboration with UK's Trac Precision Solutions will support India in mastering Single Crystal Airfoils production for jet engines. A company spokesperson stated that India's annual defence-grade materials imports, worth Rs 14,000 crore, were projected to rise to Rs 35,000 crore by 2026, but the Aerolloy complex would help reduce reliance on foreign suppliers. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Google Brain Co-Founder Andrew Ng, Recommends: Read These 5 Books And Turn Your Life Around Blinkist: Andrew Ng's Reading List Undo Defence Minister Rajnath Singh remarked, "We are not just inaugurating a plant—we are securing India's strategic future." Message of India's strength: Rajnath Singh at BrahMos missile facility inauguration

BrahMos is not just a weapon but a "message" of India's military strength, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said on Sunday at the inauguration of the largest integration and testing facility of the supersonic cruise missile said the facility is a concrete step towards making India an attractive defence product manufacturing hub.A huge market for selling arms and equipment awaits India and the government is moving ahead with the idea of making military equipment for the country as well as for exports, he said while virtually addressing the event from "India is now one of the most powerful nations in the world. We are constantly increasing our strength, and I believe that the facility centre that is being inaugurated today will help in further strengthening India's power," Singh said."BrahMos is one of the world's fastest, supersonic cruise missiles. BrahMos is not just a weapon, but it is a message in itself. A message of the strength of our armed forces. A message of our deterrence towards the enemy. A message of our commitment to safeguarding our borders," he country's largest BrahMos integration and testing facility centre at the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor will strengthen India's efforts towards self-reliance in the defence sector, the Defence Minister said."As you all know, whether it is the Government of India or the state government, our policy is very clear - Make in India, Make for World. For us, self-reliance in the defence sector has a very broad meaning. We are moving ahead with the idea that we have to make arms and equipment for ourselves, as well as export them to the whole world," Singh a report of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, Rajnath Singh said that the report stated that the world military expenditure in 2024 has increased to USD 2,718 billion.A huge market for arms and equipment is waiting for us, Singh said. "Therefore, we have to move forward with great strength towards developing India as an attractive defence product hub for the world. Today is another concrete step towards that idea," he quoted the 'Missile Man of India' and former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, who had said -- 'Unless India stands up to the world, no one will respect us. In this world, fear has no place, only strength respects strength".The Defence Minister said that India is one of the most powerful nations today, and the facility centre will help in further strengthening India's power."A good thing is that in this defence corridor, we are seeing very important participation of both public and private sectors," he the private sector, he noted that PTC Industries Limited is starting Titanium and super-alloy material plants. "Apart from this, the foundation of seven additional critical projects is also being laid. This will certainly accelerate the pace of India's self-reliance in the defence sector," the defence minister investments have been made in aircraft manufacturing, UAVs, drones, ammunition, composite and critical materials, small arms, textiles and parachutes, he said."When our government moved forward with the vision of a defence corridor in Uttar Pradesh... one of our objectives was that we should once again develop Uttar Pradesh as the production centre of the country."The UP Defence corridor passes through Lucknow, Kanpur, Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Agra and Aligarh, and all these nodes will emerge as new centres of development in the coming times," Singh expressed happiness that the project was completed in just 40 months."Looking at the circumstances around us today, it becomes very important that we continue to fulfil our goals in such a timely manner," Singh said and congratulated the DRDO, engineers and people and institutes associated with this said the inauguration of the BrahMos facility assumes importance as it took place on National Technology Day."On this day in 1998, under the leadership of respected Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji, our scientists showed India's strength to the world by conducting nuclear tests in Pokhran."That test was the result of the tireless efforts of our scientists, engineers, defence personnel and many other stakeholders. This is the day to recognise our scientists and engineers and acknowledge their contribution," he Technology Day commemorates the momentous events of May 11, 1998, when India successfully conducted nuclear tests under Operation Shakti, and saw the maiden flight of the indigenously developed Hansa-3 recognition of these achievements, the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee declared May 11 as National Technology Day."Today is an important day for me personally. Because I had a dream for my city, Lucknow, that my city would make a big contribution in strengthening India's defence sector, that dream is now being fulfilled," Rajnath Singh, who is the Lok Sabha MP from Lucknow, said."Today is a historic day for our city, Lucknow, our state Uttar Pradesh, and our entire country. "A major leap towards AtmanirbharBharat and a strategic boost to regional industrial growth," the Ministry of Defence said on Uttar Pradesh government had said the facility will manufacture one of the world's fastest supersonic cruise missiles, with a range of 290 to 400 km and a top speed of Mach missile, a product of BrahMos Aerospace, a joint venture between India and Russia, can be launched from land, sea, or air and uses a "fire and forget" Watch IN THIS STORY#Rajnath Singh
