#SHOWBIZ: A memorable evening with three dynamic songbirds
THE recent "An Evening To Remember" showcase, featuring three popular singers — Datin Alyah, Ayu Damit and Idayu Yaakob — was a resounding success. The two-night event, held at the Park Inn by Radisson Putrajaya Hotel, was a sold-out affair which drew over 400 fans, including some who travelled all the way from Singapore. Resounding success After the final performance, Alyah, 44, whose full name is Noor Hasliah Abu Hasan, expressed her satisfaction and relief at the showcase's success, which exceeded her expectations. "I'm grateful that a showcase of this scale successfully achieved its target," she said. "Although we were saddened to hear the news of the sudden passing of Raja Nurfatimah Mawar Mohamed, assistant editor of entertainment news at 'Berita Harian', earlier on Sunday afternoon, we carried the 'vibe' from the first night well into the second," she said after the second night's performance, which concluded at 11.30pm. When asked about the trio's performance, Alyah believed the audience left feeling satisfied and entertained on both evenings. "The three of us did our utmost best because the songs and segments were different for the first and second nights. "We also received very positive feedback from fans and acquaintances." The evening began with a lively opening act by host Kelly Azman, who performed his single 'No No No'. This was followed by a brief moment of silence in honour of the late Raja Nurfatimah, before the trio took to the stage to perform two songs, 'Semua Jadi Satu' and 'Hanya Memuji'. Impressive vocal work Next was Idayu Yaakob's solo segment, which she kicked off with 'I Love You'. The 40-year-old then delivered an impressive rendition of Jaclyn Victor's 'Di Bawah Pohon Asmara', impersonating several singers, starting with Jaclyn's distinctive style and voice. The audience's reaction clearly showed their delight as Idayu flawlessly covered the song, mimicking iconic voices such as Ning Baizura, Ella, Noraniza Idris, Yuna, Wann, Datuk Sheila Majid, Datuk Sudirman and even Luciano Pavarotti. Idayu continued her medley with 'Kasih Yang Terpisah' and 'Tiada Lagi Tangisan', the latter a tribute to the late composer Datuk Adnan Abu Hassan. Captivating and poignant sessions Alyah then took to the stage for her much-anticipated solo performance, opening with her popular hits 'Sesal Separuh Nyawa', 'Kisah Hati' and 'Jutaan Purnama'. She concluded her segment with a captivating cover of Rihanna's 'Where Have You Been'. Ayu Damit, 35, followed, enchanting the audience with 'Bukan Dia Tapi Aku', 'Hanya Di Mercu' and 'To Love Somebody'. It was a touching moment when the three singers reunited to perform 'Dawai', a powerful tribute to the people of Gaza. This segment was also a collaboration with the non-governmental organisation Karisma Humanitarian Outreach Mission (KHOM). To conclude the evening, the trio performed a series of songs: 'Dia', 'Sekilas Senyumanmu', 'Akhirnya Kini Pasti' and 'Kesal', before returning for an encore with 'Simply The Best'. Beyong the music The showcase also featured a captivating fashion show, a collaboration with the Malaysian Fashion Business Development Association (PEFEM), highlighting collections from local designer brands Nina By Couture and Symplleen by Sharleen David. There was also a dynamic dance performance by Adults & Kids by Dayana Production. Beyond being serenaded by the talented singers, audience members had the chance to win exciting prizes if they had dressed up for the evening. Lucky attendees walked away with gifts sponsored by Mandalay and Rafflesia, as well as two umrah packages courtesy of Izz Ikhwan Travel & Tours.

