Operation Sindoor, initiated on May 7, showcased a calibrated, tri-services response that embodied precision, professionalism, and purpose. Operation Sindoor was conceived as a punitive and targeted campaign to dismantle the terror infrastructure across the Line of Control and deeper inside Pakistan, as per the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting press release. Multi-agency intelligence confirmed nine major camps that were eventually targeted in the operation. India's retaliatory action was based on meticulous planning and an intelligence-led approach, which ensured that the operations were conducted with minimal collateral damage. Operational ethics were central to the mission, and restraint was exercised to avoid civilian harm, as per the press release. In the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, Pakistan initiated a series of retaliatory drone and UCAV attacks targeting key Indian airbases and logistics infrastructure. These attempts, however, were effectively neutralised by India's comprehensive and multi-layered air defence architecture. Central to this success was the Integrated Command and Control Strategy (ICCS), which facilitated real-time threat identification, assessment, and interception across multiple domains.

Owaisi's 'Chinese aircraft' dig at Pakistan PM, Army chief As Munir after Indian strikes

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi took a dig Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of the Army Staff Asim Munir on Tuesday, a day after top defence commanders revealed that India struck a Pakistan airbase leaving a crater on its runway. Director general of air operations, Air Marshal AK Bharti, addressed a special press conference on Tuesday along with other top defence commanders and stated that an Indian strike at Rahim Yar Khan airbase in Pakistan's Punjab had cause significant damage to the site. Air Marshal Bharti also showed videos of India's strikes at Pakistan's military establishments, including the one at Rahim Yar Khan airbase. In a jab at Pakistan's government and military, Owaisi targetted Islamabad's growing ties with China in a post on X. "Will S Sharif & A Munir be able to land their Leased Chinese Aircraft at Rahim Yar Khan Airbase?" he remarked. The AIMIM chief had previously hit out at Pakistan for sponsering cross-border terrorism. On Saturday, Owaisi said that peace between India and Pakistan was impossible as Pakistan continues to support terrorism from its soil. "Ceasefire or no ceasefire, we must pursue the terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam attack. There can be no permanent peace as long as Pakistan uses its territory for terrorism against India. I thank the armed forces for their bravery and commendable skill," he wrote in a post on X. (Also read: Owaisi reacts to India Pakistan ceasefire, says 'no permanent peace until…') Owaisi, a vocal critic of the Modi government, had joined the Opposition to support India's Operation Sindoor in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 tourists on April 22. The Hyderabad MP wrote 'Pakistan Murdabad' in a post on X and backed the Indian military op. He also came out in support of Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri after he was targetted by online trolls when he announced that India did not back out of the ceasefire deal after Pakistan violated the agreement. "Mr Vikram Misri is a decent and an Honest Hard working Diplomat working tirelessly for our nation. Our civil servants work under the executive. This must be remembered and they shouldn't be blamed for the decisions taken by The Executive/or any Political leadership running Watan E Aziz,' he said in a post on X.

Evacuation without panic: How fans exited Dharamsala stadium after IPL match called off

The security officials did a remarkable job ensuring there was no panic during the evacuation process after the IPL 2025 match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala was called off on Thursday, 8 May, following attacks by Pakistan in various parts of India.A fan, speaking to gave a detailed account of the incidents that transpired after the floodlights started to go out at the ground. The fan, who wished to remain anonymous, said that the north-east floodlight was the first to shut down just as PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer was making his way onto the field, causing the initial overs were bowled after Punjab won the toss and opted to bat. Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh stitched a 122-run stand for the first wicket when the first floodlight went off. The broadcasters cut to the commentary box without revealing details of why the match was halted. The official note from the IPL organisers, at the time, remained floodlight failure. "The northeast floodlight went off just as Shreyas Iyer came in and there was a delay in the game. Then the eastern floodlight went off. Once the second floodlight went off, the players were leaving the field. Immediately, the guards came up to us and told us to leave. They didn't tell us that the match was cancelled, they told us to leave," said the fan. There was no panic amongst the crowd as they made their way out of the stadium (Courtesy: PTI) advertisementThe fan said the evacuation process was very smooth and that there was no real panic among the spectators."We exited the stadium. There was proper lighting around the stadium. The evacuation was very smooth, there was no real panic. There were a lot of 'Bharat Mata ki jai', 'Pakistan Murdabad chants'. We were eventually ushered out. The people with me were in different stands and I waited for them to meet up as they had to go to McLeodganj.""I headed off for my stay. I got back in. After when I ventured out, around 10:30 pm, all the stalls were shut down. I saw armed troops on the streets," said the fan.'VERY SMART FROM SECURITY OFFICIALS'The fan said that the evacuation process was handled smartly by security officials, as they made no announcements about the evacuation or any security concerns. The fan felt that if an announcement had been made citing a security threat, it could have sparked fears of a stampede."I think this was very, very smart. No announcements regarding the evacuation or security concerns were made. They turned off one floodlight first and then said floodlight failure, so please leave. So no one panicked and everyone left in a very orderly manner. Had they announced it was a security concern, there would have been a fear of a stampede," said the the time we got to the place where the ticket checks were made, they had flattened all those barricades which opened up the ground for people to walk out. They had cops with megaphones asking people to not panic. Very neat stuff."IPL chairman Arun Dhumal was also seen helping with the evacuation process on secretary Devajit Saikia, speaking to India Today, said players and officials' safety is paramount, and a call will be taken on carrying on with the IPL 2025 season based on directives from the players from PBKS and DC, along with support staff of both teams and officials, will be travelling from Dharamshala to Delhi on a special train arranged by the with Pakistan escalated on Thursday as strikes were launched towards to the Jammu airstrip from Pakistan, with eight missiles and three drones intercepted by India's S-400 defence systems. UP Police Arrest Two For Stabbing 8-Year-Old For Celebrating Operation Sindoor

