Why did bbno$ blur Asmongold from his latest music video: Uncovering Twitch drama, video erasure and more
(Image via YouTube/bbno$) The new music video from bbno$, the Canadian rapper, was released on May 29, 2025. With it came an unexpected turn, sparking widespread discussions, as the fans noticed Asmongold, the popular Twitch streamer, being mysteriously blurred out from it. The track mary poppins features many popular streamers from the group OTK. However, the face of Asmongold was replaced with the cartoon reptile. The deliberate visual censorship with the pointed opening message fuelled questions and debates across social media platforms, with many questioning if this was a moral statement or a personal jab. Why was Asmongold censored from mary poppins? BBNO$ Censored Asmongold Out Of His Music Video The censorship was not subtle. In the place of Asmongold, right alongside the other fellow OTK personalities, like Esfand, Mizkif, Emiru, and others, a cartoonish lizard image appeared. The lizard image took the place of Asmongold, and it was not a technical glitch but a clear and intentional choice, which signalled right from the opening seconds of the video. As soon as the video begins, the text disclaimer explicitly states the rationale of the artist. It read, " At the time of recording, I was unaware of certain individuals' ethical beliefs. As a result, I've chosen to censor those whose values I do not support ." Asmongold gets Face Censored from Entire bbno$ Music Video The statement framed blurring as the direct consequence of the values misalignment that was discovered after the video was filmed. No specific details were offered by Canada rapper bbno$ about the nature of the conflicting beliefs in the message. But bbno$ decision doesn't seem to be random. It can be traced back to the controversial remarks made by the streamer in late 2024 about the Israel-Palestine conflict that led to a significant backlash. The other layer of the disclaimer concluded the statement by saying, "Additionally, all funds generated by this video will be donated to the PCRF ( The donation that is supposed to be made to the Palestinian Children's Relief Fund has further hinted at the disagreement's potential nature and a direct response to Asmongold's past statements without explicitly calling him out. Uncovering the Twitch drama which forced Asmongold's edit The context of bbno$ decision could be traced back to last year. It was in October 2024, when Asmongold during a livestream made a controversial comment. It was about the Palestine-Israel conflict and his remarks were perceived by many to not just be dehumanizing but also inflammatory. It ignited significant backlash across the online community against him. Asmongold's fallout was huge. He even faced a temporary ban from Twitch and subsequently stepped down from the leadership position in OTK. The incident fundamentally altered Asmongold's perceptions in some circles. While mary poppins' video was filmed before (in May 2024, reportedly), before the comments and the bans, Canada rapper bbno$ did know about them before the release of the video. The public stance of the rapper, emphasized by PCRF donation, contrasted directly with Asmongold's past statements. The clash within the ethical beliefs led bbno$ to implement censorship and effectively erase the visible participation of the streamer to avoid association with the views he rejected explicitly. How did Asmongold react to being censored from mary poppins? addressing the controversy.. The situation was addressed by Asmongold on May 30, 2025, on social media and during the Twitch stream. The reaction was notably measured. It lacked public dispute or personal anger. On X, he took it easy and posted the reptile graphic, covering his face. His post read, " Very generous of them to give me more teeth in post production, never had someone care like that before" During the stream, he even elaborated further and showed an understanding of the position of bbno$. He stated, 'There's no ill will or any negativity about it. I just think that he doesn't want to be involved with my politics." Asmongold even acknowledged that his controversial online persona and the resultant hate, along with widespread discussion, have created pressure for others. He explained, 'This is why I moved a lot away from collabing and doing anything with anybody else" He further added, " I'm not going to expect people to put their career on the line ." Asmongold, with this, ensured to express feeling bad about potentially wasting the time of those involved in the shoot. However, he did accept the artist's rights to make the final call. Either way, Asmongold's calm reaction suggests he expected this, but the fans are undivided. While some argue that Canada rapper bbno$ took a principled stand, others see it as virtual signalling. The incident, though, highlights the growing trend that artists and streamers are distancing themselves from the polarizing figures to avoid any backlash. Asmongold controversy 2024 is not isolated. There are other creators who have faced exclusions over their past remarks, and these incidents highlight that old controversies truly never faced. They just get blurred out.

