
LU's foreign students to make Yoga Day truly international
Lucknow: For the first time, over 100 foreign students from
Lucknow University
will perform yoga on the International Day of Yoga on Jun 21 on the campus. Some students said it was going to be their first time performing yoga, with such a large number of students, teachers and non-teaching employees.
Foreign students said it was yoga sessions at the university that helped them not only learn but also understand the benefits of the ancient practice. Most of them said they found it a great way to manage stress and had adopted and turned it into daily routine of 30 to 45 minutes. "I am looking forward to the opportunity to be part of the event on campus and to relax and refresh as well as connect with others in celebrating benefits of a healthy lifestyle," said Petrus Petrus from Namibia, pursuing BCom, adding, "Yoga helps clear mind and rejuvenate the body and for me, it's the first time I will be performing yoga in a large gathering.

MA English student Paimora Murodbekova from Tajikistan said, "I am excited to take part in
International Yoga Day
on the university campus. For me, yoga is not just an exercise but a way to connect body, mind and soul. It teaches us discipline, focus and gives inner peace that we can carry into our daily lives."
Mringi Pius from Tanzania said, "It is not my first chance to perform yoga. We have yoga sessions on campus for physical and mental well-being and it promotes peace, harmony and self-realisation, contributing to global peace. Essentially, we are learning a philosophy of life that extends beyond physical exercise to encompass spiritual and societal well-being," said the student of master's in public administration.
Sayuni Harun Ntullo, from Tanzania, pursuing a PhD in library and information science said, "It feels great to be part of a global movement promoting health and mindfulness.."

Practice yoga daily
Kurnool: Cluster University Registrar Dr Katta Venkateswarlu said that everyone should start practicing yoga daily to become completely healthy. He urged all to make the International Yoga Day a big success. On Wednesday, he planted saplings in the college premises as part of Yogandhra programme at Cluster University Government Men's Degree College. College Principal Dr Indira Shanti said that irrespective of age everyone can practice yoga, which brings change in their lives. Tarakarama Stadium to host IYD celebrations on June 21
Srikalahasti: Sri Venkateswara University's Tarakarama Stadium is set to host the International Yoga Day (IYD) celebrations on June 21 on a grand scale, with around 10,000 participants expected to attend the event. In preparation for the programme, District Collector Dr S Venkateswar conducted a high-level review meeting on Wednesday, joined by SP V Harshavardhan Raju and Joint Collector Shubham Bansal. The review saw the participation of key officials including Tirupati Municipal Corporation Commissioner N Mourya, District Revenue Officer Narasimhulu, Tirupati RDO Rammohan, Vice-Chancellors from various universities, and others who attended virtually. During the meeting, the Collector instructed officials from various departments to make foolproof arrangements for the large-scale event. The Municipal Corporation was directed to ensure sanitation and drinking water facilities, while the Medical and Health Department was tasked with setting up health camps. The Police Department was asked to manage traffic efficiently and maintain law and order, ensuring no untoward incidents occur during the programme. He also instructed university Vice-Chancellors to ensure the participation of students and staff from their respective institutions. He urged the Education Department to facilitate the attendance of school and college students. He emphasised that all participants should be present at the venue by 6 AM on the day of the event. Ahead of the main programme, a mass yoga demonstration was organised at the iconic Gali Gopuram of the Srikalahasti temple on Wednesday, aimed at raising awareness about yoga among pilgrims and locals. Speaking on the occasion, Collector Venkateswar highlighted the importance of yoga, stating that it not only benefits the body but also enhances concentration and relieves mental stress. Srikalahasti MLA B Sudhir Reddy also spoke about the significance of yoga, noting that in the present stressful lifestyle, yoga has become essential for physical and mental wellbeing. 'To live a joyful and peaceful life, everyone should dedicate at least half an hour a day for themselves. It brings peace to the mind and soul,' he said. The awareness event at Srikalahasti saw active participation from Joint Collector Shubham Bansal, BJP State Secretary Kola Anand, Regional Director of Tourism R Ramana Prasad, Devasthanam EO T Bapi Reddy, District Tourism Officer Janardhan Reddy, various department officials, mandal-level officers, women, and students.

Yoga integral part of our cultural heritage
Ongole: Andhra Kesari University vice-chancellor Prof DVR Murthy said that yoga is an integral part of the Indian cultural heritage. He participated in a preparatory event for International Yoga Day celebrations and observed yoga sessions conducted at the AKU premises on Wednesday. He called upon AKU employees and staff to participate in the Yoga Day programme in large numbers and make it successful. He mentioned that International Yoga Day will be organised in Visakhapatnam on the 21st of this month, proceeding with the theme 'One Earth, One Health'. The VC emphasised that yoga provides a healthier and more peaceful life. He appreciated the yoga master trainer during the occasion and encouraged broader participation in yoga practices as part of the university's commitment to promoting wellness and cultural values. University college principal Prof Rajamohan Rao, CDC Dean Prof Somasekhar, NSS Coordinator Dr Mande Harsha Preetam Dev Kumar, PD Syed Aseefuddin, along with teaching and non-teaching staff and students participated in the programme.
