Seethakka Directs Completion of Indira Mahila Shakti Bhavans by November; Emphasizes Women Empowerment and School Readiness
On Monday, Minister Seethakka, along with C.S. Ramakrishna Rao, held a video conference with district collectors from Hyderabad to review the progress of the Badi Bata (School Enrollment Drive) and Indira Mahila Shakti programs.
During the review, Minister Seethakka stated that although foundation stones for the Indira Mahila Shakti Bhavans were laid by the Hon'ble Chief Minister in November last year, the progress in many districts has not met expectations. She instructed Panchayati Raj department engineers to coordinate effectively and ensure the timely completion of construction within the stipulated deadline.
The Minister also expressed her appreciation to all those who contributed to the rapid completion of school uniform stitching for children studying in government schools through the efforts of women's self-help groups. She emphasized that, as part of the school reopening celebrations on June 12, school uniforms and textbooks should be distributed to students in a festive atmosphere.
Seethakka also instructed officials to prioritize sanitation and cleanliness around schools as part of the reopening. She directed that wild shrubs be fully cleared, and rainwater stagnation be avoided around school premises to maintain hygiene.
Highlighting the government's broader vision under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the Minister stated that numerous initiatives are being taken up to empower one crore women and help them become financially self-reliant. As part of this initiative, petrol pumps are being established through women's groups. She noted that suitable sites must be identified for setting up these fuel stations, and each station has the potential to benefit at least 10 families.
The Minister further revealed that steps are being taken to establish rice mills, solar power generation plants, and to operate rental buses for RTC through women's groups. She stressed the importance of forming new women's groups, particularly in rural and tribal areas, and raising awareness about the benefits of these groups, especially in poverty-stricken regions.
Minister Seethakka instructed collectors to expedite efforts to set up solar power generation units through women's groups, reiterating the government's commitment to sustainable development and women empowerment.
District Collector's Report
Jogulamba Gadwal District Collector B.M. Santhosh, during the video conference, reported that out of the required 52,000 school uniforms for students, 42,000 have already been stitched and are ready for distribution. The remaining 10,000 uniforms will be completed within two days, ensuring their availability along with textbooks on June 12.
Regarding the Indira Mahila Shakti Bhavan construction, the Collector informed that the work has progressed up to the basement level and will be fully completed by the end of November.
In addition, two separate sites have been identified for setting up petrol pumps to be managed by women's self-help groups. A suitable location will be finalized shortly, and construction will begin thereafter.
As part of the Badi Bata campaign, the Collector stated that door-to-door awareness is being created to promote enrollment in government schools. Information is being disseminated about facilities offered, including foundational education using AI tools, digital classrooms, and visible improvements in school infrastructure. These efforts aim to boost admissions and enhance public trust in the government school system.

