Top 10 at 11: Small cap gold stocks shine despite early ASX dip
Morning, and welcome to Stockhead's Top 10 (at 11… ish), highlighting the movers and shakers on the ASX in early-doors trading. With the market opening at 10am sharp eastern time, the data is taken at 10.15am, once trading kicks off in earnest. In brief, this is what the market has been up to this morning. Small cap gold stocks outperform The ASX 200 has fallen 0.15% as of about 10:30 am AEST, trending down from a new record closing high yesterday. It's not a great start to the day for the majority of the market, with seven sectors down, one unchanged and three making progress. Resources is leading gains, up 2.21% with energy (+0.81%) and health care (+0.69%) trailing. The ASX 200 Resources index is flying along, adding 2.15%, but the All Ord Gold sub index has fallen 0.91%. While that doesn't bode well for gold stocks in general, several are resisting the riptides to make big gains this morning. Santa Fe Minerals (ASX:SFM) has laid claim to the Eburnea gold project, acquiring it from Turaco Gold (ASX:TCG) in return for 12 million shares, 4m performance rights and a potential 2.5% net smelter royalty. The company has also locked in commitments for a $1.2m share placement, offered at a 61% premium to its last closing price, to fund exploration at Eburnea. The project has produced broad gold hits of up to 26m at 4.82 g/t and a bonanza intersection of 3m at 35.79 g/t gold that SFM is keen to explore further. Australian Oil (ASX:AOK) is moving to offload debt from its books, coming to a settlement with former director Gary Jeffery and his company Dungay Resources to eliminate a $1m loan and the balance of interest accrued. AOK will pay $28k and issue 36m shares to satisfy the total debt of just over $184k, settling the matter. Falcon Metals (ASX:FAL) reckons it's hit Bendigo Goldfield-style mineralisation in the first hole drilled at the Blue Moon prospect, situated within the prolific Garden Gully anticline. FAL's drill bit hit 2.4m at 8.4 g/t gold from 600m of depth, peaking at 0.3m at 48.7 g/t gold in an area that has produced 5.2Moz of gold at an average grade of 15 g/t. Management thinks there's a good chance there are multiple quartz veins and thicker saddle reefs in the immediate Blue Moon area, drilling a wedge hole to better target the wider bands of mineralisation. Thunderbird Resources (ASX:THB) is also rising on gold-related news this morning; rock chip assays from its Kookabookra project in NSW returned particularly impressive assays of up to 153.5 g/t gold. The company is zeroing-in on the Mt Secret and Mannix prospects in particular, where gold-in-soil results up to 926 parts per billion coupled with the high-grade rock chip results point to potential gold systems. There's also more than 400 historical mine workings on the project – THB has boots on the ground at the Bear Hill and Butcher Reef prospects to sample them. Top 10 at 11: ASX bounces out the gate as resources stocks surge
ASX 200 Resources soars on open After a week of wait-and-see gloom surrounding the Iran-Israel conflict and a tentative ceasefire, the ASX has finally found its feet. The ASX 200 has jumped 0.61% out of the gate as of about 10:30 am, driven by strong momentum in the ASX 200 Resource index (+2.39%) and the wider materials sector (+2.6%). There's also momentum building in info tech (+0.94%), telecommunications (+0.9%) and energy (+0.71%). Gold and oil both tipped up marginally overnight, adding 0.1%. Brent has since risen again slightly, adding another $0.10 or so to US$67.86 a barrel. Both US and European markets moved higher overnight, perhaps indicating that the international economy has found an equilibrium again… at least for now. To no one's surprise, it's resource stocks dominating our Top 10 movers this morning… WINNERS Code Name Last % Change Volume Market Cap RAN Range International 0.003 200% 4069177 $939,290 PAB Patrys Limited 0.002 100% 393635 $2,365,810 AGY Argosy Minerals Ltd 0.021 40% 22311990 $21,838,814 AN1 Anagenics Limited 0.005 25% 200000 $1,985,281 UVA Uvrelimited 0.105 22% 161687 $5,177,200 HTG Harvest Tech Grp Ltd 0.018 20% 882715 $13,439,201 PKD Parkd Ltd 0.03 20% 38070 $2,600,347 AZL Arizona Lithium Ltd 0.006 20% 577777 $26,351,572 BLZ Blaze Minerals Ltd 0.003 20% 333000 $4,446,160 LCL LCL Resources Ltd 0.006 20% 625030 $5,996,286 In the news... Uvre (ASX:UVA) has produced some quality gold results in rock chips from its New Zealand gold project; 18.4 g/t gold at the Waitekauri project on the North Island, and 9.3 g/t from the Oturehua project on the South Island. Top 10 at 11: Locksley locks in as ASX ticks up in early trade
Morning, and welcome to Stockhead's Top 10 (at 11… ish), highlighting the movers and shakers on the ASX in early-doors trading. With the market opening at 10am sharp eastern time, the data is taken at 10:15, once trading kicks off in earnest. In brief, this is what the markets have been up to this morning. As predicted earlier by Eddy "Soothsayer" Sunarto, the ASX has indeed jumped out of bed with a spring in step, rising 0.44% higher at the time of writing. As is so often the case, the local benchmark has taken its cues this morning from the US of A. Overnight, Wall Street came back from the long weekend with a bit of pep in its own step. "The S&P 500 leapt 2% in a late-session rally, while the Nasdaq 100 added 2.5%, powered by a combo of tariff détente and consumers rediscovering their confidence," reported Eddy earlier. The Dow Jones Industrial Average meanwhile added 741 points. What else? For those interested in magic internet money, it's overall pace setter – Bitcoin – is still in good shape, maintaining a level not too far off its all-time high. It's hovering just above US$109,000 at the time of writing. As for the Aussie dollar, that's trading around US64.50c. Field work to be carried out by the Locksley team includes confirmation and pegging of drill collar locations, follow-up outcrop mapping and rock chip sampling across antimony, REE, polymetallic, and copper prospects, and additional surface geochemistry and further structural mapping.
