Haryana model Sheetal's body recovered from Sonepat canal

The body of Sheetal Chaudhry, 23, a Panipat-based model associated with the Haryana music industry, was recovered from Reliance Canal at Khanda village in the Kharkhauda area of Sonepat on Monday, police said. Sonepat assistant commissioner of police (ACP), headquarters, Ajit Singh said that the body of Sheetal, also known as Simmy Chaudhry, was recovered from the canal, 60km from Panipat, with its throat slit. 'We received information about the body of a woman in a canal and reached the spot. Investigation is underway,' he said. The body was recovered a day after Sheetal's sister, Neha, lodged a missing complaint at a police station in Panipat. In her complaint, Neha said Sheetal had left home for a music album shoot at Ahar village in Panipat on June 14 but never returned. Neha alleged that Sheetal's friend, identified as Sunil, also from Panipat, had reached the shooting venue and beaten her up. 'Sunil had been mounting pressure on Sheetal to marry him, but she knew he was already married and a father of two children. She told me over video call that Sunil had assaulted her,' Neha said, adding thereafter her phone got disconnected and she was unreachable. Before modelling and acting in Haryanvi music videos, Sheetal worked at Sunil's hotel in Karnal till six months ago. 'Even after she left the job at the hotel, he continued to chase her,' Neha stated in the complaint. Citing foul play, Neha said: 'On Sunday, Sunil's car slipped into a canal in Delhi and he was rescued by passers-by. My sister was not in the car. We suspect Sunil killed her and is concocting a false story. He is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Panipat at present.' Meanwhile, Sheetal's body was sent for post-mortem to the local civil hospital. The incident comes less than a week after police found the decomposed body of a Ludhiana-based digital content creator Kanchan Kumari, 30, popularly known as 'Kamal Kaur Bhabhi', inside a car at the parking lot of Adesh Medical College and Hospital in Bhucho town in Punjab. Two Nihangs, Jaspreet Singh and Nimratjit Singh, were arrested, while the key accused, Amritpal Singh Mehron, is absconding. 'Mehron had previously cautioned her to stop posting 'vulgar' videos and had planned to teach her a lesson. He, along with the others, hatched a conspiracy and they strangled her to death at an isolated location on June 10,' said Bathinda SSP Amneet Kondal.

Shamli heist: Gang posing as GST officials loots Rs 32 lakh; uses govt stickers on cars to avoid suspicion

By: Sachin Sharma SHAMLI: Police have arrested five men who allegedly posed as GST officials and looted Rs 32 lakh from the accountant of a Panipat-based thread trader in Shamli on June 3. The accused used vehicles with Government of India stickers to appear legitimate and avoid suspicion. The gang was busted after police reviewed footage from over 500 CCTV cameras across Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. SP Ram Sevak Gautam said four dedicated police teams were formed to investigate the robbery . 'Three suspects — Amarjeet Singh, Gulshan Meena, and Ravi Kumar, all residents of Ghaziabad — were the first to be nabbed. They had arranged two vehicles with official stickers to carry out the operation,' he said. The victim, Anil Narwal, was transporting cash from Meerut on behalf of trader Lalit Jain when the accused intercepted him in Shamli. The robbery was reportedly carried out based on a tip-off from an absconding gang member who had insider knowledge of the cash movement. An FIR was registered at Shamli Kotwali under Section 309(4) (robbery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Later, during a police encounter on Sunday night, two more suspects — Mohit Kumar and Shubham, alias Gaurav, both from Baghpat — were injured and arrested. Police recovered Rs 10 lakh in cash, one vehicle used in the crime, a fake number plate, a firearm, and the victim's Aadhaar card. So far, Rs 10 lakh of the stolen amount has been recovered. Police have identified four more suspects who are absconding. 'The gang meticulously planned the robbery using fake identities and government-stickered vehicles to avoid suspicion. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining accused and recover the rest of the stolen money,' SP Gautam said.

4 men posing as GST officials loot Rs 32L from Panipat firm staff

Shamli: Four men posing as GST officials looted Rs 32 lakh in cash, a smartphone, and ATM cards from employees of a Panipat-based thread company near the Simbhalkha bypass on Shamli Highway Ring Road late Tuesday evening. The robbers arrived in two vehicles, one bearing a "Govt of India" insignia, to lend credibility to their act. The incident occurred when Anil Narwal, a field cashier from Sonepat, and Satnam Singh, a driver from Panipat — both employees of Shankar Sapantex Madana — were returning from Meerut's Gola Kuan area after collecting payments. According to the victims, four men got out of the vehicles, claimed they were from the GST department, and said they were conducting a routine check. They then forcefully took a black bag containing the cash, phone, and ATM cards. To appear legitimate, the impostors told the victims they were taking the seized items to a police station for verification — likely to avoid immediate suspicion. Narwal later alerted the police, clarifying that the cash and other belongings were company property being legally transported back to Panipat. Shamli SP Ram Sewak Gautam said a case was registered under Section 309(4) (robbery) of the BNS. "Police teams are working to identify and apprehend the suspects. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined," he added.

Espionage case: Naumen Elahi sent to judicial custody

1 2 Chandigarh: Investigations revealed that Naumen Elahi, a native of Kairana from Uttar Pradesh, was in touch with Indian-origin Pakistan-based ISI operative Iqbal Kana and used to share secret information with him during Operation Sindoor . Naumen was the first to be arrested by Haryana police from Panipat on May 13, and he was lodged in the custody of the CIA staff and special cell of Panipat. On Saturday, he was produced before the duty magistrate, who remanded him to judicial custody. In his mid-20s, Naumen worked as a security guard in a private factory in Panipat. He travelled to Pakistan in 2017. Since then, he was under the lens of central intelligence agencies. Referring to the investigation and interrogations, sources in the police revealed that Naumen was one of the recruits of Iqbal Kana, who also had roots in Kairana, a bordering district of Pakistan. Kana escaped from India to Pakistan nearly three decades ago after his name cropped up in the supply of weapons to antisocial and anti-national elements in a case that was being probed by the special cell of Delhi police. Delhi Police recovered over 290 firearms from their group. Police said Naumen admitted to being in touch with Iqbal Kana and shared vital information related to vital installations and the position of various agencies. Agencies claimed to have recovered six passports from his possession in Kairana. Besides this, police also seized incriminating documents confirming his links with handlers across the border. Three of the seized passports were his own, his mother's, and his sister's, and the remaining three were of a Panipat-based family. "As police and central agencies have completed the questioning and recoveries have been made, he was no longer required for interrogation. So, the investigating officer opted for his judicial custody," an official privy to the development said. Notably, now only two accused, including a woman YouTuber, are in the custody of Haryana police. Since May 13, Haryana police arrested five persons, including YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, on charges of spying and espionage during Operation Sindoor. Besides Jyoti, Tareef of Nuh is the second accused who is in police custody in Mewat. Tareef will be produced in court on Sunday as his period of police custody ends on the day.
