‘Absolute disaster', Oasis fans cry as some punters MISS opening songs at Croke Park gigs over services & queue system

BUMPY START 'Absolute disaster', Oasis fans cry as some punters MISS opening songs at Croke Park gigs over services & queue system THOUSANDS of excited Oasis fans stormed Croke Park for the first night of the sold-out gigs for the famous British pop stars - but not everyone has been pleased by the facilities at GAA HQ. While the Gallagher brothers kicked off their first gig of the Dublin leg of the Oasis world reunion tour, some fans shared their experiences of lengthy queues and a struggle to reach bathrooms. 2 Many fans were left queuing up for over an hour Credit: X 2 Thousands of fans have flocked to the capital to see the Gallagher brothers perform this weekend Credit: Niall Carson/Pa Wire Advertisement Fans took to social media to complain that there wasn't a proper queue system for entering Croke Park, claiming it caused chaos as thousands of fans attempted to enter the once-in-a-lifetime gig. Louise O'Toole, a comedian excited to see the brothers perform, posted on TikTok: "Absolute disaster trying to get into Oasis on N1 in Croke Park. "An hour of this while waiting to get our wristbands for pitch standing." The fan shared a video of hundreds of Oasis fans trying to get their wristbands for their pitch standing while attempting to enter a bit faster to avoid missing performances. Advertisement Another fan wrote: "Croke Park needs to rework how it runs events. "No queuing system for entry to Oasis, bars at a snail pace with staff who don't know how to work a bar, could have brought cans in because there were no bag checks, felt like a stadium 30 years out of date. "Oasis is amazing despite the venue." It is understood that a number of standing section ticketholders were initially let in but weren't given a wristband, which is used to identify who has access to certain areas. Advertisement This meant the punters were later stopped from entering the area. First snippet of Oasis live in Dublin emerges And this caused many delays for fans trying to get onto the pitch and secure a spot to watch the gig. More video footage shared on social media shows many fans still trying to enter the stadium after Oasis started performing their first tune. Another fan added that the queues for the women's bathroom were "ridiculous", with many music punters missing the opening acts for Oasis. One said: "Came early. Pointed and directed in every direction for pitch standing, literally 40 minutes walking back and forth. Advertisement "Then got inside, took two hours to get back out to the bathroom. Was being sent in every direction but towards the women's toilets then the queue to get back out what absolute mayhem. "Missed the opening two oasis songs." DRNK PAIN And some music punters complained about the services in the venue, with fans taking over an hour just to grab a drink before the main act kicked off. Due to the long bar queues, some fans also missed the arrivals of the popular music brothers onstage, marking their first onstage appearance in Ireland for the first time since 2009. It was reported that no pints were poured in advance until the main act had taken to the stage, and a few bar staff had made their orders incorrectly, with a few people receiving drinks without paying. Advertisement However, that was not the only issue caused at the venue, as at the end of the gig, the planned pyrotechnics for the finale of the first gig were not going off due to a technical issue. 'INCREDIBLE GIG' Despite the hicups with the first night of the Dublin leg of the world tour, fans were still left pleased with the Oasis performance and their fantastic set list, with many fans wishing they could go back again. One fan took to social media saying: "Oasis are the greatest band of all time. Croke Park tonight was tune after tune after tune. "Utterly relentless. Took my 10 year old son to his first gig, he was spellbound by it." Another person wrote: "Just home, it was an incredible gig we were up in the upper tier above you. Never seen an atmosphere like it at a gig." Advertisement The third person said: "Anyone going tomorrow night, you'll see the best gig of your life. Just hit after hit. Incredible night"

Oasis in Croke Park: Fans travel from around the world for historic Dublin gig

Dublin has become the centre of the universe for Oasis fans as the band prepares to complete the second of two sold-out shows at the city's Croke Park in front of more than 80,000 people on Sunday (August 17). Hundreds even gathered outside the venue during the first concert on Saturday after not managing to secure tickets to the Gallagher brothers' return to Ireland, as Liam and Noel performed together under the Oasis moniker for the first time since 2009 on Irish soil. Fans have travelled from far and wide to be in Dublin for the shows, with one pair, Jason and Dongho Park, flying 15 hours from South Korea to witness the band's historic reunion tour. Elsewhere, fans have come from all corners of the globe to see the brothers strut out onto the Croke Park stage hand in hand. Over the two nights, more than 160,000 inside the stadium will experience the two-hour setlist live, with many gathering once more outside for a mass sing-along. Many attending Sunday's gig have congregated to Dublin's Temple Bar, where they've posed for pictures. Below is just a handful of those attending the second show.
