HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — Huntsville Transit is offering free rides to college students and staff members to help the environment.
This initiative seeks to reduce carbon emissions by offering free rides to those with a valid college ID from April 21-26, as the world observes Earth Day on April 22.

Additionally, the City of Huntsville said this initiative helps spotlight the convenience and efficiency that Huntsville Transit offers.
'We are always eager to connect with the public and demonstrate the ease and benefits of using Huntsville Transit,' Director of Parking and Public Transit Quisha Bryant said. 'And during this promotion, we also raise environmental awareness.'
Huntsville Transit's environmental commitment includes encouraging people to take the bus, carpooling, vanpooling, biking and other alternatives to driving alone.
Huntsville is also studying the feasibility of implementing a bus rapid transit corridor to serve key activity and employment centers along University Drive.