How hotels can attract and retain loyalty members
This story was originally published on Hotel Dive. To receive daily news and insights, subscribe to our free daily Hotel Dive newsletter. This article includes insights from Hotel Dive's recent live event, 'How to scale a hotel loyalty program.' You can watch the full event here. For years, hotel companies have used loyalty programs to attract and retain guests through unique member benefits and exclusive rewards. In uncertain economic times, though — when guest preferences are more inclined to shift — loyalty can be a lifeline for hotels. It's essential that hotels know their guests well to adapt and provide the value they demand. During a fireside chat hosted by Hotel Dive, Nandika Suri, vice president of loyalty, co-brand credit card and partnerships at Choice Hotels International, shared what today's hotel guests want most from loyalty programs and how leveraging brand partnerships can enhance a program's value proposition. Amid ongoing economic uncertainty and declined consumer confidence, loyalty programs can 'be a very strong driver for retention and engagement for brands' because of the perceived value they provide, Suri said. 'We know that when members engage with the loyalty program, they come back to the brand more often. They spend more. They're actually also spending on property,' Suri said. Since loyalty programs are a driver of guest retention, it's important for hotel brands to cater their programs to guest demand. Currently, guests want more experiential rewards, per Suri. 'Loyalty is about creating brand love and deepening that emotional connection, and experiences are often the driver of why consumers are actually traveling,' Suri said. A 2024 Deloitte study found that even in times of high inflation, consumers prioritize travel, though they are more likely to splurge on experiences now than in years past. 'By providing members experiences that actually resonate with their passion points, we're deepening that emotional connection with them,' Suri said. Choice has applied this strategy to its brand offerings as well. Last year, the hotel company repositioned its Park Inn by Radisson brand to fit the needs of 'a new generation of experience-centered and value-conscious travelers.' Choice Hotels acquired the Park Inn by Radisson brand as part of its acquisition of Radisson Hotels Americas in 2022, which, per Suri, was part of a broader strategy to diversify Choice's portfolio. Through its Radisson acquisition and other recent brand partnerships — including one with Westgate Resorts — Choice is 'able to provide more attractive offerings to our members' as well as 'appeal to a wider base of customers,' which, in turn, drives loyalty, Suri said. In January, Choice entered a strategic partnership with Westgate Resorts to bring 21 Westgate properties across nine states under its reservation system. Through the deal, the Westgate hotels became bookable with points on the Choice Privileges rewards program. Hotel companies can also leverage brand partnerships to expand their experiential reward options, per Suri. Choice has previously partnered with sports marketing company Learfield to offer guests access to college football and basketball gameday experiences. Choice also recently teamed with Trackhouse Racing Team on NASCAR events, as sports tourism gains popularity. Other hotel players that have partnered with big name brands to offer diversified loyalty rewards include Marriott International, which took Marriott Bonvoy members to Taylor Swift's Eras Tour last year. Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, meanwhile, is collaborating with restaurant chain Applebee's on food and beverage rewards. Hotel loyalty membership across five key brand families — Choice, Hilton, Hyatt Hotels, Marriott and Wyndham — surged in 2024, with hotel brand partnerships bolstering the growth, CBRE reported in April. As hotel loyalty strategies continue to evolve and membership grows, hotels will pivot away from transactional loyalty and focus on experiential loyalty, according to Suri. 'Loyalty is becoming less and less about the transaction benefits that you get from the program and more about experiential benefits,' she said. 'What has really become important is understanding that end-to-end journey of the customer and figuring out how the loyalty program can be relevant in the context of their overall journey.' Customers also want more flexibility and choice, Suri said, both in how they own and use their points as well as how they engage with the loyalty program. A guest could — and often does — have a variety of purposes for traveling, needing different types of accommodations for those different purposes, Suri explained. That's why it's important for hotels to 'think about customers in those different stages of their journey and make the program more relevant or appealing for them,' she said. Additionally, consumers have developed 'less and less patience for more complex terms, rules and structures,' Suri said, and they want loyalty to be simple. Guests 'want to understand more simply how they can actually access their benefits' — something hotels should bear in mind when they're designing, managing and running their loyalty programs, according to Suri.

