Hunt for hooded figure wanted for questioning over fatal Sydney stabbing
Police have released CCTV footage of a hooded figure carrying a large bag as detectives investigate the alleged murder of a man in Sydney's south-west earlier this year. On Saturday, March 15, police were called to a Belmore unit block at 9pm and found a man who had suffered multiple stab wounds. The man, later identified as 34-year-old James Pakis, was declared dead at the Lakemba Street unit. A 24-year-old man, who neighbours said was Pakis' best mate, was taken to hospital with injuries. Strikeforce Sandilands was launched to investigate the alleged stabbing, leading to the arrest of 21-year-old Johnathan Isaac Woods on March 17. Woods was charged with murder and remains behind bars after being refused bail. But police are now searching for another person of interest and released CCTV footage showing a hooded figure wearing black clothes and carrying a large blue bag. The person is shown crossing the street before being picked up by a black Honda Jazz with a damaged rear windscreen.
