Celebrity Wheel of Fortune fans make same blistering complaint about the contestants

Wheel of Fortune fans were thrilled to see Pat Sajak back on their screens - but not everyone was impressed with the rest of the line up. The longtime host, 78, who previously handed over the reins of the main series to Ryan Seacrest, made a return for a celebrity edition of the show. However, while many viewers welcomed the dose of nostalgia, others had a bone to pick with the celebrities featured. The latest episode of Celebrity Wheel of Fortune starred Alvin and the Chipmunks actor Justin Long, Lucifer actress Rachael Harris, and Women's National Basketball Association star Cameron Brink. People on Reddit were less than impressed with the lineup and shared their opinions on the post titled: 'Celebrity (?) Wheel??' 'I admit: I am not plugged into pop culture at all, so I know I'm probably just ignorant, but who are these people?' the poster wrote. 'I've never heard of any of the ones when I manage to tune in.' 'If you have to Google them, they're not celebrities,' another user chimed in. Others agreed, with one viewer saying the trio 'barely qualifies' for the show's title. 'The only one I recognize is Justin Long and even that's a stretch,' one person added. 'Great show to watch but I think the word "celebrity" just might be a stretch for many guests on the show,' someone penned. Someone responded: 'Agree, kind of like Dancing with the Stars.' 'I often Google to find who they are. Celebrity indeed,' a comment read. Still, some fans were quick to defend the casting. 'Tonight's Celeb wheel had two pretty famous people. Justin Long has been in NUMEROUS movies,' one supporter wrote. 'Rachael Harris is a comedian who has been in numerous TV shows (Lucifer being her longest-tenured). Nobody knows WNBA players except for Caitlyn Clark. Lol. 'The girl tonight was the second overall pick so she's kinda high profile in the league I'd say.' While the celebrity picks sparked backlash, Pat Sajak's return seemed to charm longtime fans - many of whom have struggled to warm up to Seacrest's revamped version of the show. 'And Pat came back to host? I thought he was completely retired,' someone wondered. 'I think Pat coming back for that's kinda neat, personally,' another replied. Seacrest took over hosting duties for the regular edition earlier this year, upgrading the puzzle board and visuals, as well as better prizes, including concert and sports tickets.

WNBA star Cameron Brink makes surprising injury revelation during 'Celebrity Wheel of Fortune' appearance

Cameron Brink suffered a devastating injury during her rookie WNBA season. The 21-year-old recently made an appearance on "Celebrity Wheel of Fortune" where she showed off her natural on-camera skills. At one point during her time on the long-running game show, Brink revealed a detail about her injury. "We've done a lot of these celebrity shows, but we've never started off with an injury report," host Pat Sajak said. "I was at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut… a casino, very lucky," Brink replied. "I tore my ACL, tore my meniscus as well. But, it's all surgically repaired now." Brink then offered some insight into her recovery timetable. "So, I'm good now, it's going to take a couple of months to be back." "We always have to give credit to the women before us (because) they've been building up this league for 25 years now. It's crazy to think about. I think due in part to social media and just a really great rookie class, we've gained a lot of fans." The Los Angeles Sparks used the second overall selection in the 2024 WNBA Draft on Brink. Sajak also asked her to recall the moment she was drafted. "Yep. Second. Who knows how? Oh my gosh," Brink quipped. Brink appeared in 15 games last season. She averaged 7.5 points and 5.3 rebounds per game. Vanna White and Ryan Seacrest Shake Up Wheel of Fortune With Casting Change