Jew blaming
Netanyahu govt actions have isolated Israel from global south and the west and stoked anti-semitism. Yitzhak Rabin was the last leader to effectively foster a political-diplomatic solution to the Palestine-Israel impasse. He was assassinated by a settler. You reap what you sow. — Peter Byard Davis (@PeterByardDavis) May 7, 2025 This is a very very disappointing tweet from Peter Davis, who I normally find to be much more thoughtful. He is basically saying that Jews in Wellington deserve to have grafitti scrawled against them, because of the actions of the Israeli Government. Would he excuse graffiti that says they hate Hindus because of the actions of the Indian Government? Or grafitti that says they hate Americans because of the actions of the US Government? Conflating Jews with the Israeli Government is in itself classic anti-semitism. While the vast majority of Jews support the right of Israel to exist, there is a huge variation of opinion about the current Israeli Government, the war in Gaza, settlements, boundaries etc. Jews have a religion in common, but are very politically diverse. So for Davis to justify graffiti that spreads hatred towards Jews on the basis of what the Government of Israel does is not at all good. Benjamin Netanyahu won't see graffiti in Wellington. It won't influence him. The people who will see it is Jewish kids and Jewish families who live in Wellington and have to put up with this racism.

Israel's ‘Conquest' of Gaza: Netanyahu Announces New Plans Threatening Ethnic Cleansing
Rabat – The Gaza genocide has somehow taken an even more dire turn for the worse, as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel is preparing new, more intense attacks on the Palestinian enclave. In a video message posted in Hebrew, Netanyahu said the goal is to defeat Hamas, but also specifically mentioned that Gaza's population 'will be moved, for its own protection.' However, he did not clearly explain where or how the people of Gaza would be moved. Although the Israeli prime minister has referred to similar plans in the past, this is a pointed shift to fully talking about ethnic cleansing in full view. Netanyahu also said that Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) would not just go into Gaza, carry out attacks, and then leave. 'The intention is the opposite of that,' he stated, suggesting that Israeli forces may stay in parts of Gaza after entering. This announcement comes as Israeli political and IOF leaders agreed on plans to expand their genocidal assaults on Gaza. These plans reportedly include taking full control of Gaza, managing aid deliveries, and occupying the entire territory. Some Israeli officials, speaking to news agencies, said the plan could involve the 'conquest' of all of Gaza and moving the entire population to the south. A source told AFP that Netanyahu continues to support an idea promoted by US President Donald Trump, which involves forcibly removing Palestinians from the enclave. In February, Trump proposed to 'clean out' Gaza and suggested that neighbouring countries like Jordan and Egypt would take in displaced Palestinians. The new Israeli plan also gives its forces full control over the aid entering Gaza – a power they have already abused – where people are already starving due to a long blockade. Since March 2, Israel has blocked all food, water, medicine, and fuel from entering. Human rights groups and the United Nations have warned that these actions could lead to famine and are against international humanitarian law. Israeli media reported that disagreements broke out during the cabinet meeting. Far-right minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said Israel should bomb food warehouses and cut off electricity to Gaza. But Israel's army chief, Eyal Zamir, said such actions would be dangerous and could bring more international criticism. 'You are endangering us all,' Zamir warned. The United Nations also criticized the plan, saying it would likely lead to more deaths and suffering. A UN spokesperson said Gaza must remain part of any future Palestinian state and that aid should not be used as a tool for pressure. Meanwhile, Hamas has repeatedly said it will only agree to a full ceasefire and the complete withdrawal of IOF from Gaza. The group rejected the Israeli plan, calling it 'political blackmail.' The international community also condemned Netanyahu's proposal, with China saying it is 'highly concerned about the current Palestine-Israel situation.' Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said that China 'opposes Israel's ongoing military actions in Gaza, and hopes all parties continuously and effectively implement the ceasefire agreement.' French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot described Israel's plans as'unacceptable' and a 'violation of humanitarian law'. Although Israel's occupation has been threatening similar actions for quite some time, and international analysts and political leaders have suspected that these were their intentions, this marks a pointed shift with high-level officials bringing the plan out in the open. Only time will tell whether this will finally be an impetus for international leaders to act before it is truly too late. Tags: GazaIsraelNetanyahuwar