Radisson Hotel Group launches first two Verified Net Zero hotels
BRUSSELS, May 21, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Radisson Hotel Group is proud to announce its first two hotels to achieve Verified Net Zero status, achieving 2040 requirements of the Net Zero Methodology for Hotels today. The properties in Oslo and Manchester are taking steps to eliminate Scope 1 & 2 emissions, significantly reduce Scope 3 emissions, aligned with the GHG protocol, and remove the remaining footprint with Nature Based Solutions. The achievement is unique, as the alignment with the Net Zero Methodology for Hotels is verified by a third party, TÜV Rheinland. With the launch of two Verified Net Zero Hotels, Radisson Hotel Group is setting the gold standard for sustainable hospitality. The existing Park Inn by Radisson Manchester City Centre is renovated to Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre, A Verified Net Zero Hotel, completing its transition on 19 th May 2025. The current Park Inn by Radisson Oslo City Centre will be renovated to Radisson RED Oslo City Centre, A Verified Net Zero Hotel, and will be in operation as of the beginning of July 2025. Net Zero actions in carbon footprint Scopes 1, 2 and 3 The Verified Net Zero program is comprehensive and includes the carbon footprint from energy use (Scopes 1 & 2 as defined by the Greenhouse Gas Protocol or GHG) as well as the hotel's operational and supply chain footprint (Scope 3). Actions include the use of 100% renewable energy, achieved through electrification of hotels and/or the purchase of 100% renewable energy for all hotel functions from heating, cooling, hot water to cooking and spa & pool facilities. Next to overhauling operations to minimize waste, Radisson Hotel Group has re-evaluated its supply chains with a focus on Food & Beverage, and other sources of emissions such as hotel related transportation to minimize emissions. All remaining emissions are compensated using Nature Based carbon credits from carbon removal in partnership with Agreena, the largest soil carbon program in Europe, supporting over 2,300 farmers to regenerate more than 4.5 million hectares of European farmland. "Radisson Hotel Group aims to become Net Zero by 2050. While the move is easier in new build properties, the reality is that 80% of the buildings that need to become Net Zero by 2050 are already built. We believe it is critical to move as fast as possible with these existing buildings. Today, we are demonstrating that Net Zero conversion hotels are possible. In a conversion approach, the Manchester and Oslo hotels prove that non-sustainable hotels can become high performing asset classes with a positive impact on the planet. This approach needs to be serious and verified. And we are doing so with TÜV Rheinland. These Verified Net Zero hotels bring the future forward and offer guests the pinnacle of sustainable stays." commented Federico J. González, Executive Vice Chairman at Radisson Hotel Group. How guests will experience Verified Net Zero during their stay The opportunity to stay at a Verified Net Zero property allows guests to become part of a forward-thinking movement that combines comfort and innovation with sustainability. Verified Net Zero properties do this through three key features: 100% renewable energy, low-carbon menus, and by being a minimal waste hotel. Radisson Hotel Group's Verified Net Zero properties give guests the unique opportunity to stay in a hotel knowing their stay has a net zero carbon footprint. Using 100% renewable energy sources means that Verified Net Zero hotels do not depend on using environmentally damaging fossil fuels for heating, cooling, hot water, and cooking. Radisson Hotel Group partnered with Klimato – a specialized partner from Sweden – to develop low-carbon menus by analyzing the entire food offering for in-room dining menus, M&E menus and the breakfast buffet, curating recipes to lower their overall carbon footprint. Guests are informed by clear labels, ranking recipes' carbon footprints from A (best) to E (worst). Menus focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients while reducing recipe carbon footprints up to 40%, without compromising on taste. New measures are in place to minimize waste based on the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle principles. Guests can rest assured a maximum of the waste will be avoided or recycled, and none of the waste goes to landfill. To enhance recycling and minimize waste, Verified Net Zero hotels: Regarding the announcement, Inge Huijbrechts, Chief Sustainability & Security Officer at Radisson Hotel Group, said, "With the opening of our first two Verified Net Zero hotels, Radisson Hotel Group demonstrates its commitment to Net Zero 2050, and to showcasing truly sustainable hospitality. For the first time, we focus on reducing emissions from energy, operations and the supply chain. As we face the evolving challenge of climate change, Radisson Hotel Group is taking an essential step in reshaping the future of hospitality, one Verified Net Zero hotel at a time." Re-opening of Radisson Net Zero Hotel Manchester City Centre Following the refurbishment of the Park Inn by Radisson property, Radisson Hotel Manchester City Centre, A Verified Net Zero Hotel, brings a rebranded/upgraded hospitality experience, located just steps from the AO Arena and Manchester Victoria train station.
