The Chelsea Flower Show garden that's changing lives
I've been going to the Chelsea Flower Show for nearly 40 years now. I've worked there in some capacity or other for 25 of those years and so, for most of that time, have been preoccupied with the gardens, the designs, the plants and the spectacle of it all.
Chelsea is an undeniably exclusive event. Tickets — if you can get one — aren't cheap and those that visit only see the glossy finished article. There is, however, a side to it that goes unseen: the lead-up to the show and all the preparation — and I have seen for myself that being involved in creating a garden has the potential to really change lives.
