'Very disappointed': Trump slams Putin, moves to send Ukraine weapons
President Donald Trump lashed out at Vladimir Putin ahead of a meeting with the secretary general of NATO, again venting his frustration with the Russian leader's unwillingness to de-escalate in Ukraine. 'I am very disappointed with President Putin,' Trump said July 13 at Joint Base Andrews. 'I thought he was somebody that meant what he said. And he'll talk so beautifully and then he'll bomb people at night. We don't like that.' More: Trump said he'd end Ukraine war in 24 hours. Now his patience with Putin is wearing thin. Trump's increasingly tough rhetoric against Putin comes as he moves to boost U.S. military support for Ukraine, telling reporters July 13 that he will send Patriot air defense missiles to the war-ravaged country that was invaded by Russia in 2022. Trump said the European Union will reimburse the United States for the missiles. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has been pressing Trump to allow his country to purchase Patriot missile air defense systems from the United States as Russia intensifies its missile and drone attacks. Shipments of the missile systems that were previously approved were paused by a Pentagon review of U.S. military stockpiles and then resumed last week by Trump. While speaking to reporters after returning from the FIFA Club World Cup match in New Jersey, Trump said the United States would send Ukraine "sophisticated military" equipment. The plan was expected to be part of an Oval Office discussion at the White House with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. Trump's amicable approach to Putin – he called him 'very kind' just last month – has increasingly been laced with criticism as Russia continues to heavily bombard Ukrainian cities despite efforts by U.S. officials to reach a ceasefire. With Putin pressing forward on the war effort, Trump has moved to help Ukraine with weapons and Congress is considering legislation that would increase sanctions on Russia. US weapons supplies to Ukraine never stopped
US weapons deliveries to Ukraine have continued uninterrupted despite reports of funding gaps and political wrangling, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov has said. He told reporters on Monday that shipments of weapons, ammunition, and military equipment from the US 'have continued and are continuing.' Several weeks ago, Western media outlets reported that the US temporarily halted some military aid shipments while reviewing its own stockpiles. The Pentagon later said the assistance to Kiev would resume under updated planning. US President Donald Trump previously expressed frustration over the cost of supplying Ukraine with Patriot missiles. While stating that the US will continue to supply Patriots, he suggested that the EU will be responsible for covering the costs. According to CBS and other outlets, the Pentagon has also been pressuring Germany to transfer its own Patriot batteries to Ukraine. Commenting on the situation, Peskov said, 'there has been a lot said about how expensive all this is' and how the deliveries will be paid for by Europe. Nevertheless, 'the fact remains that US deliveries of arms, ammunition, and military hardware to Ukraine have continued and are continuing,' he added. Axios has reported that in addition to Patriots, Trump is also considering providing long-range missiles capable of striking targets deep inside Russian territory. He is also expected to make a 'very aggressive' statement on Ukraine during a meeting scheduled for Monday. Moscow has condemned Western military support for Kiev, arguing that the aid only serves to prolong the conflict without altering the outcome.

Live Trump to send offensive weapons to Ukraine after turning against Putin
Donald Trump is to send offensive weapons to Ukraine after growing frustrated with Vladimir Putin's refusal to end the war, according to reports. The US president announced on Sunday he would give Kyiv Patriot missiles, which are defensive weapons crucial for combatting Russia's increasing drone and missile attacks. However the shipment is now expected to include offensive systems such as long-range missiles that can strike targets deep inside Russian territory, Axios reported, citing two sources with knowledge of the plans. Mr Trump was reportedly convinced to send offensive weapons after a recent phone call with Putin in which the Russian leader said he would escalate the war with a new offensive. 'He wants all of it [Ukraine],' Mr Trump reportedly told his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron after the conversation. The president has appeared to turn against Putin in recent weeks, calling him 'crazy' and accusing him of peddling 'bulls—'. On Sunday he said the Russian leader 'talks nice but then he bombs everybody in the evening'. Lindsey Graham, a Republican senator who is close with Mr Trump, said the US president was 'really p—-- at Putin'. 'His announcement tomorrow is going to be very aggressive,' he said.