A major change came to Wheel of Fortune this week. Hosts Ryan Seacrest and Vanna White want to shake things up, so they shared a casting announcement on social media. America's Game Show has undergone many changes in such a short amount of time. Seacrest took over for longtime host Pat Sajak. The show underwent several changes, including a new puzzle board and graphics. WoF watchers also noticed that the show changed the contestant introductions. According to The U.S. Sun, the hosts took to the show's official Instagram account to share an announcement. They want to break tradition with casting. You might've already noticed this week's episodes look a little different. There's a good reason why. 'It's a friendly wheel rivalry all this week as we introduce something new,' Seacrest shared. MORE: Ryan Seacrest wants to make this BTS change. 'For the first time, our groups of contestants know each other. They're all-wheel fans who watch the show together,' White explained. 'And tonight, not only are they playing for cash and prizes, but also for the ultimate victory: bragging rights.' The caption reads: 'We're spicing things up this week with a brand new way of playing wheel!' The change kicked off on Monday, May 12, with a group of friends who work as firefighters. But what do fans think of this change? The outspoken viewers haven't liked most of the changes that have taken place since September 2024. Fans on Reddit shared their thoughts on this casting change. So far, the comments have been mixed. One Redditor admitted they loved this shakeup. The fan wrote, 'I really enjoyed the dynamic of them all being friends, and while I know it shouldn't be the norm, I'd love to see it more often. I have never seen it before…' However, another user was turned off by this concept. The Redditor commented, 'Not a fan of this concept and making the million dollar wedge a group prize is stupid, especially since all 3 have to not land on bankrupt.' A third fan had a suggestion for this change. They noted, 'If they're going to make the million-dollar wedge a group prize that can be lost if any of the three hit a bankrupt for the rest of the game, then the payout should be a million dollars each if it's won!' What are your thoughts on this new shakeup to casting? Would you like to see more friends play together on the show? What other changes would you like to see take place? Let us know in the comments section.

As Pat Sajak Returns For Final Celebrity Wheel Of Fortune Season, Vanna White Recalled How Ryan Seacrest Made Her 'Feel Good' About The Host Swap

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. It was nearly 11 months ago that Pat Sajak — one of the best game show hosts of all time — bid an emotional farewell to Wheel of Fortune after four decades as its leader. Now we're about to get him back — albeit temporarily. Celebrity Wheel of Fortune is set to premiere on the 2025 TV schedule with a fifth season that was taped before Sajak's retirement. As we prepare to see him share the stage with Vanna White again, the famed letter-turner recalled what new host Ryan Seacrest did to make her feel good about the transition. As tough as it was for all the Wheel Watchers to see Pat Sajak retire as Wheel of Fortune's host, think about how Vanna White felt losing her partner after so many years. White has said she knew it would be hard to work with someone else, but she said Ryan Seacrest made the changeover really easy, telling TV Insider: Ryan did his homework. He rehearsed and rehearsed and rehearsed. He also said to me, 'I am not replacing Pat Sajak because no one could – ever. I am just stepping in.' That made me feel good because, as Ryan said, he's just stepping in – he's not trying to prove anything. I love that Ryan Seacrest was able to provide that reassurance for Vanna White, showing through his actions and his words that he understood the responsibility of following Pat Sajak and how much Wheel of Fortune means to fans, and he wasn't trying to come in and blow up the sturdy foundation that had been laid for him. He provided the same assurance to fans, saying that his version of Wheel of Fortune would be the same that Pat Sajak was leaving. With Sony choosing Pat Sajak's replacement so far in advance — and picking someone with so much hosting experience — the powers that be really set the crew and audience alike up for a smooth transition, and when Ryan Seacrest made his debut in 2024, fans took to him surprisingly quickly. (He does have his haters though.) It's going to be interesting to see Pat Sajak back in his rightful place on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune. Fans will be able to easily compare the two hosts' styles, with Ryan Seacrest continuing to lead the daily syndicated show while Sajak shows up in primetime Wednesdays on ABC. Viewers are also likely to feel quite nostalgic seeing the former host reunite with Vanna White (despite the fact that she still sees Pat Sajak outside of the show). I know Kelly Ripa isn't the only one of us that used to think they were married! All in all, I think it's going to be a special season that fans will cherish, even while returning to Ryan Seacrest's regularly scheduled programming. Don't miss Pat Sajak's big return (and for-real last hurrah) on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune Season 5, which premieres at 8 p.m. ET Wednesday, April 30, on ABC and streaming the next day on Hulu.
