Italian mum pleads for information on missing son after possible Co Kerry sighting
It's thought that Riccardo may have been sighted in Dingle in recent weeks
An Italian mother is searching for the whereabouts of her son, Riccardo Branchini, who disappeared from his home in Italy on 13 October, 2024.
Riccardo's mother Federica Pambianchi contacted The Kerryman after reports her son may have been seen in Dingle and west Kerry in recent weeks. She is appealing to the public to report sightings of her son.
'I haven't heard from him since,' she said.
'He loves Ireland very much, having been there on vacation two months before his disappearance. I've received reports from Dingle, but unfortunately no photos,' she added.
Ms Pambianchi explained that the case is being handled by the Urbino Prosecutor's Office in Italy, and the prosecutor's office has seized Riccardo's real documents.
His mother added that it's assumed her son may have false documents in his possession. Despite extensive searches over a long period, his body has not been found. It's thought that Riccardo may have went missing after a major flood struck the province of Pesaro and Urbino last autumn.
Ms Pambianchi said that by examining his computer and cell phone, the police discovered he was searching all over Europe, particularly in Ireland, where Riccardo visited on a holiday last summer.
'I'm trying to find if he's in your vicinity. As his mother, and I'm devastated by the pain that is truly killing me day after day,' said Ms Branchini.
'If so, I don't want to take him home if he doesn't want to. But I just want to be sure he's okay, even if it's just a photo, or at least to be able to talk to him. If anyone saw him, or if he was there, please let me know,' she said.
