The Johannesburg Junior Council commemorates 1952 heroines
The Johannesburg Junior Council (JJC) united for their Women's Month march at Parktown Boys' High School on August 10.
The JJC's Outreach chairperson, Lesedi Moletsane, said that the march was a way to honour the women who were brave enough to march to the Union Buildings in 1956.

'Our Women's Month march was also a way for us to create a space of unity as the JJC.'
The JJC's facilitator, Sandy Colman, said the council is an NPO that consists of eight young leaders in Grade 11. There is also the Johannesburg Mini Council that is made up of 80 Grade 7s.
Colman added that the learners came from 40 schools across Johannesburg.
The JJC provides opportunities for its members to enhance their community project management skills, broaden their knowledge, and cultivate the culture of active citizenry. By doing so, the JJC empowers young people to become agents of change.
'Our objectives include developing interest in civic and community affairs, awareness of those less privileged and seeing what problems society faces, and sharpening leadership skills. '
