'Why don't AFC Bournemouth sponsor the air festival?'
Enviously looking across the bay from Bournemouth beach at another spectacular display by the Red Arrows at Swanage we too wondered why BCP can no longer afford anything as a summer highlight (Martin Thomas in Letters)?
In two weeks time Eastbourne hosts an International Airshow with Red Arrows headlining on each of the four days - all cost neutral for the council and carbon compensated, they say.
How do they do it and we can't in Bournemouth?
As an extra plus we have an excellent airport with all facilities within minutes of our extensive beach display area and used by the Reds for other displays several times a year.
Our remaining local bright spot must be having our Premier League football team in the heart of the town. I'm sure BCP Council is working closely with the football club in the exciting development of the Cherries stadium.
As a keen fan pointed out that in the financial world of Premier League football sponsoring an airshow must rate as fairly small change?
How about an AFC Bournemouth Air Festival? We live in hope!
