Ezpag: Startup Created by Former McDonald's Employee Surpasses $20 Million in Revenue in the U.S.

Focused on immigrants in the U.S., the Brazilian company is growing fast and preparing to open its first physical store in Florida MIAMI, May 30, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Founded in 2022 by Brazilian entrepreneur Lucas Paiva, the startup Ezpag has already surpassed $20 million in revenue in just two years of operation. Offering innovative credit solutions for immigrants in the United States, the company has stood out as one of the most promising players in the financial inclusion space. Ezpag was created to serve a segment often overlooked by traditional financial institutions: immigrants who have limited access to conventional credit systems. Many of them are unable to obtain financing despite having stable income and responsible financial behavior. Through its own platform, Ezpag allows customers to finance essential products, such as smartphones, in up to 60 weekly payments, using only a passport and proof of residence. The company uses behavioral analysis and internal data to evaluate creditworthiness in a way that goes beyond conventional scoring models. Artificial intelligence is also used extensively throughout the company to enhance credit evaluation, fraud prevention, and operational efficiency. "Our mission has always been to provide access—with responsibility. Most of our clients work hard, but they are invisible to the traditional credit system. We've created a structure that understands their reality and offers real financial solutions," says Lucas Paiva, CEO of Ezpag. Over 10,000 active clients across all 50 U.S. states Based in Miami, Ezpag has already served customers in all 50 U.S. states, even though its operations are centralized in Florida. The company now has over 10,000 active clients, with demand growing rapidly due to the unmet needs of immigrant communities. Next month, Ezpag will take an important step in its growth strategy with the opening of its first physical store in Florida. The store will allow the company to provide in-person service and strengthen its relationship with the community. "This is a symbolic and strategic milestone. We want to be even closer to our clients, and opening a physical space is key to that. We plan to open 10 more stores over the next two years, especially in areas with high concentrations of Brazilian and Latino populations," adds Paiva. Expanding product offerings Initially focused on smartphones, Ezpag is now expanding its portfolio to include iPhones, tablets, and laptops, all available through affordable installment plans. The company remains committed to helping immigrants gain access to technology and credit without bureaucracy. With a team of over 100 employees between Brazil and the U.S., Ezpag has attracted the attention of investment funds and accelerators focused on high-impact fintech solutions. About the founder Lucas Paiva, 31, is a Brazilian entrepreneur born in Itaborai (RJ) and raised in São Gonçalo. After moving to the U.S., he began working at McDonald's, and it was from his own experience as an immigrant that he developed the idea behind Ezpag. His journey of turning personal struggle into business success has inspired a new generation of Brazilian entrepreneurs abroad. Botafogo owner Textor faces fan fury over team's performance via leaked number

John Textor, the American businessman whose Eagle Football Group owns stakes in Olympique Lyonnais, Crystal Palace, and Botafogo, found himself directly in the firing line of Botafogo fans after his personal phone number was leaked online. The reigning Brazilian and South American champions have made a disappointing start to the season, prompting fans to express their discontent directly to the owner after his number started circulating in fans' WhatsApp groups in the country. The leak of Textor's number, the origin of which remains unknown but confirmed to Reuters by sources close to the club as genuine, led to an onslaught of messages from disgruntled fans. Neither Textor nor Botafogo have responded publicly, but the sources added that the matter is now in the hands of the police. Textor has faced intense scrutiny for the extended search to find a successor to coach Artur Jorge, who announced in January his departure to manage Qatar's Al-Rayyan. Jorge led Botafogo to a Brasileirao Serie A and Copa Libertadores double. The appointment of Portuguese coach Renato Paiva in late February, after failed attempts to secure Andre Jardine from Club America and former Real Madrid and Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, has not quelled the rising tide of dissatisfaction amongst the Botafogo faithful. Paiva, a lower-profile figure, took over a squad that had lost key players like Luiz Henrique and Argentina's Thiago Almada. Defeats in the South American Recopa and Brazilian Super Cup finals compounded an early exit from the Rio de Janeiro-based Campeonato Carioca. Despite the team's struggles, Textor stood by his appointment of Paiva, citing a belief in the coach's attacking philosophy. However, Botafogo's title defence has been lacklustre, recording two wins in eight matches under Paiva. Botafogo are third in Group A of the Libertadores and are 15th in the Brazilian top-flight with five points from five outings. Botafogo fans flooded social media with screenshots of text messages voicing dissatisfaction at the club's direction and demanding Paiva's removal. Some supporters even shared what they purport to be responses from Textor prior to his number change. REUTERS Join ST's Telegram channel and get the latest breaking news delivered to you.
