‘The last position we need', moan Man Utd fans as they're linked with shock Premier League defender

MANCHESTER UNITED are interested in Brighton defender Pervis Estupinan, according to reports. Ruben Amorim is looking to overhaul his squad this summer after a woeful season that saw the Red Devils finish in their lowest ever position of 15th. 3 3 Journalist Ben Jacobs claims United have enquired about Estupinan as they look to bolster options at left-wing-back. The 27-year-old featured 30 times for Brighton this season, scoring once and assisting another. It is currently unclear whether the Seagulls are open to selling the Ecuadorian or what fee they may demand. Estupinan's contract on the south coast does not expire until the summer of 2027. But some United fans are not happy about the rumours and claim they do not need a new left-wing-back. Patrick Dorgu was signed in January for £25million and teenager Diego Leon joins this summer from Cerro Porteno in Paraguay for a reported £7m. Meanwhile, the likes of Luke Shaw, Diogo Dalot, Noussair Mazraoui and youngster Harry Amass have also filled in there. One supporter wrote: "Why are we even looking at left wing-backs. The last position we need signings for." JOIN SUN VEGAS: GET £50 BONUS 3 Another added: "We have Dorgu and Leon already. Concentrate on key positions which is striker, forwards, central midfield and a goalkeeper." A third commented: "Definitely bigger priorities. Plenty of cover in that area, best keep the money for elsewhere." Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho show middle finger to fans during Man Utd's post-season tour in Malaysia But others disagreed, saying: "Would be a decent rotation option with Dorgu." Though departures are currently the focus at Old Trafford as club chiefs are set for talks with Real Betis over Antony next week.

(AP Photo/Vincent Thian) KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Manchester United began an offseason tour after its worst Premier League season in almost expected fashion, losing its first match against a Southeast Asian all-star team 1-0 in Kuala Lumpur. The reaction was swift on Thursday, and from one of the highest places in the land. Advertisement Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim suggested that Manchester United could be relegated after watching the visitors lose, despite the fact they were probably affected by jet lag. 'Ouch. Man United failed to win another trophy,' Ibrahim, one of 72,500 fans at the Bukit Jalil Stadium in the Malaysian capital, wrote on social media in a post translated from Malay. 'Looks like you're in for another tough season, hope you don't drop to the Championship,' he added, referring to England's second tier into which the bottom three teams in the 20-team Premier League drop into every season. On Sunday, United finished 15th in the Premier League, its lowest ever ranking in the competition, just four days after a loss in the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur meant that its European season ended without a trophy. Advertisement Myanmar's Maung Maung Lwin scored the only goal of the game Wednesday after 72 minutes to give a team made up of top players from around the southeast Asian region the win. 'To face one of the world's top clubs and deliver such a performance — it was truly remarkable from the team,' said All-Stars coach Kim Sang-sik. 'We only trained for two days, but the players looked like they had been playing together for 20 years. The team were well-organized and cohesive.' Manchester United continues its tour in Hong Kong on Friday before matches in Sweden and the United States. ___ AP soccer:

Toothless Man Utd beaten in Malaysia friendly

Manchester United's Patrick Dorgu (centre) fights for the ball with Asean All-Stars Kealey Adamson (right) and Kan Mo during the exhibition friendly football match between Manchester United and Asean All-Stars at the National Stadium Bukit Jalil in Kuala Lumpur this evening. – AFP photo KUALA LUMPUR (May 28): Manchester United's dismal season suffered fresh embarrassment as they were beaten 1-0 by a Southeast Asian XI in sweltering Kuala Lumpur this evening in front of a crowd of 72,550. Ruben Amorim's side, who finished 15th in the Premier League for their worst season since 1974, looked lethargic and devoid of ideas in the heat. Some fans at Bukit Jalil national stadium left before the end and a few boos rang out at the final whistle. In their first of two post-season games in Asia, United started with several regulars including Harry Maguire, Rasmus Hojlund, Casemiro, Diogo Dalot, Manuel Ugarte, Kobbie Mainoo and Andre Onana. In temperatures of 32 degrees Celsius (90 Fahrenheit) at kickoff, it was the Asean All Stars who looked more threatening. Filipino defender Amani Aguinaldo blasted a shot just wide in the 16th minute. Onana was called into action midway through the first half with a low save that endeared him to the largely United-supporting crowd. Mainoo provided the first real threat for Manchester Utd with a 25-yard effort that was turned behind for a corner, before the young midfielder saw his shot cleared off the line in the 38th minute. Captain Bruno Fernandes came on in the second half and his half-volley drew a loud cheer after a drab restart. The Southeast Asian side stunned Amorim's men through a brilliant counter-attack in the 71st minute. Burmese attacker Maung Maung Lwin found himself clean through on goal and the 29-year-old fired emphatically into the top corner past Tom Heaton. The home team could have had a second soon after, but Heaton came to the rescue to prevent further embarrassment. United now head to Hong Kong for a friendly on Friday. – AFP ASEAN All-Stars friendly kuala lumpur lead Manchester United

Chelsea: Enzo Maresca need not be 'worried' as Marc Cucurella keeps Champions League hopes alive

True, United have been abject whoever wears the shirt in recent months and came in winless in seven in the Premier League, their worst ever run. They began here, though, with a surprising intensity, Bruno Fernandes flying into challenges and Patrick Dorgu rampant down the left. That pair would have combined to create the opener had Maguire not been mere inches offside when guiding home Fernandes's cross.
