Copenhagen [Denmark], May 30 (ANI): Former Union Minister MJ Akbar, who is a part of the all-party delegation led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the remarks made by Denmark's side showed their support to India. BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad too, while talking to ANI said that they had a wonderful meeting with the Denmark's side. The delegation met Christian Friis Bach, Chairperson of Danish Parliament's Foreign Policy Committee, and Danish MP Trine Pertou Mach. 'The recent Pahalgam terror attack was a brutal form, barbaric form of communal terrorism of the kind that Europe had also remarks that they made were enough to show that the mission that the delegation Prime Minister has sent is having an impact,' Akbar said. Prasad while talking to ANI said, 'We had a wonderful meeting with him. He understood the problem of terrorism, conveyed his views and Denmark was the first to convey understood India's position. We thank him from the core of our hearts.' The All-Party Parliamentary Delegation, led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, arrived in Denmark on Friday. Indian Ambassador to Copenhagen, Manish Prabhat, received the delegation. The All-Party Parliamentary Delegation was given a detailed briefing by Prabhat on India-Denmark bilateral relations of 'Green Strategic Partnership', shared values and issues of mutual concern, including the challenge of combating terrorism globally. The delegation, led by Ravi Shankar Prasad, includes BJP MPs Daggubati Purandeswari, M J Akbar, Ghulam Ali Khatana and Samik Bhattacharya; Amar Singh from Congress MP, Priyanka Chaturvedi from Shiv Sena (UBT) and former diplomat Pankaj Saran. The delegation aims to brief international partners on India's response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and its broader fight against cross-border terrorism while engaging with leaders in France, the UK, Germany, the EU, Italy and Denmark. The Kingdom of Bahrain serves as a model in promoting the principles of the Bandung Declaration, promoting solidarity among nations. Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council and Deputy Head of the Parliamentary Delegation, made this statement during his address at the 4th Conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement, held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the Bandung Spirit. The conference, titled 'The Role of Parliaments in Promoting the Bandung Principles,' was held on the sidelines of the 150th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. The Bahraini delegation was also represented by His Excellency MP Abdulnabi Salman Ahmed, First Deputy Speaker of the Council of Representatives, His Excellency Dr. Bassam Ismail Al-Binmohammed, and His Excellency MP Dr. Mahdi Abdulaziz Al-Shuwaikh. During his speech, Fakhro highlighted Bahrain's steadfast commitment to strengthening both regional and international stability. Cooperation He noted that Bahrain believes cooperation between nations is essential for achieving sustainable development and justice, forming part of the Kingdom's strategic vision to build a more cohesive, united world based on peaceful coexistence. The lawmaker highlighted Bahrain's role in promoting peaceful coexistence globally, pointing out the United Nations General Assembly's recent approval of Bahrain's draft resolution to designate January 28 as the International Day of Peaceful Coexistence. This initiative, launched by the King Hamad Global Centre for Coexistence and Tolerance, reflects Bahrain's continued commitment to advancing noble human values on the international stage.

Tashkent: Mohammed Ibrahim Al Sisi Al Buainain, Secretary General of the Council of Representatives and Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Delegation, and Karima Mohammed Al Abbasi, Secretary General of the Shura Council, represented Bahrain in the Association of Secretaries General of Parliaments (ASGP) Meeting. This event was held alongside the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Uzbekistan, focusing on 'Developments and Innovations in Parliamentary Work.' According to Bahrain News Agency, Al Buainain emphasized Bahrain's commitment to innovation as a crucial part of its national strategies, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. He highlighted ongoing efforts in digital transformation within the parliamentary sector, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance parliamentary efficiency and service delivery. Ini tiatives involve the digitisation of session management, electronic access to agendas and documents for MPs, and a reduction in paper usage. AI tools are also being developed to aid decision-making and data analysis. Al Buainain outlined Bahrain's 2025-2026 parliamentary digital transformation and AI plan, which encompasses four main goals, 20 flagship projects, and an extensive roadmap targeting eight AI initiatives and 30 electronic services. He introduced innovative platforms such as the 'Nuwab Platform,' the 'Parliamentary Adviser,' the 'Digital Legal Advisor,' the 'Nuwab' smartphone application, and the 'Smart Researcher.' New initiatives include a legislative podcast platform, a data information portal, a digital session analytics platform, and the 'Bayanat' platform. He stressed the importance of these advancements in enhancing transparency, legislative efficiency, and citizen engagement. Karima Mohammed Al Abbasi highlighted Bahrain's efforts to integrate advanced technological solutions across vari ous sectors, in alignment with the vision of His Majesty the King and the support of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. She pointed out that adopting AI tools is now essential for improving performance efficiency. The Shura Council has successfully implemented a digital transformation programme that incorporates AI into legislative operations, contributing to cost reduction, resource efficiency, and improved performance metrics.

Bahrain's Parliamentary Delegation Engages in IPU Governing Council Meeting in Uzbekistan

Tashkent: The Parliamentary Delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain participated in the 215th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Governing Council, held in Uzbekistan, as part of the 150th IPU Assembly. According to Bahrain News Agency, the delegation was represented by Jamal Mohammed Fakhro, First Deputy Chairman of the Shura Council and Deputy Head of the Parliamentary Delegation; Dalal Jassim Al Zayed, Member of the Shura Council; Dr. Mahdi Abdulaziz Al Shuwaikh; and MP Maryam Saleh Al Dhaen. During the session, Tanzila Norbaeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis (Supreme Assembly) of Uzbekistan, was elected President of the 150th IPU Assembly. The meeting reviewed the report of the 214th session of the Governing Council, presented by Tulia Ackson, President of the IPU, highlighting activities undertaken by the Governing Council and Executive Committee during the previous term, as well as initiatives launched during her six-month presidency. Martin Chungong, Secretary General of the IPU, presented the 2024 Impact and Outlook Report, an update on progress made under the IPU Strategy 2022-2026, and the Union's financial performance and status report. The session also discussed proposed amendments to the IPU Statutes and Rules, and participating parliamentary leaders and representatives explored key priority areas for the IPU's 2025 agenda.
