LU's foreign students to make Yoga Day truly international

Lucknow: For the first time, over 100 foreign students from Lucknow University will perform yoga on the International Day of Yoga on Jun 21 on the campus. Some students said it was going to be their first time performing yoga, with such a large number of students, teachers and non-teaching employees. Foreign students said it was yoga sessions at the university that helped them not only learn but also understand the benefits of the ancient practice. Most of them said they found it a great way to manage stress and had adopted and turned it into daily routine of 30 to 45 minutes. "I am looking forward to the opportunity to be part of the event on campus and to relax and refresh as well as connect with others in celebrating benefits of a healthy lifestyle," said Petrus Petrus from Namibia, pursuing BCom, adding, "Yoga helps clear mind and rejuvenate the body and for me, it's the first time I will be performing yoga in a large gathering. " MA English student Paimora Murodbekova from Tajikistan said, "I am excited to take part in International Yoga Day on the university campus. For me, yoga is not just an exercise but a way to connect body, mind and soul. It teaches us discipline, focus and gives inner peace that we can carry into our daily lives." Mringi Pius from Tanzania said, "It is not my first chance to perform yoga. We have yoga sessions on campus for physical and mental well-being and it promotes peace, harmony and self-realisation, contributing to global peace. Essentially, we are learning a philosophy of life that extends beyond physical exercise to encompass spiritual and societal well-being," said the student of master's in public administration. Sayuni Harun Ntullo, from Tanzania, pursuing a PhD in library and information science said, "It feels great to be part of a global movement promoting health and mindfulness.."
