Your guide to Binghamton Parade Day 2025
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – One of the largest and most festive events in Greater Binghamton is nearly here and several organizations are gearing up for the celebration.
Binghamton is known for several things including spiedies, carousels, and of course, the St. Patrick's Day parade. With Parade Day just under two weeks away, it's time to plan your itinerary for the March 1 event.
Hosted each year by the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Parade Day is in its 57th year. The rain or shine event takes place on the first Saturday of March in downtown Binghamton. Local officials, businesses, organizations, media, and community members participate in the parade, tossing out candy, trinkets, beads, and bubbles as they celebrate the City.
News 34 has created a guide to all of the Parade Day festivities. If you're looking to spend the day watching the parade, eating good food with great friends, or enjoying a drink or two, we've got you covered.
The parade will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the corner of Fayette and Court Street in downtown Binghamton. Parade-goers decked out in green will line the streets, so it is advised to arrive early. Several people, cars, and floats will join in on the tradition, including the team at News 34. Beloved bagpipe bands will be in attendance. Guests will be able to enjoy music from BC Celtic Pipes and Drum Band, Edward P. Maloney Memorial Pipe Band, Penn York Highlanders, and the Philidelphia Police and Fire Pipe Band.
Returning this year is the Avalon String Band. The band, also known as the Philadelphia Mummers, is composed of musicians, dancers, Marshalls, and motorcyclists. Dressed in brightly colored sequined costumes, they are famous around the Philly area for their talents, tricks, and electric performance. This is their first appearance in the Binghamton area since 2020.
Festivities will begin in the morning and will run throughout the evening.
Binghamton City Dems Parade Day Breakfast: Local Democrats will start the day off with a healthy meal during the annual Parade Day Breakfast. From 9 to 11 a.m., guests will be able to enjoy a pancake breakfast with eggs, meat, and fruit made by celebrity chefs. There will also be Irish dancers, live Irish music, and guest speakers. Tickets are $40 per person, $25 per student/young Democrat, and $15 per child. The event will take place at American Legion Post 80 in Binghamton.
Parade Day with Pat Kane: Lost Dog Cafe and Lounge is also celebrating with its annual Parade Day event. Beginning at 12 p.m., Lost Dog will serve Irish food all day long including corned beef and cabbage, shepherd's pie, fish and chips, Irish soda bread, desserts, and special cocktails. There will also be live Celtic music from Pat Kane in the Lounge.
Parade Day at Irish Kevin's: Irish Kevin's keeps the Irish tradition alive all year and Parade Day is no exception. Celtic rock band The Shambles will be performing starting at 2 p.m. There will be food and drink specials. Those looking to join the party later in the evening will be able to enjoy Alyssa Crosby and WildCard's annual Parade Day Palooza Party from 7 to 10 p.m. Bagpipers are expected to join as well.
McGirk's Parade Day Party: McGirk's is hosting a Parade Day party from noon to midnight. There will be live music from The Stoutmen at 1 and Kilrush at 7.
After the Parade at The Relief Pitcher: Join The Relief Pitcher during its Parade Day celebrations as it hosts a performance from Brothers and Friends. The event will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m.
Binghamton Firefighters Benevolent Post-Parade Party: A tradition returns! The Binghamton Professional Firefighters Association is once again hosting its Post-Parade Party from 3 to 7 p.m. Held at Celebrations on Park in Binghamton, the party will feature drinks and entertainment from 5th Gear Overdrive, Penn York Highlanders Pipe Band, and B.C. Celtic Pipe and Drums. Food will be available for purchase. Tickets are $20 at the door for those over the age of 21 and free for everyone 21 and younger.
Post Parade Party at Seton Catholic Central: The largest Parade Day after party is back and better than ever. Catholic Schools of Broome County is hosting its Annual Post Parade Party from 1 to 6 p.m. at Seton Catholic Central. Entertainment will be provided by the Replay Band, BC Celtic Pipe and Drums, and Edward P Maloney Pipe Band. There will also be a can't miss performance by the Avalon String Band. Red and White Catering will provide their famous Corned Beef Sandwiches and there will be several vendors as well. There will also be several activities for kids too. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for kids. Food and beverage tickets start at $5. To purchase in advance, click here. Tickets can be bought at the door as well.
The Binghamton St. Patrick's Day Parade isn't the only parade going on that weekend! To cap off Binghamton's early St. Patty's Day celebrations, Hillcrest will host its annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 2. The procession will begin at 1 p.m. at the Hillcrest American Legion. The parade will continue down Chenango Street and will conclude at My Uncle's Place with an after party. Last year, Town of Fenton Supervisor Gary Holcomb told News 34 that the event began in 2012 with one tractor and a couple of people marching.
