New format unique & contemporary: 'S'-shaped seating pattern; OMR-based exam in Bengal Higher Secondary 3rd semester to curb cheating
KOLKATA: An S-shaped seating pattern is set to debut in the semester-based Higher Secondary examination to be held from Sept 8 to Sept 22 to prevent students from cheating. West Bengal Higher Secondary Council has split the HS exam into four semesters, with students taking the 1st and 2nd semester exams in Class 11 and 3rd and 4th in Class 12. The 2026 HS batch will write their 3rd semester exam this Sept. It will have multiple-choice questions and be held on OMR sheets. "The seating plan should be in an 'S' pattern. There should not be more than two examinees on each bench," the Council has said. The alternating pattern will continue throughout the classroom. A set of question paper will still be placed at the designated spot even if a student is absent so as not to break the pattern. No examinee will be allowed to leave the hall before the end of the 75-minute examination. Except in extreme cases they will also not be allowed to use the washroom. "Multiple sets of question papers will be distributed to discourage cheating because answers to MCQs are easy to copy. The pattern we have planned will make students ready for competitive exams and make the process transparent," said HS Council president Chiranjib Bhattacharjee. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like [국가인증] 키성장 인증받은 '이 제품' 2개월치 무료증정 이벤트 곧 마감! 아이클타임 더 알아보기 Undo Sample OMR sheets will be uploaded soon to help students with their preparation. Salary cleared for 15,403 untainted school teachers
Kolkata: Altogether 15,403 untainted teachers at state schools are eligible to continue their services following the Supreme Court order . The figure was mentioned in a district-wise list that was on Wednesday circulated from the school district inspector's office to institutes across Bengal. The West Bengal School Service Commission (WBSSC) submitted three distinct-wise lists to the state school education department that reportedly identify deserving candidates and tainted individuals, who were appointed through rank jumps and out-of-panel appointments and OMR mismatch disputes. Among the total appointments of 17,206 assistant teachers to classes IX-XII, 15,403 were found untainted, while the remaining 1,803 candidates tainted. Among them, 223 teachers were appointed through rank jumps and out-of-panel appointments. School heads received a letter, along with the names of untainted candidates, from the DI offices, instructing them to contact these teachers and ask them to join duty following the Supreme Court order. School heads expressed that this clarification was a big relief as they finally emerged from the quandary of how to handle the situation. A school principal in Kolkata said, "Untainted teachers will join school, sign the attendance register, perform regular duties, enjoy leave, PF and other benefits. Non-teaching staff (both tainted and untainted) and tainted teachers will not receive these benefits. The specific list will help us act. Otherwise, it would have been difficult for us to stop those who were not allowed to join. But I don't know how the school will run smoothly without non-teaching staff." Jadavpur Vidyapith headmaster Partha Pratim Baidya said, "This order was much required." by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Scarlett Johansson, 40, Shows Off Her Real Size In A New Vacation Photos 33 Bridges Undo Headmaster of Mitra Institution, Bhawanipur, Raja Dey said, "There are two teachers in our school from the 2016 SLST panel, but only one name is there on the list. The salary portal has been unlocked now for uploading the salary requisition. So I will do that, according to the direction." The list and the notice had an immediate impact on the teachers' agitation near the SSC office. Several teachers left from the protest site after learning about their names appearing on the education department's list of untainted candidates. Amrita Dutta, who came from South Dinajpur, said, "I appreciate this first step that the department has taken. I will return to school on Saturday. But I want the state to take steps to secure my job." Jolly Adhikari, a life science teacher, said, "I am relieved. I must say it's a sign of a positive step by the state govt. I will definitely join school following the Supreme Court order, but the protest will continue until we reach the target."
