A third Northern Irishman at the club at that time, Niall McGinn, was also targeted. The envelope addressed to McCourt was found by staff at a Royal Mail sorting office in the east end of Glasgow on January 12 2011. He admits that Lennon's calmness in the face of the threats helped him too stay calm, particularly given his family were panicking. What made them even more worried was the fact they were back in Ireland at the time, with the bullets having been sent from a Northern Ireland postcode. Speaking on the Let Me Be Frank podcast, McCourt said: "At the time Lenny was the manager and he'd obviously suffered pretty high profile incidents like that before. "So having him there I had the ability to speak to him about it and his experiences on it, and you know he was pretty calm with it. "That helped me become calm with it and you know, it was just one of them things. "Thankfully it was a bit of a storm in a tea cup and nothing ever came from it and it seemed to disappeared pretty quickly. "But I think what he said was strange, you know, it was a strange thing to happen. "My mum was pretty worried and stuff, but, as I say, thankfully it went away quite as it came." 2 Keep up to date with ALL the latest news and transfers at the Scottish Sun football page

Paddy McCourt's nephew looks set for move to Championship club
The name McCourt looks set to be making football headlines for a few years to come as Paddy McCourt's nephew closes in on a move to Norwich City. Glenn McCourt is highly-rated by current club Derry City, who have staved off sizeable bids for the talented teen in the past. Advertisement However, it seems the 17-year-old is set to follow in his uncle's footsteps and make the move to English football. The East Anglia side have had a strong and long-standing interest in the player and look to have finally got their man. Advertisement Derry City confirmed last year that they had turned down 'two concrete and sizeable offers' from Premier League clubs for the highly-rated Northern Ireland youth international. Speaking after signing his first professional deal at the Brandywell last year McCourt outlined his long-term ambitions. 'I can understand why lads are tempted to go across, but I know myself that I'm not ready just yet' he said. 'I haven't played any men's senior football yet and I don't see much point in going across just to play more Academy football for a couple of years. 'Standard-wise the league of Ireland is a much better option and my first target is to make it into the senior squad here and complete for a place in that. Advertisement 'My ambition remains to play at the highest level possible and I'm desperate to make that happen. 'For me though, I'd much rather do that at 17 with some senior experience under my belt and make it a permanent move, rather than do it before I feel ready and end up back here a year later. 'I've been very lucky to have someone like my uncle Paddy to talk to, and my parents have been so supportive of any decisions I've made." McCourt senior is the current assistant manager at Glentoran, and he had a prolific playing career across the water playing for the likes of Celtic, Rochdale and Barnsley as well as playing 18 times for Northern Ireland.
