Imax, Federation & Imago Join Forces On Documentary ‘Patrouille De France'
Imax is embarking on its first-ever foreign language documentary, partnering with Federation Studios and Imago Production on Patrouille de France. The film will chronicle a year in the life of the aerobatics team of the French Air and Space Force, from the selection process and intense training to its signature elite aerial displays. The announcement was made today at the Cannes Film Festival where, three years ago, the troupe buzzed the Palais in a stunning tribute ahead of the Top Gun: Maverick premiere. Currently in production and set for an early 2026 release, Patrouille de France is being developed in partnership with Paris-based production giant Federation Studios and newly created indie production company Imago Production. Two French military jets collide midair during aerobatic rehearsal

Video footage of the dramatic incident near Saint-Dizier shows two Alpha Jets from the Patrouille de France (PAF) aerobatic team spiralling to the ground after colliding while performing synchronized manoeuvres. Three pilots and one passenger safely ejected and parachuted to the ground, the French Air and Space Force confirmed on social media. The incident occurred at approximately 15:40 local time. The aircraft were part of a seven-plane formation conducting precision stunts when the collision occurred. "At BA 113 in Saint-Dizier, two Alpha Jets from the Patrouille de France collided during a seven-plane training flight," stated the Air Force. "The three pilots, including one passenger, were able to eject in time and are safe. No casualties have been reported at this stage." French Armed Forces Minister Sébastien Lecornu said emergency services responded swiftly, providing medical care to the crew, who sustained minor injuries. Saint-Dizier's mayor, Quentin Brière, said one jet crashed into a silo and the other in a nearby marshy wooded area, according to reports by AFP cited in Le Parisien. The cause of the collision remains unclear. The Alpha Jet is used primarily for pilot training and aerobatic displays. Patrouille de France, founded in 1953, is renowned for its precision flying, regularly performing at high-profile events such as Bastille Day celebrations.

Three people – two pilots and one passenger – managed to eject before the crash and were 'found conscious,' the French Air and Space Force wrote on X. The crash took place near an airbase in Saint-Dizier, eastern France, on Tuesday afternoon during a training drill involving six Alpha Jets from the Patrouille de France, the French Air Force's precision aerobatics team. Footage captured by bystanders showed the moment the jets, engaged in a stunt and releasing smoke trails, collided in midair. The aircraft then spiraled toward the ground as crew members were seen ejecting and deploying their parachutes. 'Slightly injured, they were taken into care,' he wrote. 'Thanks to the emergency services mobilized, thoughts for our pilots of the Patrouille de France.'
