Minister Seethakka launches development works in Chevella

Telangana State Panchayat Raj Minister Seethakka and Telangana Government Chief Whip Dr. Patnam Mahender Reddy visited Mudimyala in Chevella Mandal to inaugurate significant infrastructure projects. During their visit, the Ministers launched the Malkapuram-Mudimyala BT road works, which are backed by funding of Rs. 3 crore 35 lakhs, provided under the auspices of local MLA Kale Yadayya. Additionally, they unveiled CC road projects in Chevella with a sanctioned amount of Rs. 1 crore 30 lakhs. In his remarks, Mahender Reddy highlighted the government's commitment to local development, revealing that Rs. 571 crore has been allocated for 1,583 new works in the Panchayat Raj Rangareddy Division. To date, 1,176 of these projects have been completed, with Rs. 132 crore already disbursed. Furthermore, he announced that Rs. 25 crore 10 lakhs have been earmarked for nine projects in the Chevella Division, underscoring the ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure in the region.

Wanaparthy District: District Collector Adarsh Surabhi inspected the arrangements for the 79th Independence Day celebrations on Thursday evening. Government Chief Whip and MLC Patnam Mahender Reddy will unfurl the national flag at 9.30 am, after which the chief guest will address the people of the district. He said that arrangements should be made for the organization of cultural programs. The Collector, who inspected the arrangements being made at the Wanaparthy District IDOC premises, instructed Collectorate A. O. Bhanu Prakash to take precautionary measures to ensure that the celebrations do not face any problems even in the event of rain. He suggested that suitable arrangements be made for students, officials and the public to watch the celebrations. The arrangements for stalls were also inspected.

*Hyderabad, 2 August 2025:* IT Minister and District In-charge Duddilla Sridhar Babu said that the Congress-led Praja Prabhu government has been promptly implementing welfare schemes since coming to power, with a focus on public needs and social justice. The minister was speaking at a ration card distribution programme held at Kothakapu Yadava Reddy Gardens in Karmanghat, LB Nagar. He was joined by Government Chief Whip Patnam Mahender Reddy, MLC Boggarapu Dayanand, former MP Madhuyashki Goud, corporation chairmen Malreddy Ramreddy and Challa Narasimha Reddy, GHMC Congress Floor Leader Daripalli Rajasekhar Reddy, corporators Venkateswar Reddy and Sujatha Nayak, Zonal Commissioner Hemant Keshav Patil, Youth Congress State President Jakkidi Shivacharan Reddy, and former PCC secretary Jakkidi Prabhakar Reddy. Addressing the gathering, Minister Sridhar Babu stated that the Congress government is committed to respecting public aspirations and addressing their needs. He criticised the previous BRS government, claiming it failed to issue even a single new ration card during its tenure and left the state burdened with loans amounting to ₹8 lakh crore and a monthly interest obligation of ₹7,000 crore. Despite the financial challenges, he noted that the government is supplying 6 kg of free rice per person under the ration card scheme and has launched several other welfare programmes, including housing for the homeless and poor. The minister also highlighted that over 65,000 government jobs have been filled and that Group-I examinations, which were not conducted in the past decade, have now resumed. He added that 200 units of electricity are being provided free of cost and that a new law ensuring 42% reservations for Backward Classes has been introduced. He appealed to BJP MPs and MLAs to ensure the President's assent for the legislation. Supporting the minister's remarks, Government Chief Whip Patnam Mahender Reddy affirmed the government's commitment to both welfare and development. MLC Dayanand and Road Development Corporation Chairman Malreddy Ramreddy accused the former BRS regime of deceiving the public with empty promises. Officials including former corporator Lakshmi Prasanna Rammohan Goud, Kandukur RDO Jagadishwar Reddy, tehsildars Venugopal and Janaki, DSO Vanajatha, ASO Pullaiah, and GHMC Deputy Commissioners Sujatha, Vaikuntam, and Suryaprakash Gupta were also present at the event.

Prison inmates' spirit shines at Cherlapally as annual sports and cultural meet ends on a high note

Over 220 inmates from across Telangana's correctional facilities came together at Central Prison, Cherlapally, for a three-day celebration of grit, talent and rehabilitation, as the 2025 edition of the Annual Prisoners Sports & Cultural Meet drew to a spirited close on Sunday. Organised by the Telangana Department of Prisons & Correctional Services, the event brought together prisoners from Cherlapally, Chanchalguda, the Hyderabad Prison Range and Warangal Prison Range, grouped into four platoons of 55 members each. The meet, running from May 9 to 11, blended athleticism with artistry and aimed to provide inmates with a structured platform for reinvention and reintegration. The closing ceremony was headlined by Minister for IT, Industries, and Legislative Affairs D. Sridhar Babu with legislators Patnam Mahender Reddy and Bandari Laxma Reddy, and corporator Bonthu Sridevi in attendance. In his address, the Minister commended prison authorities for transforming jails into 'centres of reform and rehabilitation' and applauded Director General of Prisons Soumya Mishra for spearheading initiatives that focus on the welfare and reform of inmates. He noted that while many prisoners were there due to unfortunate turns in life, they are now actively working towards becoming better citizens. A key highlight of the Minister's speech was the praise lavished on products made by prison industries, ranging from soaps to steel furniture, that he claimed could rival multinational brands in quality. The Karimnagar Fuel Outlet run by inmates also earned a special mention for its honesty and high sales figures. Participants trained for two months ahead of the event, with special diets rich in protein to keep them fighting fit. Events included cricket, volleyball, kabaddi, athletics, chess, carrom and badminton, alongside cultural programmes such as singing, dancing, skits, mimicry, musical performance and visual arts. The Central Prison at Cherlapally dominated the scoreboard, bagging six golds and three silvers to clinch the overall championship. Central Prison, Hyderabad, followed with four golds and one silver. Cherlapally also took home the 'Best Team in Parade' title. in her closing remarks, thanked prison staff, participants and guests, and reiterated the department's commitment to reform-based prison management.
