Green Tech Water Pump Brings Clean Water To Pulau Teluk Renjuna

TUMPAT, July 18 (Bernama) -- A green technology water pump that began full operations today has ended the need for about 3,000 residents in the Tumpat island cluster, particularly on Pulau Teluk Renjuna, to rely on murky river water. Yayasan Infaq Infra Malaysia chairman Azuhan Fauzi said the RM60,000 project utilises a 3kW solar system and a 5kWh lithium battery, and is equipped with a 500-litre rainwater harvesting system. He said the water is sourced from a borehole at the Mukim Teluk Renjuna Mosque and filtered through three filters in the pump system. 'This pump can supply up to 1,000 gallons of clean water per day to 200 households here,' he told reporters on the island today. Meanwhile, resident Paudin Yunus, 69, said they had been facing low water pressure and murky water issues for over 20 years, forcing them to rely on the unclean waters of the Sungai Kelantan for bathing and washing. 'We are grateful to finally receive clean water supply through the construction of this pump house. It has been a great help to us,' he said. Another resident, Zakaria Rafi, 54, said previously they had to purchase filtered water from the mainland and transport it by boat, their only means of transport. 'This clean water pump resolves the water shortage issues frequently faced by residents. Alhamdulillah, we no longer need to buy water as we now have a supply of clean water on the island,' he said. -- BERNAMA
