Noted additions include: defensive tackle Milton Williams, outside linebacker Harold Landry III, inside linebacker Robert Spillane, and cornerback Carlton Davis III.

That fails to mention the return of a healthy Jabrill Peppers and $83 million star defensive tackle Christian Barmore, who missed almost all of 2024 with a blood clot-related health scare.

"Offense might get all the glory, but having a defense that can neutralize dynamic offenses is still a game-changer," Ballentine said.
That is why these investments are so important, particularly with a young Drake Maye as New England's starting quarterback.
The Patriots are undergoing a violent transformation on defense. With scheme upgrades, elite free agents like Milton Williams, and a physical mindset from Vrabel's coaching staff, they're positioned to significantly outperform their 2024 campaign.
If execution matches the coaching staff's messaging, New England's defense could surprise the NFL in 2025.
