The review saw the participation of key officials including Tirupati Municipal Corporation Commissioner N Mourya, District Revenue Officer Narasimhulu, Tirupati RDO Rammohan, Vice-Chancellors from various universities, and others who attended virtually.
During the meeting, the Collector instructed officials from various departments to make foolproof arrangements for the large-scale event. The Municipal Corporation was directed to ensure sanitation and drinking water facilities, while the Medical and Health Department was tasked with setting up health camps. The Police Department was asked to manage traffic efficiently and maintain law and order, ensuring no untoward incidents occur during the programme.
He also instructed university Vice-Chancellors to ensure the participation of students and staff from their respective institutions. He urged the Education Department to facilitate the attendance of school and college students. He emphasised that all participants should be present at the venue by 6 AM on the day of the event.
Ahead of the main programme, a mass yoga demonstration was organised at the iconic Gali Gopuram of the Srikalahasti temple on Wednesday, aimed at raising awareness about yoga among pilgrims and locals. Speaking on the occasion, Collector Venkateswar highlighted the importance of yoga, stating that it not only benefits the body but also enhances concentration and relieves mental stress.
Srikalahasti MLA B Sudhir Reddy also spoke about the significance of yoga, noting that in the present stressful lifestyle, yoga has become essential for physical and mental wellbeing. 'To live a joyful and peaceful life, everyone should dedicate at least half an hour a day for themselves. It brings peace to the mind and soul,' he said.
The awareness event at Srikalahasti saw active participation from Joint Collector Shubham Bansal, BJP State Secretary Kola Anand, Regional Director of Tourism R Ramana Prasad, Devasthanam EO T Bapi Reddy, District Tourism Officer Janardhan Reddy, various department officials, mandal-level officers, women, and students.

Albendazole drive held to curb anaemia in children
Tirupati: The district observed National Deworming Day (NDD) on Tuesday with a massive outreach programme targeting students aged 1 to 19 years across schools and colleges. The initiative, aimed at ensuring the good health and well-being of children, seeks to combat anaemia and improve overall health among the young population. District Collector Dr S Venkateswar formally inaugurated the programme by administering Albendazole tablets to students at Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Municipal Corporation High School in Korlagunta. Speaking on the occasion, he stressed that good health is as essential as education for students' growth and success. He announced that 4,97,511 students in the district's target group will receive Albendazole deworming tablets. Explaining the ill-effects of intestinal worms in children, the Collector said that students who were absent on Tuesday will be given the tablets on August 20, designated as the 'Mop-up Day'. District Medical and Health Officer Dr V Balakrishna Naik said the programme was being conducted in coordination with Anganwadi centres, schools, and colleges, involving ASHA workers, ANMs, school teachers, and anganwadi staff. He added that apart from deworming, children are being educated on anaemia prevention, personal handwashing habits, worm prevention measures, and the importance of avoiding open defecation by using toilets. The event was attended by District Education Officer Kumar, State Nodal Officers Dr Srinivasa Varma and Dr Soujanya Lakshmi, DPMO Dr Srinivasa Rao, RBSK Programme Officer Dr Reddy Prasad, UPHC Medical Officer Dr Sindhu, Deputy DEMOs Kiran Kumar and Khaja Vali, RBSK Manager Gunasekhar, Headmaster Ravi, and several teachers and staff members.

Preserve tribal traditions while driving development: Tirupati Collector
Tirupati: Tirupati district Collector Dr S Venkateswar stressed that education is the only means to reach the highest peaks in society. He was speaking at the World Adivasi Day celebrations held at the local Tribal Welfare Building on Saturday. Addressing the gathering, the Collector noted that tribals across the world hold a distinct identity, with unique customs, traditions, and practices that must be preserved and promoted. He pointed out that the tribal diet is highly nutritious, and many doctors today recommend the consumption of naturally grown millets, traditionally eaten by tribals, to combat lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and other chronic ailments. Dr Venkateswar announced that Rs 20 lakh will be sanctioned for repairs to the Tribal Welfare Building, and efforts would be made to secure an additional Rs 10 lakh through discussions with the TUDA Chairman and the Corporation. He also mentioned that while ROFR (Recognition of Forest Rights) pattas have been distributed in some mandals, the process is pending in others and will be expedited within the next three to four months. Special measures will be taken to organise a dedicated job fair for Scheduled Tribes, he said. Basic amenities will be provided in tribal areas, and housing will be sanctioned under government schemes. The district is home to approximately 1.7 lakh tribals, including 1.42 lakh Yanadis, 11,000 Sugalis, 11,000 Erukala, and 6,000 Nakkala communities. Andhra Pradesh Handicrafts Development Corporation Chairman Dr Pasupuleti Hariprasad stated that the government's primary goal is to bring tribals into the path of development. He assured that steps are being taken to ensure fair pricing for the products crafted by tribal communities. TUDA Chairman G Narasimha Yadav, Tribal Welfare Department Officer Raja Somu and several tribal leaders attended the programme.

MP stresses need for more AYUSH hospitals in AP
Guntur: TDP floor leader and Narasaraopet MP Lavu Sri Krishnadevarayalu on Friday raised in the Lok Sabha the need to expand integrated AYUSH healthcare infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh. He said that apart from the proposed 50-bed hospitals in Kakinada and Visakhapatnam, there is a pressing need to set up more such facilities in backward regions like Rayalaseema, Palnadu and Ongole to meet public health needs. Highlighting that regions such as Rayalaseema and districts like Nandyal report a high prevalence of chronic diseases but have limited facilities, he stressed the importance of improving AYUSH infrastructure. He also urged special focus on Palnadu to bridge the regional gap in access to integrated healthcare. to the recent International Yoga Day celebrations in Visakhapatnam under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, he pointed out that nearly three lakh people had participated in the event. Responding to the question, Union Minister of State for AYUSH Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav said that post-bifurcation, healthcare infrastructure was being reallocated in Andhra Pradesh and additional AYUSH projects are being planned. He assured that proposals for new facilities in underserved areas will be considered in future expansion plans to make AYUSH systems widely accessible across the State.