Last Updated: Within hours of the incident, members of Hindu Yuva Vahini and several local right-wing outfits reached the Mandi area and began protesting. 'Pakistan Murdabad' and 'Hindustan Zindabad' – chanting these slogans to celebrate the success of 'Operation Sindoor' turned deadly for an 8-year-old Shahjahanpur boy, who was allegedly stabbed by two youths in Shahjahanpur's Powayan area on Tuesday. On late Wednesday evening, UP Police arrested the two – identified as Moheed Khan, the prime suspect, and his accomplice Wasim – and registered a case under serious criminal charges. The Arrests 'We have arrested the main accused Moheed Khan and his associate Wasim. A case has been registered under BNS sections 115(2) (attempt to commit an offence punishable with life imprisonment), 118(1) (abetment of an offence), 351(2) (attempt to cause grievous hurt using a dangerous weapon), and 109(1) (common intention)," Harpal Singh Balyan, Inspector Powayan Police Station, Shahjahanpur told News18. Both of them were arrested late Wednesday night and were sent to jail on Thursday. Balyan said that further investigation has been launched to determine whether more individuals were involved in provoking or assisting the attack. Preliminary evidence includes eyewitness testimony and statements from the victim's family. The Incident The incident occurred on May 7 in the Mandi Samiti area of Shahjahanpur, amid heightened patriotic fervour following Operation Sindoor, India's strike targeting nine terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation came in response to the recent Pahalgam massacre, in which 26 Indian tourists were killed in a terror attack backed by Pakistan-based groups. Celebrations erupted across India following the news of the airstrikes, with citizens lighting fireworks, distributing sweets, and chanting slogans like 'Pakistan Murdabad' and 'Hindustan Zindabad'. However, in Shahjahanpur, this public expression of patriotism turned tragic. According to eyewitnesses, Surjeet, an 8-year-old boy from Dharmaangadpur village, had joined the crowd at the Mandi Samiti market when he shouted slogans criticising Pakistan. Moheed Khan, who was sitting nearby with some acquaintances, objected strongly to the remarks. The situation quickly escalated. Witnesses claim that Moheed confronted the boy, warning him against making derogatory remarks about another country. When Surjeet repeated the slogan defiantly, Moheed allegedly drew a knife and stabbed the boy in the arm, causing panic and chaos. 'I was standing just a few feet away. The boy was simply echoing what everyone was saying. But Moheed got agitated and began arguing. It escalated so fast that we couldn't even react before the attack happened," said Ramesh Pandey, a local vendor. The victim, bleeding and shocked, was rushed to a nearby clinic by bystanders. He is now reported to be in stable condition. Protests by Hindu Organisations; Tension in Market Area Within hours of the incident, members of Hindu Yuva Vahini and several local right-wing outfits reached the Mandi area and began protesting. Angry crowds blocked roads and demanded the arrest of all individuals involved, including a third person named Vakeel, believed to be associated with the accused duo. The local administration deployed additional police forces to prevent any communal flare-ups. Section 144 was temporarily enforced in sensitive zones of Powayan and surrounding areas. Market activity came to a halt as traders shuttered their shops amid rising tension. top videos View all Inspector Balyan and other police officials addressed the protesters, assuring them that strict action would be taken under the law. 'We are working on all angles. The law will take its course. We appeal to the public to maintain peace," he said. The police have increased surveillance around Mandi Samiti, Katra Bazaar, and the residential areas of both the victim and accused. Social media platforms are being monitored closely to prevent the spread of communal rumours or incitement. First Published:
