IPL Fans Are Dreading This TV Ad As Cricket Finally Returns. Can You Guess It?
Last Updated: IPL 2025 returns with RCB Vs KKR contest on Saturday evening but fans are dreading the recurring ads played during IPL broadcast. Can you guess which one is it? Indian Premier League (IPL) fans are all geared up for the resumption of their favourite cricket series after the 18th edition was suspended briefly. IPL 2025 was halted amid the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. As the woes of potential war breaking out between the two nations subsided, BCCI chalked up a new schedule to bring this year's IPL to a conclusion which is already in its final leg. The first match after the announcement of suspension will be played at the Stadium in Bengaluru between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday, May 13. A time to gather once again and celebrate cricket, IPL fans are rather worried. Why? Let's us find out. If you are just tuning in, there's an advertisement that plays on loop during the IPL commercial breaks. It's genius, it's jarring, it's on tv all the time. 'Dena zara Marie!" 'Almari?" 'Arrey, Marie Marie!" 'Icchadhari? Kaun saans hamari?" 'Buri hai yeh bemaari." 'Arrey, Parle Marie maang rahi hoon main!" Parle Products, the Indian food corporation that gave us the iconic Parle-G, decided to come up with a series of TVC for their Marie biscuits and it turned out to be a crash course in marketing. Call It Parle Marie The idea behind the viral ads is simple. The magic word is 'Parle". Call it just 'Marie" and you are in an infinite back and forth of conveying what you actually want. The message behind the several commercials is that Parle Marie is the only Marie biscuit worth asking for. Calling it just 'Marie" wouldn't cut it. Social Media Isn't Prepared Going by the recent posts made by users on 'X', it is clear that as much as they want to tune in to IPL, they are aware that the airing of Parle Marie adverts is something they cannot simply escape. Tomorrow, this torture will start again. — Aditya Saha (@Adityakrsaha) May 16, 2025 Parle Marie Causes Outrage As viral as the ad became, the repetition of 'Parle Marie" during IPL breaks brought Internet together to fight a common cause: take the ad off air. The chorus only grew louder with time. 'That Parle Marie ad campaign is a brilliant case of pissing people off by getting on their nerves to the point where they'll never forget the brand. It's the next most irritating thing to come out of IPL after jhumping jhapang," wrote one angered viewer. 'I will never ever in my life buy parle Marie biscuits for disgusting and cringe advertisement video," chimed another. 'I know why Parle is doing it but this Parle Marie ad series in the IPL is probably one of the most idiotic/irritating ones. They are giving good competition to mere circle mein aaja cacophony." 'If Parle's goal was to make sure no one ever buys Parle Marie again, that IPL ad is a masterpiece. Mission accomplished." Marie History Lesson top videos View all The recurring Parle Marie ads unwittingly contributed in teaching netizens a very unique lesson in history. Marie is a type of biscuit rather than being Parle's own invention. Made from wheat flour, sugar, palm oil, with a vanilla tinge to it, these tea-dipping, round, and intricate biscuits date all the way back to 1874. Peek Freans Bakery commemorated Russia's Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna's wedding to the Duke of Edinburg with these tea-dunking treats in London. Initially called Maria, the biscuit's name changed to Marie as it travelled the Europe and became an integral part of Spain's society. First Published:

How Parle Marie Became The Most Viral Ad Of IPL 2025
Last Updated: Parle Marie may just have cracked the code and the Internet with their new TVC that are being aired during the ongoing season of IPL 2025. Millions of (annoyed) Indians who have tuned in day in and day out to catch all the live action that is taking place on the cricket field in the Indian Premier League (IPL) were only coming to grips with Aaja mere circle mein aaja jingle playing on loop during the commercial breaks when Parle decided to make its entry to the cash-rich league with its new TVC and the Internet collectively went: 'It's time to stop!" But why are cricket watchers annoyed by an ad for a biscuit and how did good ol' Parle manage to capture the attention of the new generation? Parle Marie Parle Products, the Indian food corporation, that gave us the iconic Parle-G, a staple in every desi household, chose to drop their new commercial during the IPL breaks. The ads are a crash course in marketing 101. Because why would the cookies, macarons, and Crème Brûlée consuming generation talk about biscuits? Simply put, biscuits aren't cool. They silently exist in a dabba and are meant to be consumed while you and I decide what to cook or order in. Genius? 'Dena zara Marie!" 'Almari?" 'Arrey, Marie Marie!" 'Icchadhari? Kaun saans hamari?" 'Buri hai yeh bemaari." The message behind the many Parle Marie ads is simple. One can't hear the word 'Marie" unless it is prefixed with the name of Parle. Parle Marie is the only Marie biscuit worth asking for, the several ads convey. Be it a kitty party, a catch up with your friend or grocery shopping, you will only be heard if you say the golden word. Just saying Marie won't cut it. Parle's decision to air the tonally-repetitive campaign about biscuits during IPL broadcast has worked and successfully (or forcefully) embedded 'Parle Marie" in the public consciousness like never before. This is the first instance in the past half a decade or so that 'Parle Marie" has seen such a spike or interest, organic or forced, on Google Trends. (Google Trends) Social Media Frenzy 'Compelled by those atrocious Parle Marie ads, I wrote a tiny browser extension to auto mute certain IPL ads on Hotstar. It actually works really well and also mutes Vimal, Kamla Pasand, My11, Pokerbaazi etc ads out of the box," wrote one X user who went the extra mile in their disdain for the Parle Marie ad. (link below) — pea bee (@prstb) May 1, 2025 Is any publicity good publicity? Apparently not. Parle Marie ads that hog up the break time during the IPL encounters on a daily basis have been disliked far and wide by Indian janta so much so that they are being reminded of other food and confectionary brands that sell Marie biscuits. Britannia doesn't need work hard to sell their marie gold, these parle marie ad is enough 😭 — SwatKat💃 (@swatic12) May 2, 2025 The online hate and the backlash that has come Parle's way hasn't reached the top bosses yet. Speaking to exchange4media, Parle Products' VP Mayank Shah said that they were confident about their humourous campaign achieving the top-of-mind recall. Marie History Parle's Marie advertisement outing has made a few netizens aware of a thing or two about these biscuits. One being that Marie is a type of biscuit rather than being Parle's own invention. Called Maria initially, the biscuits gained popularity in Europe. Marie biscuits became the symbol of recovery post civil war for Spain, a report in noted. Parle Products' new ad emphasises that the name matters
India's manufacturer of biscuits and confectionery , Parle Products has launched a new TVC for Parle Marie , aiming to carve a distinct space in the Marie biscuit segment. With humorous narrative, the campaign highlights the importance of asking for the biscuit by its full name 'Parle Marie' making it the definitive choice for consumers during their tea breaks. As the market leader with a portfolio including Parle-G , Krack Jack , and Hide & Seek, Parle is now set to further strengthen its presence in the Marie biscuit category, the company stated in a press release. The new TVC captures relatable, everyday scenarios where the simple act of asking for a 'Marie' biscuit results in unexpected confusion. The ad drives home a witty yet clear message: there's only one Marie biscuit worth asking for—Parle Marie. By highlighting these moments with humor and charm, the campaign ensures high recall value and connects strongly with Indian audiences across age groups. The idea was to bring out a universal consumer insight in an engaging and humorous way, while clearly reinforcing that when it comes to Marie, it has to be Parle Marie.'