Telangana Government Prioritizes Women's Empowerment Through Welfare Schemes in Maldakal
Gadwal: The Telangana State Government is implementing numerous welfare schemes aimed at the empowerment and development of women, and every woman must take advantage of these opportunities for her growth, said District Collector B.M. Santosh. On Tuesday, the Collector, along with Gadwal MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy, participated in the 'Indira Mahila Shakti' and ration card distribution program organized by the District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) at the Maldakal Mandal headquarters. Addressing the gathering, Collector Santosh stated that the state government is prioritizing women's economic empowerment through various schemes. He highlighted that over 600 women's self-help groups (SHGs) are actively functioning in Maldakal Mandal, with more than 8,000 women as members. He encouraged more women to join these groups to benefit from interest-free loans, livelihood opportunities, rice procurement centers, and uniform stitching units. The Collector noted that last year, SHGs in the mandal received loans totaling ₹26 crores, and this year, ₹72 lakhs in interest was waived. An additional ₹4.36 lakhs were sanctioned for uniform stitching initiatives. To further enhance livelihood opportunities for rural women, the government released an Enterprise Grounding Amount of ₹15.80 crores. He also announced plans to establish a petrol pump and a 1-megawatt solar power plant in the mandal with an investment of ₹3 crores, creating more income-generating avenues for women. The ration card distribution program saw over 900 new cards issued in Maldakal. The Collector assured that every application is being reviewed at the field level and that the concerned departments are working diligently to resolve issues. He urged beneficiaries to use their free ration responsibly and warned against diverting it to the black market. He added that schemes like Indiramma Housing, Rythu Bharosa, free bus travel for women, and solar power projects are being made accessible to all. He encouraged women to make full use of these programs for their progress. Gadwal MLA Bandla Krishna Mohan Reddy emphasized that the government is giving special priority to women's welfare by implementing a wide range of schemes. Through the Maha Lakshmi Scheme, women now benefit from free bus travel, increased Aarogyasri coverage up to ₹10 lakhs, subsidized LPG cylinders at ₹500, and 200 units of free electricity. He added that Indiramma houses are now being sanctioned in the names of women, and SHGs are being empowered to manage solar power plants, rental buses, petrol pumps, rice mills, and tailoring units. With a vision of turning one crore women into millionaires, the government is providing interest-free loans and multiple income avenues, he said. The MLA assured that every eligible person would receive a ration card and every poor family a house. He also reaffirmed the government's commitment to ongoing infrastructure improvements in Maldakal, including irrigation canals, drinking water facilities, roads, healthcare, and education. The event was attended by Additional Collectors Lakshmi Narayana and Narsinga Rao, local officials, women SHG members, community representatives, and residents.

Teacher turns math into play, boosting school attendance, enrollment
HYDERABAD/ MEDAK : Mathematics often sends students running in the opposite direction, but one government school teacher is trying to change that. Ravi Raj, a mathematics teacher at Mandal Parishad Upper Primary School (MPUPS) in Admapur, Narsapur mandal, uses his YouTube channel 'Raviraj Master' to make maths fun and approachable for children who struggle with the subject. Ravi started his channel during the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, posting videos to help students understand basic maths concepts at a time when classes shifted online. But it was in 2024, after he joined MPUPS Admapur, that he realised the scale of the problem. He realised that many students were unable to grasp basic concepts or solve simple problems. This, he noticed, was linked to poor attendance. Determined to find a solution, he introduced board games and puzzles into his lessons, blending learning with play. The approach worked — attendance, Ravi Raj says, rose from 45% to 95%. What began as a handful of videos soon grew into a large online resource. Today, his channel hosts over 1,600 videos and has about 1.5 million subscribers. 'The videos are not monetised. I see this as social service, not a source of income,' he says. His lessons have drawn praise from students across India and abroad, many of whom leave comments about how the content helps them. The impact shows at his school too. During this year's Badi Bata, this MPUPS saw enrolment climb from 53 students last year to 73 — and numbers may reach 100 in the coming weeks. Outside the classroom, the 43-year-old works with voluntary organisations to improve facilities. New benches, a lab, notebooks, ties and belts have been provided, with the teacher often spending from his own pocket. His efforts have drawn attention. Recently, Education Secretary Yogita Rana invited him to help develop MPUPS Admapur as a model school with state government support.

Hyderabad Collector urges more enrolment in government schools
Hyderabad District Collector Anudeep Durishetty on Thursday urged parents to ensure 100% classroom attendance for their children and encouraged students to pursue academic excellence with determination. Speaking to the students at Syed Murtuza Hussaini Memorial Government Upper Primary School at Langar Houz in Golconda, the Collector said the Telangana government has been prioritising public education by investing crores of rupees to improve infrastructure and learning outcomes in government schools. The Collector also distributed uniforms and books to the students. 'Education is the real jewel. No matter how much wealth one has, without education, it is meaningless,' he said, addressing students and parents. He pointed out that each student of a government school in the State benefits from government expenditure of over ₹1 lakh annually, covering uniforms, teacher salaries, midday meals, textbooks, notebooks, and workbooks. He also appealed to parents to spread awareness about the facilities available at government schools and motivate them to enrol their children. 'We want to see an increase in new admissions under the Badi Bata (Back to School) campaign,' he said.
