Sugunamala school students observe World Environment Day
Students of Sugunamala school and members of Anantha Vipra Balaga observed World Environment Day by cleaning the surroundings of Sri Ananthasana Ananthapadmanabha Temple and planting tree saplings at Paniyadi in Udupi on Sunday, June 8.
A release from Paryaya Udupi Puttige Mutt here said the initiative was taken up to create awareness about environment conservation among the students. The Sugunamala school offers residential programme in religious and contemporary education to students.
The students, members of the Anantha Vipra Balaga and temple renovation committee members planted saplings of native variety of trees, including mango, jackfruit, jamoon, cashew, kokam, bilvapatre, and a variety of flowering plants in the temple surroundings. Mutt Diwans Nagaraja Acharya and Prasanna Acharya, School convener Pramod Sagar, K. Raghavendra Bhat from the Balaga and others were present.
