Indian Premier League (IPL) fans are all geared up for the resumption of their favourite cricket series after the 18th edition was suspended briefly. IPL 2025 was halted amid the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. As the woes of potential war breaking out between the two nations subsided, BCCI chalked up a new schedule to bring this year's IPL to a conclusion which is already in its final leg. The first match after the announcement of suspension will be played at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday, May 13.

The idea behind the viral ads is simple. The magic word is 'Parle". Call it just 'Marie" and you are in an infinite back and forth of conveying what you actually want. The message behind the several commercials is that Parle Marie is the only Marie biscuit worth asking for. Calling it just 'Marie" wouldn't cut it.

Going by the recent posts made by users on 'X', it is clear that as much as they want to tune in to IPL, they are aware that the airing of Parle Marie adverts is something they cannot simply escape.

Parle Marie Causes Outrage
As viral as the ad became, the repetition of 'Parle Marie" during IPL breaks brought Internet together to fight a common cause: take the ad off air. The chorus only grew louder with time.
'That Parle Marie ad campaign is a brilliant case of pissing people off by getting on their nerves to the point where they'll never forget the brand. It's the next most irritating thing to come out of IPL after jhumping jhapang," wrote one angered viewer.
'I will never ever in my life buy parle Marie biscuits for disgusting and cringe advertisement video," chimed another.
'I know why Parle is doing it but this Parle Marie ad series in the IPL is probably one of the most idiotic/irritating ones. They are giving good competition to mere circle mein aaja cacophony."

Radha Yadav replaces injured Shuchi Upadhyay in India squad for England tour
Left-arm spinner Radha Yadav on Thursday replaced injured Shuchi Upadhyay in the India women's squad for their upcoming tour of England for five T20Is and three ODIs starting on June 28. The BCCI informed in a statement that the 20-year-old left-arm spinner Upadhyay, who made her ODI debut last month during the tri-series in Sri Lanka, has sustained a left shin injury. 'The Women's Selection Committee has named Radha Yadav as a replacement for Shuchi Upadhyay in Team India's squads for the England tour,' the BCCI said. 'Shuchi was ruled out of the tour after sustaining a left shin injury, which was diagnosed during the pre-tour camp at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru,' it added. The women's team's tour begins with the opening T20I on June 28 at Nottingham with the second match slated on July 1 at Bristol. The third T20I will be at the Oval on July 4, fourth on July 9 at Manchester and fifth on July 12 at Birmingham. The three ODIs will be played on July 16, 19 and 22 at Southampton, Lord's and Chester-le-Street respectively. Ashoka writes to NHRC over Chinnaswamy stampede
Bengaluru, Jun 12 (UNI) Karnataka Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka on Thursday urged the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) to take suo motu cognisance of the June 4 stampede outside M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here, which left 11 people dead and 75 injured during the IPL victory celebrations of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). In a letter addressed to NHRC Chairperson, Ashoka alleged gross negligence and administrative failure on the part of the state government, police, and event organisers. He described the incident as a 'grave human rights violation' and called for a comprehensive investigation to fix accountability. 'This is not merely an unfortunate accident—it reflects a systemic failure and blatant disregard for public safety. The fundamental right to life of the victims was violated,' Ashoka stated. The stampede occurred when thousands of people gathered near the stadium following social media messages and reports that entry to the celebration would be free. The turnout reportedly far exceeded the crowd-handling capacity of the area. Ashoka outlined five major lapses that he believes led to the tragic stampede outside M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4. He pointed to overcrowding caused by misleading announcements and overselling of the event, which resulted in lakhs of people arriving at a venue meant to accommodate only 35,000. This, he alleged, was exacerbated by inadequate police deployment and a lack of basic crowd control measures. Ashoka further highlighted the absence of emergency services at the scene, with eyewitnesses reporting shortages of ambulances, medical aid, and even water. He accused RCB, the event management firm DNA, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) of failing to coordinate and implement essential safety protocols. The state government's delayed and inadequate response—despite registering FIRs and announcing a probe—was also criticised as insufficient and reactive. Calling the incident a grave human rights violation, Ashoka appealed to the NHRC to take suo motu cognisance of the tragedy. He sought a thorough investigation into the roles of all responsible parties, legal action against those found negligent, formulation of national guidelines for large public events, and active monitoring of the inquiry to ensure accountability and justice for the victims. 'This tragedy has shaken public confidence. It is imperative that justice be delivered and preventive steps be taken to ensure no family has to suffer such a loss again,' he wrote.
