Minister Seethakka sets monthly targets for Panchayati Raj Dept

Hyderabad, June 17 (UNI) Telangana Minister for Panchayati Raj and Rural Development, Dr Dhanasari Anasuya Seethakka, on Tuesday directed officials of the department to set monthly targets and work systematically towards their achievement to ensure the timely implementation of development and welfare activities. Chairing a high-level review meeting here, the Minister reviewed the progress of ongoing schemes such as Mission Bhagiratha, Indira Mahila Shakti, Stree Nidhi, and the newly introduced HUM Policy for rural road construction. She also addressed pending employee issues and praised the efforts of departmental staff in delivering grassroots services, an official statement said. Minister Seethakka congratulated N Sridhar on taking charge as the Principal Secretary of the Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Department, expressing confidence that under his leadership, the department would scale new heights. She recalled Sridhar's contributions as the former Warangal Collector and CMD of Singareni Collieries, particularly in her own constituency, and said his appointment would strengthen interdepartmental coordination and help secure more funding for rural initiatives. She emphasised that the department, which represents over 2.5 crore people, should function like a family—from the minister to the multipurpose worker—working together with a shared vision of village development. Highlighting the importance of rural road infrastructure, the Minister stated that 18,472 kilometres of roads would be modernised under the HUM Policy, with 7,947 kilometres to be developed in the first phase. She added that Rs 1,800 crore worth of works had already been sanctioned and instructed officials to prepare an action plan to invite tenders within the next 15 days. The guidelines for the HUM project would be released shortly, and teams had been dispatched to Maharashtra and Karnataka to study best practices for effective implementation. Seethakka noted that rural roads, once neglected, would now surpass even urban roads in quality through this policy. She also announced that this year, 1,440 Gram Panchayat buildings and 1,440 Anganwadi centres would be constructed across the state—two for each mandal. These projects are expected to be taken up under a state-wide "Work Fair," which aims to generate employment while creating durable community assets. The Minister said that the government had resolved many staff-related issues since coming to power, including the regular payment of salaries to 93,000 village-level employees through the green channel. She further informed that the file regarding MPDO transfers was with the Chief Minister, and the vehicle allowance file had reached the Finance Department, with approvals expected soon. Principal Secretary N Sridhar, addressing the meeting, said that the Panchayati Raj Department plays a vital role in empowering rural communities and women through schemes like Indira Mahila Shakti. He said the department delivers essential services from the village to the district level and pledged to hold focused review meetings with each section to enhance overall performance. Sridhar urged everyone to work in unison to bring a good name to the government under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Minister Seethakka. He assured full commitment to building a transparent, efficient, and people-centred department. UNI VV SS

Seethakka Directs Completion of Indira Mahila Shakti Bhavans by November; Emphasizes Women Empowerment and School Readiness

Gadwal: Telangana State Minister for Panchayati Raj and Rural Development, Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka), has directed that the ongoing construction of the newly proposed Indira Mahila Shakti Bhavans in various districts must be completed by November this year. On Monday, Minister Seethakka, along with C.S. Ramakrishna Rao, held a video conference with district collectors from Hyderabad to review the progress of the Badi Bata (School Enrollment Drive) and Indira Mahila Shakti programs. During the review, Minister Seethakka stated that although foundation stones for the Indira Mahila Shakti Bhavans were laid by the Hon'ble Chief Minister in November last year, the progress in many districts has not met expectations. She instructed Panchayati Raj department engineers to coordinate effectively and ensure the timely completion of construction within the stipulated deadline. The Minister also expressed her appreciation to all those who contributed to the rapid completion of school uniform stitching for children studying in government schools through the efforts of women's self-help groups. She emphasized that, as part of the school reopening celebrations on June 12, school uniforms and textbooks should be distributed to students in a festive atmosphere. Seethakka also instructed officials to prioritize sanitation and cleanliness around schools as part of the reopening. She directed that wild shrubs be fully cleared, and rainwater stagnation be avoided around school premises to maintain hygiene. Highlighting the government's broader vision under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the Minister stated that numerous initiatives are being taken up to empower one crore women and help them become financially self-reliant. As part of this initiative, petrol pumps are being established through women's groups. She noted that suitable sites must be identified for setting up these fuel stations, and each station has the potential to benefit at least 10 families. The Minister further revealed that steps are being taken to establish rice mills, solar power generation plants, and to operate rental buses for RTC through women's groups. She stressed the importance of forming new women's groups, particularly in rural and tribal areas, and raising awareness about the benefits of these groups, especially in poverty-stricken regions. Minister Seethakka instructed collectors to expedite efforts to set up solar power generation units through women's groups, reiterating the government's commitment to sustainable development and women empowerment. District Collector's Report Jogulamba Gadwal District Collector B.M. Santhosh, during the video conference, reported that out of the required 52,000 school uniforms for students, 42,000 have already been stitched and are ready for distribution. The remaining 10,000 uniforms will be completed within two days, ensuring their availability along with textbooks on June 12. Regarding the Indira Mahila Shakti Bhavan construction, the Collector informed that the work has progressed up to the basement level and will be fully completed by the end of November. In addition, two separate sites have been identified for setting up petrol pumps to be managed by women's self-help groups. A suitable location will be finalized shortly, and construction will begin thereafter. As part of the Badi Bata campaign, the Collector stated that door-to-door awareness is being created to promote enrollment in government schools. Information is being disseminated about facilities offered, including foundational education using AI tools, digital classrooms, and visible improvements in school infrastructure. These efforts aim to boost admissions and enhance public trust in the government school system. Participants in the Video Conference Additional District Collector Narsinga Rao, District Welfare Officer Sunanda, and other officials from various departments also participated in the conference.

Pawan declares MGNREGS workers as shramiks

Mangalagiri: Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Pawan Kalyan on Thursday extended International Workers' Day greetings to every worker contributing to the nation's development. On the occasion, he announced that MGNREGS workers would henceforth be referred to as 'MGNREGS Shramiks' instead of 'coolies.' He held a cordial meeting with MGNREGS workers in Mangalagiri and interacted with workers from various districts to understand their issues. Pawan Kalyan said, 'villages are the pillars of national development. I have a deep affection for rural areas and constantly aspire for their well-being. Understanding the value of labor, I recognise the worth of MGNREGS workers. Without those who toil, there would be no infrastructure, green cover, or progress in our country. Therefore, we must honor workers as builders of the nation. On this Workers' Day, we recognise you not as coolies but as Shramiks who sweat for nation-building. From today, we will address you as MGNREGS Shramiks.' During a visit to Mogalturu, Commissioner of Panchayati Raj and Rural Development, Krishna Teja noticed that MGNREGS workers lacked coverage under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana. One crore MGNREGS workers were enrolled in a single day under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Yojana and Jeevan Jyoti Yojana. This ensures Rs. 2 lakh in compensation for families of workers who lose their lives in accidents. Measures were taken to ensure workers receive the government-mandated wage of Rs. 307 per day. Pawan stressed that rainwater must not be wasted. Rainwater harvesting systems should be set up for every household and community building. The programme was attended by Principal Secretary of Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Shashi Bhushan Kumar, Commissioner Krishna Teja, NREGS Director Shanmukh, and other senior officials.
