Chhattisgarh CM Sai flags off SBI cyber security awareness van in Raipur, launches statewide drive against online fraud

RAIPUR: Chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Saturday flagged off the SBI cyber security awareness van from his official residence in Raipur, formally launching a state-level campaign aimed at protecting citizens from online fraud and cybercrime. Speaking at the event, Sai underlined both the benefits and risks of rapid digitisation. 'Technology has made life easier and transactions faster, but cyber frauds have also increased. With a little vigilance, people can protect themselves from falling prey to such crimes,' he said. Chief minister said that the campaign will use audio-visual messages, street plays, and puppet shows to educate the public about evolving methods of cyber fraud. He revealed that 29 hotspots across Chhattisgarh have been identified where cyber fraud incidents are more frequent, and the awareness van will focus its outreach in these areas. Appealing to citizens, Sai urged them not to share confidential banking details, passwords, or OTPs with anyone and to avoid clicking on suspicious links. 'Cyber criminals keep inventing new ways to cheat people. A moment of carelessness can cost hard-earned savings. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Paras Sector 59 Gurgaon | Paras Floret Low-Rise Flats Paras The Florett Book Now Undo Our effort is to make more and more people alert and safe,' CM said. The campaign, organised by the State Bank of India (SBI), will run from August 15 to November 30, 2025. The van will travel across all 33 districts of Chhattisgarh, spreading awareness about online scams and prevention measures. SBI officials present at the launch said the initiative reflects the bank's responsibility as 'the banker to every Indian.' Citizens were also informed that complaints of online financial fraud can be lodged through the national helpline number 1930. The event was attended by SBI deputy general manager Rakesh Sinha, assistant general manager Deepak Kumar Sinha, and other senior officials. Bangladesh Cricket Board makes key appointments, introduces Mymensingh as new first-class team

Bangladesh Cricket Board (IANS Photo) The Bangladesh Cricket Board held a meeting in Dhaka on Saturday where they announced three key appointments. Alex Marshall, Julian Wood, and Tony Hemming have joined the board in different capacities. Julian Wood, who previously worked with Sri Lanka Cricket as a power-hitting specialist, has been appointed as a specialist batting coach for three months. Alex Marshall, former ICC anti-corruption unit general manager, will serve as a consultant for BCB's anti-corruption department for one year. The BCB has also engaged ICC's integrity unit to monitor anti-corruption during the Bangladesh Premier League. This development comes while investigations are ongoing regarding alleged corruption in the 2024-25 BPL and Dhaka Premier League seasons. Tony Hemming, who recently left his position as PCB's head curator, has returned to the BCB. He had earlier worked with the board from July 2023 to July 2024. His appointment has raised questions about Gamini Silva's role, the current curator at Shere Bangla National Stadium. "Tony Hemming has been appointed head of turf management for two years," Rahman said. "All our international venues and curators will be under him. He will also undertake the process of training Bangladeshi curators. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Paras Sector 59 Gurgaon | Paras Floret Low-Rise Flats Paras The Florett Book Now Undo All the board directors had a lot of interest in bringing him back." "Hemming is one of the best curators in the world. Maybe he had a good experience with the BCB in the previous occasion, that's why he agreed to come back. The turf management will run as Hemming will want. Time will tell if Gamini will stay or not. He has been given a 12-month extension." The BCB has also introduced Mymensingh as a new first-class team. They will replace Dhaka Metropolis, which was added in 2011 to maintain an even number of teams in the country's first-class competition. "Mymensingh is one of the country's newest divisions," Rahman said, as quoted from ANI. "They will play in the NCL first-class tournament from the coming season. They will replace Dhaka Metropolis. Mymensingh will play all divisional tournaments though we can't accommodate them in the upcoming NCL T20s as the schedule has been made. Mymensingh will play in the T20 tournament from the next edition." Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!

Cooperative taxi launch: ‘Bharat' service to rival Ola, Uber; app rollout by December

AI image India's cooperative sector is preparing to challenge ride-hailing giants Ola and Uber with the launch of a new taxi service under the brand 'Bharat' by the end of 2025, backed by a Rs 300 crore authorised capital. The initiative, fully funded by leading cooperatives, has already enrolled 200 drivers across four states, according to news agency PTI. The new venture, Multi-State Sahakari Taxi Cooperative Ltd, was registered on June 6 and brings together eight major cooperatives, including the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Ltd (IFFCO), and Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF). According to PTI, NCDC deputy managing director Rohit Gupta said, 'The key objective is to ensure better returns to drivers and provide quality, safe and affordable services to passengers.' The cooperative model will operate without any government stake. Founding members include Krishak Bharati Cooperative Ltd, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), and National Cooperative Exports Ltd (NCEL). by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Paras Sector 59 Gurgaon | Luxury Awaits at Paras Floret Paras The Florett Book Now Undo The platform has already onboarded 50 drivers each from Delhi, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Maharashtra. Expansion efforts are ongoing, with the cooperative reaching out to other cooperative bodies to widen its driver base. The ride-hailing service will function through a single app nationwide. A tender has been issued to finalise a technology partner for developing the app, which is expected to be ready by December. 'We will finalise the technology partner in a few days,' Gupta said, as quoted by PTI. To drive national-level marketing and strategic planning, the cooperative has engaged a technology consultant and the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. The Bharat taxi service will adopt a cooperative pricing model aimed at affordability for customers while improving driver incomes. Membership drives are underway to strengthen the platform's footprint across the country. Last month, cooperation minister Amit Shah had confirmed that a cooperative taxi service would be operational by the end of 2025, while unveiling a comprehensive cooperative policy for the sector. The initiative marks a bold step by India's cooperative movement to leverage its collective power in the highly competitive ride-hailing market, traditionally dominated by private players like Ola and Uber. Hospital put on 30-day notice over biomedical waste lapse

Vadodara: The Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) has directed a city hospital to improve its healthcare waste management within 30 days, after an incident in which biomedical waste from the hospital was found in the Gotri municipal garden. The hospital has been warned that it will face closure and power disconnection if it does not comply. The hospital waste was first spotted on July 21 by visitors to the garden. When the garden department officials found the waste, they informed the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) solid waste department, according to a VMC release. Solid waste officials rushed to the site, confirming the waste originated from Sterling Hospital at Racecourse and included biomedical waste. Hospital representatives also arrived at the garden after the discovery. The waste was placed in a VMC tractor used for garden waste collection. When the tractor entered the garden, it left behind the medical waste bags. Papers bearing the hospital's name were also found with the waste. BJP and Congress leaders visited the site as the matter drew public attention. The medical waste was later handed over to a certified biomedical waste disposal agency, VMC said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Paras Sector 59 Gurgaon | Luxury Awaits at Paras Floret Paras The Florett Book Now Undo According to the release, the improper disposal violated the Biomedical Waste Rules, 2016, which is also an offence under the Environment Protection Act, 1986. GPCB has ordered the hospital to improve its healthcare waste systems within 30 days or face strict action, including power disconnection. It has also instructed that no new patients be admitted, and existing patients must be shifted if no improvement is made. Attempts to get the hospital's comment were unsuccessful.
