Kiran Powar to coach West Zone in Duleep Trophy
Kiran Powar (Image credit: X) NEW DELHI: Former Mumbai batter Kiran Powar has been appointed head coach of the West Zone squad for the upcoming Duleep Trophy, starting August 28 in Bengaluru. The tournament will once again follow the zonal format this season and will be played at the BCCI Centre of Excellence grounds in Bengaluru. The opening clash will see North Zone face East Zone. Former Gujarat wicketkeeper-batter Pallav Vora will serve as the assistant coach. According to the Mumbai Cricket Association, the support staff will include Dr. Jaydev Pandya as physiotherapist, Mahesh Patil as strength and conditioning coach, Pradipsinh Champavat as team analyst, and Aakash Chaudhary as masseur. Datta Mithbavkar will take charge as team manager. As per the format, West Zone and South Zone — the finalists in the last zonal edition (2022-23) — will start their campaign directly in the semifinals, while the remaining four teams will begin from the quarterfinal stage. Last Updated: Mumbai, Aug 13 (PTI) Former Mumbai batter Kiran Powar was on Wednesday named the head coach of the West Zone squad for the Duleep Trophy, which begins on August 28 in Bengaluru. The tournament, which will be played in the zonal format once again this season, will be held at the BCCI Centre of Excellence grounds in Bengaluru with North Zone taking on East Zone in the first match. Former Gujarat wicketkeeper-batter Pallav Vora has been named the assistant coach. The other appointments, conveyed by Mumbai Cricket Association, are of Dr Jaydev Pandya as physiotherapist, Mahesh Patil as strength and conditioning coach, Pradipsinh Champavat as the team's analyst and Aakash Chaudhary as its masseur.
