KPWKM's 2025 Kembara Kasih Roadshow reaches over 10,000 Sabahans across six districts

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Dr Joachim Gunsalam (fourth right) performs the gimmick for the Kembara Kasih closing ceremony in Tawau last Saturday TAWAU (May 28): The Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development's (KPWKM) 2025 Kembara Kasih roadshow wrapped up in Tawau on May 24 after covering nearly 400 kilometres and making stops across six districts in Sabah. The outreach programme, which began in Tuaran on May 16, successfully reached and benefitted over 10,000 residents. Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the initiative brought together 34 programmes and services that were delivered at various roadshow stops, offering direct assistance to communities in need. 'Kembara Kasih also included visits to 14 clients under the Social Welfare Department (JKM) and several families identified by the National Population and Family Development Board (LPPKN) along the route,' she said. 'We hope these visits help ease their burdens, offer encouragement, and inspire them to move forward and rebuild their lives.' Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor, accompanied by Nancy (third left), flags off the KPWKM 2025 Kembara Kasih Convoy at Astaka Padang Tuaran on May 17. The roadshow was divided into two zones: Zone 1 covered Tuaran, Papar and Penampang from May 16 to 18; while Zone 2 involved Lahad Datu, Kunak, and Tawau from May 22 to 24. Nancy highlighted that Kembara Kasih 2025 focused on five core pillars, namely empowering family institutions; advancing women's professionalism; enhancing community capacity and potential; strengthening community well-being; and promoting growth in the care sector. As part of family empowerment efforts, LPPKN organised several programmes, including a parenting character development forum in Penampang; a men's well-being programme at the Marine Police Force headquarters in Lahad Datu; and the Kasih Remaja@Kafeteen programme at SMK Sri Nangka in Tuaran. To support women's professional development, the Zero Tolerance for Violence programme organised by the Department of Women's Development (JPW) was held at the Papar Community Hall and drew more than 700 participants. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor (fourth right) and Nancy (third left) symbolically launch the KPWKM Kembara Kasih programme and the Mobile One-Stop Social Support Centre (PSSS) at Astaka Padang Tuaran on May 16. 'We are also collaborating with the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives to host sales events for women entrepreneurs, helping them expand their businesses and contribute to the local economy,' the minister added. Under the theme of enhancing community capacity, JKM conducted five initiatives, including the Intergenerational Mind Image programme and the launch of a new Senior Citizens Activity Centre (Pawe) in Benoni, Papar. Nancy said KPWKM remains committed to uplifting vulnerable communities through inclusive programmes that bridge urban-rural gaps and empower families and individuals at every level. Bung Moktar: No more divisions, time for Umno Sabah to reclaim strength

Bung Moktar KOTA KINABALU (May 11): As Umno marks its 79th anniversary, its Sabah chief Datuk Seri Panglima Bung Moktar Radin has issued a rallying call to party members across the state to rise, unite, and prepare for the upcoming 17th state election. In a strong message, Bung Moktar reminded Sabahans that Umno is not just a party of the past but a force that continues to shape Malaysia's and Sabah's future. 'Alhamdulillah, today all Umno members are celebrating the 79th anniversary of our beloved party — a party that has been the backbone of nation-building and the voice of the grassroots,' he said. He highlighted Umno's legacy in Sabah, including the establishment of Universiti Malaysia Sabah (UMS), the state's first local university, as well as the construction of schools, clinics, roads, mosques, and the creation of jobs and business opportunities. 'This is not rhetoric. It is a living history etched in the reality of the people of Sabah,' Bung Moktar stressed. He also thanked Umno President Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for his anniversary message, describing it as both a reflection on past contributions and a renewed call to action. 'The President's message is clear and timely, especially as we gear up for the next state election. He emphasized three crucial points that every Sabah Umno machinery must internalize,' Bung Moktar said. First, Umno must return to the people. 'We cannot rely on promises alone. We must go to the ground, listen to grievances, and offer real solutions. Today's politics demands leaders who are not just popular but grounded and tireless.' Second, the party must avoid repeating past mistakes. 'Our defeats were due not to our opponents' strength, but our own internal weaknesses. In Sabah, we must stay united. Differences in opinion must not lead to division. Our fight is with the opposition, not among ourselves.' Third, Umno must be a party of the future, not just one of memories. 'In this digital era and with a new generation rising, we must offer fresh ideas and faces. We need to educate, engage and empower young Sabahans as the next torchbearers of our struggle.' Bung Moktar called Umno Sabah members to action: 'I urge all leaders, machinery, and members of Umno throughout Sabah — Rise! Unite! Fight!' He concluded, 'We will make the 17th state election the stage for Umno Sabah's resurgence. We will not allow our party to be disrespected by those who never sowed the seeds but now wish to reap the harvest. We are a party with history — and we will prove we are also a party with a future.'
