45-year-old Maoist leader gunned down in Palamu

Daltonganj: Security forces on Tuesday gunned down a 45-year-old Maoist area commander identified as Tulsi Bhuiyan and recovered a loaded SLR from him after an encounter in a jungle between Naiyya and Partapur under the Hussainabad police station of Palamu district since Monday night. The development comes a day after security forces gunned down 30-year-old Manish Yadav (30), a wanted sub-zonal commander of the CPI (Maoist) carrying a bounty of Rs 5 lakh on his head, in the adjoining Latehar district. Another rebel, Kundan Kherwar (35), was arrested with an X95 automatic weapon. Last week, the security forces killed JJMP supremo Pappu Lohra and his second-in-command Prabhat Ganjhu in an encounter. On Tuesday's encounter, police said the operation-cum-encounter was "well-planned" and "well-coordinated" by Palamu Police. Addressing the media, IG (Palamu zone) Sunil Bhaskar lauded Palamu Police for the planning and execution of the operation. DIG Y S Ramesh added, "Tulsi had two cases against him but he was turning notorious." Nitesh and five others, including Tulsi Bhuiyan, had taken refuge in a secluded area between Naiyya and Partapur, he added. In the ongoing fight against Maoists, Jharkhand police on Tuesday (May 27, 2025) gunned down Maoist commander Tulsi Bhuinya in Palamu district during a joint operation by Jharkhand Jaguar and Palamu Police. 'Operation is going on against Maoists in Palamu since early morning. Jharkhand Jaguar and Palamu Police personnel are involved in this operation. A Maoist commander has been killed in the encounter and a weapon has also been recovered. There are reports of many Maoists getting shot during the encounter.
