Two labourers receive Rs 1.16cr cyberfraud funds, arrested
Rajkot: The Rajkot City Cybercrime police arrested two daily-wage labourers from Gondal for allegedly facilitating the transfer of money siphoned off in a stock market investment tips racket, complaints of which have been lodged across the country.
Those arrested were Paresh Makwana (34) and Monek Dudhrejiya (33).
Preliminary investigation revealed that 17 separate complaints were filed across Delhi, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana against Makwana's account, while Dudhrejiya's account had three complaints from different locations in India. The two accounts collectively received about Rs 1.16 crore from across the country.
Their names surfaced during the investigation of a complaint on Aug 7 by 39-year-old Jay Rathod, a manager in a private company, who lost Rs 16 lakh in the scam.
In May, he saw a Facebook post about stock market investment. Clicking the post led him to an online form, which he filled out. Soon, he was added to a WhatsApp group offering stock market tips. The accused later sent him a link to download an application called Feen Vault, where an account was created in his name.

Every time he transferred money to the accused's bank accounts, the equivalent amount appeared in his app wallet.
Between June 30 and July 24, Rathod invested around Rs 16 lakh.
When he tried to withdraw his investment along with the promised profit, the accused demanded a 15% tax payment before releasing the funds. Realising he was cheated, Rathod approached the police.
Senior police inspector J M Kaila said the arrested duo admitted to opening the accounts and handing over their debit card kits to a woman named Dharmishtha Yadav in exchange for Rs 10,000 each. A search has been launched for Yadav.
