Clinical Bangladesh thump sloppy Pakistan in first T20I

Fast bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman rocked Pakistan for 110 before opener Parvez Hossain hit an unbeaten 50 as Bangladesh won the first Twenty20 international by seven wickets in Dhaka on Sunday. Taskin finished with 3-22 while Rahman grabbed 2-6 in his four economical overs to dismiss the visitors in 19.3 overs for Pakistan's lowest total against Bangladesh in all T20Is. Parvez smashed five sixes and three boundaries in his 39-ball 56 not out to help the home team chase down the target in 15.3 overs, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Debutant Pakistan pacer Salman Mirza (2-23) jolted Bangladesh with wickets of Tanzid Hasan (one) and Litton Das (one) but Parvez and Towhid Hridoy (36) added 73 for the third wicket to ease up the chase. It was only Bangladesh's fourth win over Pakistan in 23 T20Is. For Pakistan, opener Fakhar Zaman top-scored with a 34-ball 44, which included six boundaries and a six, while Abbas Afridi scored 22 and Khushdil Shah 17. Pakistan's previous lowest T20I total against Bangladesh was 127-5 at the same venue in 2021. Litton admitted batting was not easy on a slow pitch. "It's not an easy wicket to bat on, but the way we batted, it looked good," said Litton. "We took early wickets and that's the key point." Pakistan skipper Salman Agha blamed poor batting. "It wasn't enough on the board as we lost wickets at regular intervals which we have to talk about before the second game," said Agha. Sent into bat, Pakistan had a disastrous start, with half the side dismissed for 46 in the eighth over with Saim Ayub (six), Mohammad Haris (four) and Agha (three) falling cheaply. Hasan Nawaz fell without scoring and Mohammad Nawaz made just three. Zaman, dropped on four and 30, added 24 for the sixth wicket before he was run out after being sent back by Khushdil Shah but was caught out of his crease. Shah and Abbas took Pakistan past the 100-mark during their 33-run stand for the seventh wicket. The remaining matches are on Tuesday and Thursday, also in Dhaka.

Parvez lifts Bangladesh to 196-6 against Pakistan in third T20I

LAHORE: Parvez Hossain hit a fiery half century to guide Bangladesh to 196-6 in the third and final Twenty20 international against Pakistan in Lahore on Sunday. Parvez smashed four sixes and seven boundaries in his solid 34-ball 66 and shared a 110-run opening stand with Tanzid Hasan (32-ball 42 with three sixes and as many boundaries) after the tourists were sent in to bat. Pakistan lead the series 2-0 after winning by 37 and 57 runs respectively at the same venue. The Parvez-Tanzid stand gave Bangladesh ideal start for their highest T20I total against Pakistan beating the 175-6 they made against them at Pallekele in 2012. Towhid Hridoy, who scored a 18-ball 25 with a six and two boundaries, then added 49 for the third wicket with Litton Das whose 22 came off 18 balls. Fast bowlers Abbas Afridi (2-26) and Hasan Ali (2-38) were the pick of home bowlers.

Pakistan win BD T20 series

Pakistan's Haris Rauf celebrates with teammate Mohammad Haris after taking the wicket of Bangladesh's Parvez Hossain during the second Twenty20 international cricket match between Pakistan and Bangladesh at the Gaddafi Cricket Stadium, Lahore. PHOTO: AFP Opener Sahibzada Farhan notched his maiden half century and spinner Abrar Ahmed grabbed three wickets to guide Pakistan to another convincing 57-run win over Bangladesh in Lahore on Friday. Farhan smashed a 41-ball 74 and Hasan Nawaz unbeaten 51 off 26 balls to help the home team post 201-6 before Abrar grabbed 3-19 to keep Bangladesh to 144-9 in 19 overs, with the last man Shoriful Islama unable to bat due to injury. Pakistan, who won the first match by 37 runs at the same venue, take an unassailable 2-0 lead with the final match on Sunday, also in Lahore. The win also gives a kickstart to Pakistan's new white-ball head coach Mike Hesson appointed earlier this month to stem a slide which saw them win just three of their last 13 T20s before this series. Bangladesh raced to 32 in the first two overs but openers Parvez Hossain (eight) and Tanzid Hasan (19-ball 33 with five boundaries and a six) fell within two runs of each other. From 46-2, Bangladesh slumped to 56-5 with Abrar dismissing Tohid Hridoy (five) and Jaker Ali (nought) off successive deliveries while pacer Hasan Ali had skipper Litton Das for six. Tanzim Hasan, who topscored with a career best 31-ball 50, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, 23 off 17 balls, added 33 for the eighth wicket but it was too late, too little.
