Almost all of us have played the fun game of stone-paper-scissors with our friends at school or in our free time. The fun pastime surely made our boring moments more enjoyable. But have you ever thought of playing this game amid the usual hustle and bustle of airport procedures or on the flights? Hardly anyone would have thought of doing so, but a recent video doing the rounds on the internet showed this delightful moment between a flight passenger and an airport ground crew member. The clip shared on Instagram showed the passenger inside an American Airlines plane engaging in a game of rock, paper, scissors from the flight window while the staff member was at a distance on the ground just before take-off. The amazing coordination between the two and the bright smile on their faces makes the video all the more fun. Sharing the video, the woman captioned, 'Thank you to the man who played rock, paper, scissors with my wife. You made her flight and day. Instagram algorithm, work your magic and help me find this man." The cheerful exchange has since gone viral, spreading smiles across the internet. Social media users are in love with the video, as the reactions on the post suggest. They couldn't hold back but chime into the comments section to share their amusement. Till now, the short clip has raked in over 1 million views, and it is still counting for more. One of the users wrote, 'How cute and cool…a special moment." 'This is so cute! Thank you for capturing this special moment. Love a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors," said another. An individual identified the staffer as Tommy, a ground crew chief working at Dallas-Fort Worth Airport and said, 'That's my friend Tommy who works in DFW. He is the best crew chief and dad. I have known him since about 1990-1991." 'Ground staff are the best people honestly," an account remarked. Another user said, 'Humans are so cute sometimes." 'Aww, how lovely. What a true gentleman. Flying is scary as it is, and the smile on this lady's beautiful face," read a comment. This isn't the first time a flight passenger was captured indulging in a fun game of Stone-Paper-Scissors with the ground crew. Earlier, a video surfaced on Instagram showed the passenger initiating the game from his flight window while the ground staff played from a distance. Meet G. Madhavi Latha, woman who played important role in construction of Chenab bridge, not IIT, NIT, once wanted to become...

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated the world's highest railway bridge over the Chenab river, which was completed at a cost of Rs 1,486 crore in more than eight years. This bridge is a remarkable feat in the fields of engineering and technology. However, many of you do not know that the key contributor behind this monumental project is a woman. Yes, you heard it right! She is a professor from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, who dedicated 17 years to its development as a geotechnical consultant. Her name is Professor G Madhavi Latha. Northern Railways also brought in rock engineering expert Dr. G. Madhavi Latha, who played a crucial role in planning, designing, and constructing the bridge structure, addressing the challenges caused by the terrain and slopes in collaboration with the contractor company, Afcons. Currently, she works as an HAG professor at IISc. Speaking about her educational qualification, Madhavi earned a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Kakinada in 1992. According to the media reports, she secured first class with distinction. Dr. G. Madhavi Latha earned a gold medal during her studies at the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal, where she specialized in Geotechnical Engineering. She went on to complete her Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering from IIT Madras in the year 2000, further cementing her academic excellence in the field. 'Madhavi's research interests center around the fundamental aspects of soil reinforcement and understanding the shear mechanisms at a micro level. Her recent work on this subject area is to use image-based techniques to understand the micro-topographical surface changes in geosynthetics sheared by sands and relating them to the macro level strength improvement,' reads the official website of the IISc. 'Other topics explored in this area include seismic response of geosynthetic reinforced retaining walls and slopes through shaking table studies. Madhavi also maintains an active interest in rock engineering, including numerical modelling of jointed rock masses and stability analysis of rock slopes and tunnels,' it further reads. Before joining IISc, Madhavi was an Assistant Professor at IIT Guwahati for a year (2003-2004). She even worked as a postdoctoral researcher at IISc from 2002-2003. Over the years, Dr. G. Madhavi Latha has been the recipient of numerous prestigious accolades recognizing her contributions to geotechnical engineering and education. In 2007, she was honoured with the 'Teacher Extraordinaire' award by the Builders Association of India, Mysore Centre. The same year, she received the Best Paper Award at the First Indian Young Geotechnical Engineers Conference (FIYGEC-2007) for her research paper titled 'Comparison of Different Failure Criteria for Modelling Jointed Rocks.' Earlier, in 2002, the Indian Geotechnical Society awarded her the Best Paper Award for her publication 'Finite Element Analysis of Strip Footing Supported on Geocell Reinforced Sand Beds' in the Indian Geotechnical Journal.

D2L Survey Suggests U.S. Employees are Optimistic about AI's Role in the Workplace

Workers recognized the value of AI but seek more guidance and training from employers TORONTO, May 27, 2025 /CNW/ – Global learning technology company, D2L, has gathered new survey data that will be released in its upcoming White Paper, Upskill with Purpose: Creating a Future-Ready Workforce. The findings suggest that the U.S. workers surveyed, see Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a positive force in their workplace and are optimistic about AI's potential to help increase efficiency and support their success. The survey, conducted by D2L and Morning Consult, also suggests that the respondents see AI as a value-add tool, rather than a replacement for their role, that helps them to focus their time on high-priority tasks that require skills like critical thinking, creativity, and strategy. The survey found that of the respondents: 69% generally agree AI will help them do their jobs better. Employees are optimistic about AI's ability to automate routine work— 65% are excited for AI to support repetitive tasks and 68% expect it to free up more time for strategic and creative work. Only 33% express fear that AI will eventually take their jobs and 38% believe AI will have little impact on their roles. 64% of workers say their company provides AI tools, yet only 25% strongly agree that their employer has a clear vision for how AI should be applied in their role. Only 39% of workers report using AI-powered tools to complete work or develop new skills in the last 1-3 years, despite 63% reporting their employer encourages AI usage and innovation. While 61% report access to formal training, more than half (58%) feel they've been left to learn AI on their own rather than in employer-led programs. 'Our survey suggests that workers are optimistic about the potential of AI, and there's an opportunity for more structured support from employers. With strategic investments in training and the right learning platform, workers can feel more empowered to integrate AI into their work,' said John Baker, President and CEO at D2L. 'Workers see the value in AI for helping complete repetitive and data-driven tasks, freeing up time to focus on human strengths like creativity, problem solving and communication. AI has the power to transform the way we work, and with a great learning system, AI can help elevate and scale the meaningful work we do.' D2L and Morning Consult conducted a survey of close to 1,000 full-time, salaried U.S. workers for its annual White Paper exploring the evolving landscape of corporate learning and skills development. This year's White Paper, Upskill with Purpose: Creating a Future-Ready Workforce, will be released in July 2025 and explore employee and employer priorities, preferences for non-traditional learning opportunities and demand for flexible training. The D2L Executive Summit, taking place July 21-22, 2025, in Savannah, Georgia, and will dive deeper into these findings with leading thinkers on the future of education and work. Leaders in corporate learning, higher education, and professional associations can register at Learn more about these survey results and how AI is transforming the workforce.