France and China condemn Israel's Gaza 'conquest' plan
FRANCE AND CHINA have strongly condemned Israel's 'conquest' of Gaza, which they it said would involve moving most of the population out. 'It's unacceptable,' French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said in a radio interview, adding the Israeli government was 'in violation of humanitarian law.' Yesterday, Israel's military said expanded operations in Gaza would include increased displacement, after the country's security cabinet approved a plan that an Israeli official said will entail 'the conquest of the Gaza Strip and the holding of the territories'. Israel's decision comes as the United Nations and aid organisations have repeatedly warned of the humanitarian catastrophe on the ground, with famine again looming after more than two months of a total Israeli blockade. Nearly all of the Gaza Strip's 2.4 million people have been displaced at least once during the war. China also said it opposed Israel's latest military actions. Advertisement 'China is highly concerned about the current Palestine-Israel situation,' foreign ministry spokesman Lin Jian said. 'We oppose Israel's ongoing military actions in Gaza, and hopes all parties continuously and effectively implement the ceasefire agreement.' 'Despicable and unconscionable' The European Union has called for restraint from Israel, as did Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Harris, who described the plans as 'alarming'. 'Such a move would result in further deaths, casualties and untold suffering for the Palestinian population who already face a dire humanitarian situation,' Harris said in a statement this afternoon. He added: 'What is happening to the people of Gaza is despicable and unconscionable. This is a humanitarian catastrophe. 'We need to see an immediate cessation of hostilities, release of remaining hostages and the resumption of humanitarian aid at scale into Gaza.' On 18 March, Israel breached ceasefire orders between its military and militant group Hamas and resumed strikes on Gaza – killing more than 2,600 people in the weeks since, many of them women and children, according to local health officials. Israel's retaliatory offensive on Gaza – following Hamas' attack on the country in October 2023 – has killed at least 52,535 people in Gaza, the majority of them civilians, according to the health ministry.

Mahathir accuses Anwar of favouring China over US, says Malaysia must stay neutral
KUALA LUMPUR, May 3 — Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has reportedly criticised Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's foreign policy choices, claiming they would harm Malaysia's image as a non-aligned country. The former prime minister was quoted questioning whether Anwar grasped its complexities, and accused the latter of placing economic gains over principles by getting friendly with China. 'Malaysia is a neutral country. We want to be friendly with the world. We want to trade with all the countries. We must not side with anyone – neither America nor China,' he told South China Morning Post in an interview. 'But this government seems to be leaning towards China. At the same time, it is afraid to displease America.' Last month, China's President Xi Jinping visited Malaysia — his second official visit to Malaysia in 12 years. During the visit, Anwar said Malaysia views China not only a close friend and neighbour, but also as an important partner through the comprehensive strategic partnership that reflects the deep trust and long-standing cooperation between the nations. Dr Mahathir pointed to Malaysia's non-aligned foreign policy, rooted in Tun Abdul Razak's 1974 decision to establish diplomatic ties with China, which has historically aimed at maintaining balanced relations with global powers. Despite that, Dr Mahathir criticised Anwar's shift in tone by softening his criticisms against the US over Israel's atrocities in Palestine following the return of Donald Trump. According to Dr Mahathir, this signalled a fear-driven approach that undermined moral responsibility. 'The government is prepared to tolerate wrong things done by America because it is afraid of America. 'We are all afraid of America. But we have to take a stand on injustice,' he reportedly said. In 2023, Anwar had alleged that the US had exerted pressure on Malaysia, with its Department of State calling up the country's ambassador in Washington over the matter. His office also confirmed with the press that Putrajaya had received a démarche notice from the United States on the Palestine-Israel conflict on October 13, while the US Deputy Chief of Mission to Malaysia, Chargé d'Affaires Manu Bhalla, had called on a deputy secretary-general of Malaysia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The US State Department defined a démarche as a 'formal diplomatic representation of its official position, views, or wishes on a given subject' which seeks to 'persuade, inform, or gather information from a foreign government', or to 'protest or object to actions by a foreign government'.
