Jennifer Lawrence Gets Real About 1 Aspect Of Motherhood That's ‘Extremely Isolating'
Jennifer Lawrence is opening up about the realities that come with motherhood and how it's affected her work. The 'Passengers' actor stars in a new film, called 'Die My Love,' in which her character develops postpartum psychosis after childbirth. Lawrence, who now has two children, spoke about how her own experience with having children informed her process. 'As a mother, it was really hard to separate what I would do as opposed to what she would do. And it was just heartbreaking,' Lawrence said of her character at a Cannes press conference for the movie, according to Variety. 'I had just had my firstborn, and there's not really anything like postpartum. It's extremely isolating, which is so interesting,' she said, before again talking about her character's experience in the film. 'When Lynne moves this couple into Montana, she doesn't have a community. She doesn't have her people,' Lawrence said. 'But the truth is, extreme anxiety and extreme depression is isolating, no matter where you are. You feel like an alien.' In her experience, 'having children changes everything,' Lawrence said. 'It changes your whole life. It's brutal and incredible,' she continued. 'So not only do they go into every decision of if I'm working, where I'm working, when I'm working, they've taught me — I mean, I didn't know that I could feel so much, and my job has a lot to do with emotion. It's almost like feeling a blister or something — like, so sensitive.' She added, 'I highly recommend having kids if you want to be an actor.' Lawrence only recently welcomed her second child, whom she was pregnant with during the filming of 'Die My Love.' The Oscar winner and her husband, Cooke Maroney, have not publicly released any details about the baby's sex or name. Lawrence and Maroney are also parents to a 3-year-old son, Cy, born in February 2022. The 34-year-old is very honest about her experience as a parent and shares how motherhood has changed her. She revealed in a sit-down with Interview magazine in 2023: 'I didn't have that much security before I had a kid but, once I had one, with my intrusive thoughts and anxiety, I wanted us to have security around all the time.' Michael Sheen, Eva Longoria joins family holiday comedy 'The 12 Days of Christmas'
'Passengers' actor and 'The Sentinel' actress have joined the cast of the upcoming family holiday comedy 'The 12 Days of ', reported Variety. According to the outlet, the film written by Ted Safran will be directed by BAFTA nominee Ben Gregor . According to the outlet, 'The 12 Days of Christmas', will follow the story of the dysfunctional Sullivan family who cancelled the Christmas for the fifth year in a row until someone mysterious starts sending them strange gifts. The hopeless widower Henry (Sheen) and two children, Will and Ella received the gifts, as per Variety. First, a partridge in a pear tree, the next day two turtle doves are sent, followed by three calling birds on day three. Before they know it, the house is full of boisterous animals and house guests, all relating to the famous Christmas song "The Twelve Days of Christmas," reported Variety. The family's lives are turned upside down as they try to figure out just who the mystery gift giver is. Longoria will play the role of Mariana from Animal Protection Services. The synopsis of the film as quoted by Variety states,"Even though this Christmas will be messy, it might turn out to be just the gift the family needs." "We couldn't be more excited about Michael Sheen and Eva Longoria leading the cast. The same goes for the Ben Gregor," said co-writer Patterson as quoted by Variety. The 'Desperate Housewives' star Eva Longoria also received the Platino Honor at the 12th Platino Awards ceremony at the Municipal Palace in Madrid on April 27, reported The Hollywood Reporter.
