Sao Paulo Parliament dedicates session for Palestine, calls for end to cooperation with occupier

Sao Paulo – Saba The São Paulo State Legislative Assembly, in Brazil, commemorated Palestinian Land Day on Friday evening in an official session called by parliament member Monica Seixas. The session was attended by a large number of members of the Palestinian and Arab communities, along with a number of Brazilian activists, politicians, and academics in solidarity with the Palestinian cause. The session was attended by Mohammed Al-Qadri, President of the Latin Palestinian Forum in Brazil; Dr. Arlene Clemecha, Professor of Arab History in the Department of Oriental Studies at the University of São Paulo; journalist Bruno Altman, founder of the Opera Mundi website; Teresina Pinto, Palestine Coordinator for the Brazilian Workers' Party; Thuraya Musleh, Coordinator of the Strong Palestine Group in São Paulo; and Samir Oliveira, Executive Director of the Lauro Campus Marily Franco Foundation, affiliated with the Brazilian Socialism and Liberty Party. The session also featured a special participation by Palestinian Legislative Council Member Mustafa Barghouti, who made a recorded intervention. The Palestinian national anthem was also played, amidst an atmosphere of solidarity and affirmation of the justness of the Palestinian cause and the right of the Palestinian people to resist the occupation and reclaim their land. It is worth noting that Palestinians commemorate "Palestinian Land Day" on March 30 of each year. This day dates back to 1976, when widespread protests erupted in the villages and towns of the Galilee, the Triangle, and the Negev within the territories occupied in 1948, in response to the Israeli occupation authorities' decision to confiscate thousands of dunams of Palestinian land. These protests were met with repression and gunfire by Israeli occupation forces, resulting in the martyrdom of six Palestinians and the injury and arrest of hundreds. Since then, this day has become a prominent annual milestone in the Palestinian national struggle, affirming the Palestinians' right to their land and national identity. The Arab Parliament calls on the international community to confront the plan to displace the Palestinian people

Cairo – INA The Speaker of the Arab Parliament, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al-Yamahi, called on the international community on Saturday to confront the plan to displace the Palestinian people. In a statement followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), Al-Yamahi said, "On the 49th anniversary of Palestinian Land Day, the Arab Parliament affirms its unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and their just struggle to regain their land and achieve all their legitimate, inalienable, and inalienable rights, guaranteed by international law and legitimacy." He noted that "the Palestinian struggle represents a model of steadfastness and willpower based on truth and justice." He reiterated the Arab Parliament's "solidarity with the Palestinian people in their defense of their land, history, holy sites, and national identity, and the need to work to achieve peace in accordance with UN resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative, which is based on the vision of a two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital." Al-Yamahi pointed out that "commemorating Palestinian Land Day this year comes at a time when the Palestinian people are being subjected to a war of genocide and ethnic cleansing, which has claimed the lives of thousands of innocent civilians, most of them children and women, and left thousands missing under the rubble. There are also fierce attempts to displace them and empty the Gaza Strip of its residents. What is happening in the West Bank and Jerusalem, similar to what is happening in the Gaza Strip, is also happening in the Gaza Strip, and there is a dangerous and unprecedented escalation of attacks by settler militias against the Palestinian people." Al-Yamahi expressed the Arab Parliament's "categorical rejection of any plans aimed at displacing the Palestinian people in all their forms and manifestations, as well as annexation plans, adhering to international law and international resolutions that support the right of Palestinians to return to their homes and live with dignity on their land." He emphasized the Arab Parliament's "support for the Arab positions and the Egyptian plan to rebuild the Gaza Strip, and the importance of implementing a comprehensive reconstruction process in the Gaza Strip as soon as possible, in a manner that ensures the Palestinians remain on their land."
